Absorption and Fluorescence Emission Spectra of Molecules Containing Azo and/or oxadiazole Units

The ground state structures of a series of organic molecules containing azo and/or oxadiazole units were obtained by means of density functional theory B3LYP/6-3IG（d） method. The first singlet excited state structures were optimized by virtue of singlet-excitation configuration interaction CIS/6-31G（d） method. The absorption and fluorescence emission spectra were then evaluated via the time-dependent density functional theory B3LYP and PBE1PBE methods with 6-31 l＋＋G（3df,2p） basis set. The calculation results show that compared with those of their parent molecules A-H, B-H, C-H, D-H, the absorption and emission wavelength values of all the derivatives show red shifts. The derivatives containing both the oxadiazole and methoxyl units are good candidates for longer absorption wavelength materials. The effects of azo, oxadiazole, and methoxyl units on the absorption and emission wavelength were discussed.

5-（5＂-Substituted phenyl-[1＂,3＂,4＂]oxadiazol-2＂-yl methylsulfanyl）-3-pyridin-3′-yl- [1,2,4] triazol-4-yl amines la-j were quaternarized with methyl iodide to afford the corresponding methyl pyridinium salts 2a-j. The reduction of compounds 2 with NaBH4 in methanol gave the target compounds 5-（5＂-substituted phenyl-[1＂,3＂,4＂]oxadiazol-2＂-yl methylsulfanyl）-3-（1′-methyl-1＇,2＇,5＇,6＇-tetrahydropyridin-3＇-yl）-[1,2,4]triazol-4-ylamines 3a-j. The endothelium vascular relaxing activity of the target compounds were screened.

A novel high molecular weight functional polyacetylene bearing oxadiazole group as a pendant, poly{4-[2-（4-octoxyphenyl）-1,3,4-oxadiazolyl]-benzenyloxypropynylene}, was synthesized by [Rh（nbd）Cl]2-Et3N catalyst. The polymer was soluble in common organic solvents such as CHCl3 and THE The structures and properties of monomer and polymer were characterized and evaluated with FTIR, NMR, UV, TGA, GPC, and CV, respectively. The results show that the polymer possesses high thermal stability and well electron-injection property.

4-Amino-5-pyridin-4-yl-s-triazole-3-thiol （1） was sequentally reacted with 3-chloro-1- phenylpropan-1-one to afford 3-（4-amino-5-pyridin-4-yl-s-triazole-3-sulfanyl）-1-phenylpropan-1- one （2） followed by oximation with hydroxylamine hydrochloride and etherification with 5-aryl-[13,4]oxadiazole-2-cbloromethanes to the corresponding oxime （3） and oxime-ethers （4a-e）, respectively. The condensation of compounds 4 with salicylaldehyde gave the title compounds （5a-e）. The antibacterial activity in vitro against Gram-postive （G^＋） and Gram negative （G） bacteria was primarily evaluated.

The highest efficiency thermally activated delayed fluorescence(TADF)emitters in OLEDs are mostly based on twisted donor/acceptor(D/A)type organic ***,we report the rational molecular design on twisted all ortho-linked carbazole/oxadiazole(Cz/OXD)hybrids with tunable D-A interactions by adjusting the numbers of donor/acceptor units and electron-donating ***-triplet energy bandgaps(ΔEST)are facilely tuned from^0.4,0.15 to^0 eV in D-A,D-A-D to A-D-A type *** variation correlates well with triplet-excited-state frontier orbital spatial separation *** feature with solid state photoluminescence quantum yield(PLQY)<10%is observed in D-A type 2CzOXD and D-A-D type *** to the extremely lowΔEST for efficient reverse intersystem crossing,strong TADF with PLQY of 71%-92%is achieved in A-D-A type 4CzDOXD and *** external quantum efficiency from 19.4%to 22.6%is achieved in A-D-A typed 4CzDOXD and 4tCzDOXD.

Bismaleimides bearing 2,5-diphenyl-l,3,4- oxadiazole chromophores at para, meta, ortho position and corresponding saturated bissuccinimides were synthe- sized. Several synthetic strategies for these bismaleimides were discussed in detail. Almost no or very weak fluorescence was observed for these bismaleimides, however, the bissuccinimides show a strong fluorescence. The effect of molecular geometry on optical behavior and fluorescence quenching mechanism were investigated by UV-vis absorption and fluorescence emission spectro- scopy. The electron coupling of ground state of p- bismaleimide is stronger than those of m- and o- bismaleimides.p-Bissuccinimide displays increasing fluor- escence quantum yields with red shifts of 22-24 nm, compared to m-bissuccinimide. Polymerizable C=C bonds play a key role in the intramolecular fluorescence quenching.

A novel oxadiazole-based copolymer has been successfully synthesized through the palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling polycondensation method. The copolymer P is soluble in common organic solvents. Its structure has characterized by ^1H NMR, ^13C NMR, gel permeation chromatagraphy （GPC）, UV-vis absorbance （Abs） and photoluniminescence （PL） spectroscopy, and cyclic voltammetry （CV）. Investigation of its optical properties revealed that it is yellow emitting material, and the electrochemical analysis showed that P was well suited poly （2,5-dioctyloxy-p-phenylenevinylene）（PDOCPV） for photovoltaic devices, so the copolymer P is able to act as an electron acceptor in combination with PDOCPVas the electron donor to quench photoluminescence of the copolymer in the blend, indicative of the efficient photoinduced electron transfer from the PDOCPV to the P.

N,N-Di-p-tolylaminophenyl)ethenyl]phenyl}-5-(4-bromophenyl)- 1,3,4-oxadiazole (1) containing triarylamine and 2,5-diaryl-1,3,4-oxadiazole units was prepared by Horner-Witting reactions. The structure of the compound was confirmed by 1H NMR, IR, MS and elemental analyses. The crystal structure of 1 was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. UV absorption spectra and photoluminescent spectra were measured.

Three novel series of 5-substituted sulfonylurea derivatives were designed and synthesized via introducing a triazole or oxadiazole ring at the 5th position of the benzene ring in classical sulfonylurea herbicides. All the target compounds were confirmed by means of IH nuclear magnetic resonance（NMR）, 13C NMR and elemental analysis. The bioassay results show that the target compounds containing an oxadiazole ring at the 5th position display moderate to excellent herbicidal activities against Brassica campestris and Amaranthus retroflexus under soil treatment. Especially, compounds zdk20, zdk21 and zdk22 possess 98.6%, 96.5% and 94.5% inhibition rates, respectively, against Amaranthus retroflexus at a concentration of 75 g/ha（1 ha=1× 104 m2） under soil treatment, which approach to those of the commercial herbicide chlorsulfuron.
