Due to the coupling between the two lines on the same tower,the existing phase transformation matrix has its *** this paper,based on the properties of uniform transposed transmission lines,a new phase mode transformation matrix is proposed,which can reflect various fault types with single modulus and is suitable for both transient and steady *** operational factors of the transformation matrix are real numbers,so that the computation can be greatly *** the distributed parameter transmission line model and the proposed new phase mode transformation matrix is used to fault location for the double circuit transmission *** simulation results show that the algorithm is not affected by load current,transition resistance and fault type.

Fault Current and Voltage Estimation Method in Symmetrical Monopolar MMC-based DC Grids

Symmetrical monopolar configuration is the prevailing scheme configuration for modular multilevel converter based high-voltage direct current(MMC-HVDC) links, in which severe DC overvoltage or overcurrent can be caused by the DC faults. To deal with the possible asymmetry in the DC faults and the coupling effects of the DC lines, this paper analyzes the DC fault characteristics based on the phase-mode transformation. First, the DC grid is decomposed into the common-mode and the differential-mode networks. The equivalent models of the MMCs and DC lines in the two networks are derived, respectively. Then, based on the state matrices, a unified numerical calculation method for the fault voltages and currents at the DC side is proposed. Compared with the time-domain simulations performed on PSCAD/EMTDC, the accuracy of the proposed method is validated. Last, the system parameter analysis shows that the grounding parameters play an important role in reducing the severity of the pole-to-ground faults, whereas the coupling effects of the DC lines should be considered when calculating the DC fault currents associated with the pole-to-pole faults.

A Protection Method of VSC-HVDC Cables Based on Generalized S-Transform

Generalized S-transform is a time-frequency analysis method which has higher resolution than S-transform. It can precisely extract the time-amplitude characteristics of different frequency components in the signal. In this paper, a novel protection method for VSC-HVDC (Voltage source converter based high voltage DC) based on Generalized S-transform is proposed. Firstly, extracting frequency component of fault current by Generalized S-transform and using mutation point of high frequency to determine the fault time. Secondly, using the zero-frequency component of fault current to eliminate disturbances. Finally, the polarity of sudden change currents in the two terminals is employed to discriminate the internal and external faults. Simulations in PSCAD/EMTDC and MATLAB show that the proposed method can distinguish faults accurately and effectively.
