The effects of reduction in area(RA)per pass during caliber rolling on microstructure and strain distribution of twinninginduced plasticity steel have been investigated to find solutions to make a more homogeneous material along the radial direction for wire rod *** steel wires subjected to an average RA per pass of 2.5%(skin pass caliber rolling)and 10.0%(conventional caliber rolling)were *** skin pass caliber-rolled wire was characterized as a duplex fiber texture of majorand minor.and the textures were almost same at/between center and surface area,which is totally different from those of conventional caliber rolling and wire *** skin pass caliber rolling led to more homogeneous microstructure and mechanical properties along the radial direction in comparison with the conventional caliber rolling and wire drawing due to the more homogeneous Hall-Petch hardening,dislocation hardening,and texture behavior with area,resulting in higher formability.

A low-loss hybrid plasmonic transverse magnetic(TM)-pass polarizer has been demonstrated utilizing polarization-dependent mode *** advantage of the silicon hybrid plasmonic slot waveguide(HPSW),the unwanted transverse electric(TE)fundamental mode can be efficiently converted first to a TM higher-order mode and then suppressed by a power combiner,while the retained TM fundamental mode can pass through with negligible *** the HPSW feature both strong structural asymmetry and a small interaction area in the cross-section between the metal and optical field,the optimized insertion loss of the device is as low as 0.4 d *** the wavelength of 1550 nm,the extinction ratio is 28.3 d B with a moderate footprint of 2.38μm×10μ*** the entire C band,the average reflection of the TE mode is suppressed below-14 d B,and the extinction ratio is over 18.6 d *** work provides another more efficient and effective approach for better on-chip polarizers.

Here described are the cyprinid fossils from the Pliocene Lower Member of Qiangtang Formation of the Kunlun pass Basin,northeastern Tibetan Plateau,collected at a locality 4769 m above the sea level(asl).The materials consist of numerous disarticulated and incomplete bones as well as thousands of pharyngeal teeth,fin rays,and *** fossils were referred to the genus Gymnocypris,lineage Schizothoracini,family Cyprinidae;the lineage Schizothoracini;and the family Cyprinidae *** Schizothoracini is a freshwater fish group endemic to the Tibetan Plateau and its surrounding *** workers on living schizothoracins regarded that Gymnocypris belongs to the highly specialized grade of the group,colonizing higher altitudes than other members of the *** species are so far unequivocally assigned to the genus,i.e.,*** and ***,and they are inhabiting Qinghai Lake and the waters on both north(the Golmud River) and south(upper reach of the Yellow River) sides of the East Kunlun Mountain,*** abundant fossil schizothoracins occur in the Kunlun pass Basin on the southern slope of the East Kunlun Mountain(at 4769 m asl),close to the present Golmud River,indicating comparatively rich waters in the area and possible connections between the water systems on north and south sides of the East Kunlun Mountain during the *** also suggests a more humid climate in the area during the Pliocene than it is *** presence of the highly specialized schizothoracin Gymnocypris may also imply less amplitude of uplift(approximately 1000 m) in the area since the Pliocene than previously proposed.

Abstract The use of single lead for atrial synchronous ventricular (VDD) pacing in patients with high grade atrioventricular (AV) block and normal sinus node function is an acceptable alternative to dual chamber (DDD) pacing. Implantation and follow up procedures are simplified, and cost is usually reduced by more than the cost of an additional atrial lead. With the use of either diagonally arranged dipole or closely spaced ring electrodes, reliable atrial sensing can be achieved using differential atrial amplifier and high atrial sensitivity. Also oversensing is infrequently observed using provocation tests and dynamic recordings, clinical undersensing is unusual and minimized by programming to the highest atrial sensitivity. However, as atrial pacing is not possible, loss of AV synchrony and rate response may occur for unrecognized or progressive sinus node disease and lower rate limit. The development of single lead dual chamber pacing system may overcome this limitation. Recent studies have demonstrated that atrial pacing can be effective either with the use of a special pacing lead configuration or via floating atrial electrode with a novel stimulation method. Overlapping biphasic impulse (OLBI) can reduce atrial pacing threshold. Early clinical experience suggested that this new pacing method can provide effective and reliable atrial pacing with a relatively low incidence of diaphragmatic pacing. Thus the problem of atrial sensing is solved with a single pass lead but further long term evaluation is required to assess the efficacy and feasibility of new instrumentation for single lead dual chamber pacing.

Shape rolling is widely employed in the production of long workpieces with appropriate cross-section profiles for other industrial applications. In the development of shape rolling systems, roll pass design (RPD) plays an essential role on the quality control of products, service life of rolls, productivity of rolling systems, as well as energy consumption of rolling operations. This study attempts to establish a generic strategy based on hybrid modeling and an improved genetic algorithm, to support the optimizations of RPD and shape rolling operations at a systematic perspective. Objectives include improving the quality and efficiency of RPD, reducing energy consumption of shape rolling, as well as releasing the demands on costly trails and expert knowledge in RPD. Hybrid modeling based on cross-disciplinary knowledge is developed to overcome the limitations of isolated single-disciplinary models. And conventional genetic algorithm is improved for the implementation of optimal design. Targeting to integrate empirical data and published reliable solutions into optimizations, a parameters estimation method is proposed to transfer the initially misaligned models into a uniform pattern. A tool based on the Matlab platform is developed to demonstrate the optimal design operations, with case studies involved to validate the proposed methodology.
