Influence of sintering temperature on the phases and photoelectric characteristics of BiOCl/ZnO composite powders

Zinc oxide is a typical functional oxide that has been widely researched for various industry applications due to its peculiar physical characteristics. However, to achieve its potential in promising applications, much work has been diligently performed to improve the physical properties of ZnO. In this work, an aqueous suspension route was used to prepare BiOCl/ZnO composite powders, and sintering processes were applied to investigate the influence of sintering temperature on the phase evolutions, microstructures, and photoelectric characteristics of BiOCl/ZnO composite powders. The results indicated that the photoelectric properties mainly depend on the relevant content of BiOCl in the composite powders and the sintering temperature. The photoelectric measurements in K_2SO_4 solutions show that the photoelectric properties of the samples with the appropriate BiOCl content(0.3 mol% and 2.0 mol%) are better than those of ZnO and commercial TiO_2(P_(25)) powders, but the photoelectric measurements in NaOH solutions indicate that the photoelectric characteristics of the as-sintered samples are only better than those of P_(25).

Cadmium sulfide quantum dots(CdS QDs) are widely used in solar cells, light emitting diodes, photocatalysis, and biological imaging because of their unique optical and electrical properties. However, there are some drawbacks in existing preparation techniques for CdS QDs, such as protection of inert gas, lengthy reaction time, high reaction temperature, poor crystallinity, and non-uniform particle size distribution. In this study, we prepared CdS QDs by liquid phase synthesis under ambient room temperature and atmospheric pressure using sodium alkyl sulfonate, CdCl_2, and Na_2S as capping agent, cadmium, and sulfur sources respectively. This technique offers facile preparation, efficient reaction, low-cost, and controllable particle size. The as-prepared CdS QDs exhibited good crystallinity, excellent monodispersity, and uniform particle size. The responsivity of CdS QDs-based photodetector is greater than 0.3 μA/W, which makes them suitable for use as ultra-violet(UV) detectors.

A thin oriented bacteriorhodopsin(bR)film is deposited on a stainless steel slide by use of the electrophoretic sedimentation method.A junction is made with electrolyte gels having a counterelectrode to construct a bR-based photoelectric *** photoelectric response signal to a 10ns laser pulse is measured.A theory on the photoelectric kinetics of bR is developed based on the concept of the charge displacement current and the bR photocycle rate *** between the theoretical and experimental results proves that the bR photoelectric response to a short laser pulse is a multi-exponential *** decay time constants and amplitudes of each exponential component are obtained by data fitting.

Rare earth sesquisulfides have drawn growing attention in photoelectric applications because of their excellent electronic and photoelectric properties upon *** investigate the structural,electrical,and photoelectric properties of Tm_(2)S_(3) under high pressure through electrical impedance,UV-vis absorption,Raman spectroscopy,x-ray diffraction,and photoelectric *** is found that δ-Tm_(2)S_(3) transforms into high-pressure𝛼-phase around 5GPa,accompanied by a substantial reduction in atomic distance,bandgap,and ***,the photocurrent density and responsivity of Tm_(2)S_(3) exhibit dramatic increase behavior,achieving five orders of magnitude enhancement in α-phase compared with the initial δ-Tm_(2)S_(3).Moreover,α-phase maintains a high photocurrent responsivity of three orders of magnitude after *** work demonstrates significant enhancement of the photoelectric properties of Tm_(2)S_(3) by applying pressure,which paves the way for improving the performance of future photoelectric devices.

A high sensitivity photovoltaic effect has been observed in a heterojunction composed of n-type wide bandgap oxide SrTiO 3-δ and p-type Si fabricated by laser molecular beam *** responsivity of open-circuit photovoltage can reach 10 4 V/W without any amplification under zero bias for the wavelength range from visible to near infrared light in nW-μW *** attribute the high performance of the photovoltage responsivity to the interfacial photoelectric effects in the SrTiO 3-δ /Si *** the experimental results,some ideas can be generalized to improve photovoltaic efficiency and develop high sensitivity photodetectors with wide bandgap oxide materials and Si.
