As an extension of partially linear models and additive models, partially linear additive model is useful in statistical modelling. This paper proposes an empirical likelihood based approach for testing serial correlation in this semiparametric model. The proposed test method can test not only zero first-order serial correlation, but also higher-order serial correlation. Under the null hypothesis of no serial correlation, the test statistic is shown to follow asymptotically a chi-square distribution. Furthermore, a simulation study is conducted to illustrate the performance of the proposed method.

Ever since vortex beams were proposed, they are known for owning phase singularity and carrying orbital angular momentum (OAM). In the past decades, coherent optics developed rapidly. Vortex beams have been extended from fully coherent light to partially coherent light, from scalar light to vector light, from integral topological charge (TC) to fractional TC. partially coherent vortex beams have attracted tremendous interest due to their hidden correlation singularity and unique propagation properties (e.g., beam shaping, beam rotation and self-reconstruction). Based on the sufficient condition for devising a genuine correlation function of partially coherent beam, partially coherent vortex beams with nonconventional correlation functions (i.e., non-Gaussian correlated Schell-model functions) were introduced recently. This timely review summarizes basic concepts, theoretical models, generation and propagation of partially coherent vortex beams.

A stochastic averaging method for predicting the response of quasi partially integrable and non-resonant Hamiltoniansystems to fractional Gaussian noise （fGla） with the Hurst index 1/2〈H〈l is proposed. The averaged stochastic differential equa-tions （SDEs） for the first integrals of the associated Hamiltonian system are derived. The dimension of averaged SDEs is less thanthat of the original system. The stationary probability density and statistics of the original system are obtained approximately fromsolving the averaged SDEs numerically. Two systems are worked out to illustrate the proposed stochastic averaging method. It isshown that the results obtained by using the proposed stochastic averaging method and those from digital simulation of originalsystem agree well, and the computational time for the former results is less than that for the latter ones.

A new specially correlated partially coherent beam named nonuniform multi-Gaussian correlated(NMGC) partially coherent beam is introduced. The correlation functions of such beam in x and y directions are different from each other,i.e., nonuniform correlation function in one direction and multi-Gaussian correlated Schell-model function in the other direction. The propagation properties of an NMGC partially coherent beam in free pace are demonstrated, and we find that the intensity distribution of such beam exhibits self-focusing and self-shifting effect in one direction and self-shaping effect in the other direction on propagation. The correlation-induced self-focusing and self-shaping effect will be useful in some applications, where the high power and shaped laser is required, such as material thermal processing and laser carving.

AIM:To assess the effects of partially hydrolyzed guar gum(PHGG) diet supplement in pediatric chronic abdominal pain(CAP) and irritable bowel syndrome(IBS).METHODS:A randomized,double-blind pilot study was performed in sixty children(8-16 years) with functional bowel disorders,such as CAP or IBS,diagnosed according to Rome Ⅲ criteria.All patients underwent ultrasound,blood and stool examinations to rule out any organic disease.Patients were allocated to receive PHGG at dosage of 5 g/d(n = 30) or placebo(fruitjuice n = 30) for 4 wk.The evaluation of the efficacy of fiber supplement included IBS symptom severity score(Birmingham IBS Questionnaire),severity of abdominal pain(Wong-Baker Face Pain Rating Score) and bowel habit(Bristol Stool Scale).Symptom scores were completed at 2,4,and 8 wk.The change from baseline in the symptom severity scale at the end of treatment and at 4 wk follow-up after treatment was the primary endpoint.The secondary endpoint was to evaluate compliance to supplementation with the PHGG in the pediatric population.Differences within groups during the treatment period and follow-up were evaluated by the Wilcoxon signed-rank test.RESULTS:The results of the study were assessed considering some variables,such as frequency and intensity of symptoms with modifications of the bowel habit.Both groups were balanced for baseline characteristics and all patients completed the study.Group A(PHGG group) presented a higher level of efficacy compared to group B(control group),(43% vs 5%,P = 0.025) in reducing clinical symptoms with modification of Birmingham IBS score(median 0 ± 1 vs 4 ± 1,P = 0.025),in intensity of CAP assessed with the Wong-Baker Face Pain Rating Score and in normalization of bowel habit evaluated with the Bristol Stool Scale(40% vs 13.3%,P = 0.025).In IBS subgroups,statistical analysis shown a tendency toward normalization of bowel movements,but there was no difference in the prevalence of improvement in two bowel habit subsets.PHGG was therefore better tolerated without any adverse eff

Testing heteroscedasticity determines whether the regression model can predict the dependent variable consistently across all values of the explanatory variables.Since the proposed tests could not detect heteroscedasticity in all cases,more precisely in heavy-tailed distributions,the authors established new comprehensive test statistic based on Levene’s test.The authors built the asymptotic normality of the test statistic under the null hypothesis of homoscedasticity based on the recent theory of analysis of variance for the infinite factors level.The proposed test uses the residuals from a regression model fit of the mean function with Levene’s test to assess homogeneity of variance.Simulation studies show that our test yields better than other methods in almost all cases even if the variance is a nonlinear function.Finally,the proposed method is implemented through a real data-set.

This paper addresses the problem on sensor fault estimation and fault-tolerant control for a class of Takagi-Sugeno Markovian jump systems,which are subjected to sensor faults and partially unknown transition rates.First,the original plant is extended to a descriptor system,where the original states and the sensor faults are assembled into the new state vector.Then,a novel reduced- order observer is designed for the extended system to simultaneously estimate the immeasurable states and sensor faults.Second,by using the estimated states obtained from the designed observer,a state- feedback fault-tolerant control strategy is developed to make the resulting closed-loop control system stochastically stable.Based on linear matrix inequality technique,algorithms are presented to compute the observer gains and control gains.The effectiveness of the proposed observer and controller are validated by a numerical example and a compared study,respectively,and the simulation results reveal that the proposed method can successfully estimate the sensor faults and guarantee the stochastic stability of the resulting closed-loop system.

In this paper, a statistical analysis method is proposed to research life characteristics of products based on the partially accelerated life test. We discuss the statistical analysis for constant-stress partially accelerated life tests with Lomax distribution based on interval censored samples. The EM algorithm is used to obtain the maximum likelihood estimations(MLEs) and interval estimations for the shape parameter and acceleration factor.The average relative errors(AREs), mean square errors(MSEs), the confidence intervals for the parameters, and the influence of the sample size are discussed. The results show that the AREs and MSEs of the MLEs decrease with the increase of sample size. Finally, a simulation sample is used to estimate the reliability under different stress levels.
