Towards high strength cast Mg-RE based alloys:phase diagrams and strengthening mechanisms

Mg-rare earth(RE)based systems provide several important commercial alloys and many alloy development opportunities for high strength applications,especially in aerospace and defense *** phase diagrams,microstructure,and strengthening mechanisms of these multicomponent systems are very complex and often not well understood in *** have calculated phase diagrams of important binary,ternary,and multicomponent RE-containing alloy systems,using CALPHAD(CALculation of phase diagrams).Based on these phase diagrams,this paper offers a critical overview on phase equilibria and strengthening mechanisms in these alloy systems,including precipitation,long period stacking order(LPSO),and other intermetallic *** review also summarized several promising Mg-RE based cast alloys in comparison with commercial WE54 and WE43 alloys;and explored new strategies for future alloy development for high strength *** is pointed out that the combination of precipitation and LPSO phases can lead to superior strength and ductility in Mg-RE based cast *** precipitates and LPSO phases can form a complex three-dimensional network that effectively impedes dislocation motion on the basal and non-basal *** LPSO phases can also prevent the coarsening of precipitates when they interact,thus providing good thermal stability at elevated *** research is needed to determine how the combination of these two types of phases can be used in alloy design and industrial scale applications.

Rare-earth(RE)elements,known as“industrial vitamins”,have permeated modern lives,especially in high-tech *** the RE elements possess close chemical similarities and have been treated as“one element”in the periodic table,their characteristics differ from each *** RE microalloying effect is the crux to ameliorate the physicomechanical and thermochemical properties of materials,thereby the study of RE-related phase diagrams becomes indispensable to the design and optimization of RE-containing ***,in reality,the knowledge base in this area is considerably scarce compared with that of other commonly-used *** this work,the phase equilibria,phase diagrams,phase transformations,and some recent examples of RE-containing materials design are summarized,with which one can predict the RE solubilities,the RE precipitates,as well as the corresponding service *** attainment of enhanced materials’properties suggests that the thermodynamic rules extracted from the phase diagrams could serve as fundamental criteria for the successful development of novel RE-containing materials.

phase diagrams and Tricritical Behaviour of the Spin-2 Ising Model in a Longitudinal Random Field

Within the framework of the effective-field theory with correlations, we study the ferromagnetic spin-2 random-field Ising model (RFIM) in the presence of a crystal field on honeycomb (z = 3), square (z = 4) and simple cubic (z = 6) lattices. The effects of the crystal field and the longitudinal random field on the phase diagrams are investigated. Some characteristic features of the phase diagrams, such as the tricritical phenomena, reentrant phenomena and existence of two tricritical points, are found.

Optimization and Calculation of TbCl_3-ACl (A=Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs) phase diagrams

By using CALPHAD (Calculation of phase Diagram) technique the optimization and calculation of the binary systems of TbCl_3-ACl (A= Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs) were carried out. For describing the Gibbs free energy of liquid phase in these systems the new modified quasichemical model in the pair-approximation for short-range ordering was used. From measured phase equilibria data and experimental integral properties the TbCl_3-ACl phase diagrams were optimized and calculated. A set of thermodynamic functions was optimized based on an interactive computer-assisted analysis. The calculated phase diagrams and thermodynamic data are self-consistent.

Li+,Na+//+ Cl-,B4O72--H2O Reciprocal Quaternary System Solubility phase diagrams

The solubilities, refraction indices and densities of saturated solution of Li+ , Na+ Cl- ,B4O72- -H2O reciprocal quaternary system at 0℃, 25℃ and 50℃ were determined by using isotherm method. Using total concentration of all the salts in solution as concentration coordinate(ordinate) the isothermal stereogram of solubility of the system was drawn. The results showed that the stable salt-pair of the system is Na2Cl2-Li2B4O7 and that there are two isothermal invariant points, eutonic ponit E and inversion point Pcorresponding to the eqilbria: solution (E) LiCl·H2O (at 25, 50℃) or LiCl·2H2O (at 0℃) + NaCl + Li2B4O7 · 3H2O and solution (P) + Na2-B4O7·1OH2O NaCl + Li2B4O7·3H2O and the crystallization fields ofborates are much larger than those of chlorides.

The impact of segment dilution on the magnetic and hysteretic properties of ferrimagnetic(1/2-1) segmented Ising nanowire

This study explores the presence of diverse phase diagrams and hysteresis characteristics, as well as their dependencies on segment dilution, in an Ising-type core/shell segmented *** magnetic and hysteretic behavior of the nanostructure was carefully investigated by employing the effective-field theory and its respective diluted parameters. The phase diagrams reveal characteristic phenomena that are influenced by the dilution parameters. Specifically, this study examined the variations in phase transitions and tricritical points by altering the dilution and physical parameters of the segments. The investigation also encompasses an examination of the hysteresis characteristics, including the hysteresis loop, coercivity, and remanence, in relation to the segment dilution dependence of the segmented nanowire. It was discovered that as the temperature rises, the hysteresis loop areas diminish. However, intriguingly, at specific dilution and crystal area values, the hysteresis loop areas exhibit an augmentation.

phase diagram of muonium hydride:the significant effect of dimensionality

We carry out a theoretical investigation of the low-temperature phase diagram of muonium hydride in two dimensions,using numerical *** is shown that the phase diagram of this substance is qualitatively different in two and three ***,while in three dimensions it is essentially identical to that of parahydrogen,i.e.,only displaying a single(crystalline)*** two dimensions it is very similar to that of^(4)He,with an equilibrium liquid phase that turns superfluid at a temperature as high as~2.2 K,and crystallizes under applied *** is a well-described case of a continuous-space condensed matter system whose ground state equilibrium phase is qualitatively altered by dimensional reduction.
