Functional diversity of soil microbial communities in response to supplementing 50% of the mineral N fertilizer with organic fertilizer in an oat field

The effects of supplementing 50%of the mineral N fertilizer with organic fertilizer on the metabolism and diversity of soil microbial communities in an oat field were investigated using Biolog-Eco *** experiment consisted of five treatments:no fertilizer(CK),mineral N fertilizer applied at 90 and 45 kg ha^(-1) N in the form of urea(U1 and U2,respectively),and U2 supplemented with organic fertilizer in the form of sheep manure at 90 and 45 kg ha^(-1) N(U2OM1 and U2OM2,respectively).Each treatment had three *** experiment was conducted in 2018 and 2019 in Pinglu District,Shanxi Province,*** carbon source utilization by soil microbial communities,such as amino acids,amines,carbohydrates,carboxylic acids,and polymers,increased when 50%of the mineral N fertilizer was replaced with organic fertilizer in both *** result was accompanied by increased richness,dominance,and evenness of the microbial *** utilization of amino acid,amine,and carboxylic acid carbon sources and community evenness were further improved when the organic fertilizer amount was doubled in both *** analysis indicated that amines and amino acids were the most representative of the total carbon source utilization by the soil microbial communities in both *** highest oat yield was achieved at a total N application rate of 135 kg ha^(-1) in the treatment involving 45 kg ha^(-1) N in the form of urea and 90 kg ha^(-1) N in the form of sheep manure in both *** was concluded that the application of 50%of the conventional rate of mineral N fertilizer supplemented with an appropriate rate of organic fertilizer enhanced both the functional diversity of soil microbial communities and oat *** and amino acid carbon sources may be used as a substitute for total carbon sources for assessing total carbon source utilization by soil microbial communities in oat fields in future studies.

Combined application of organic fertilizer and chemical fertilizer alleviates the kernel position effect in summer maize by promoting post-silking nitrogen uptake and dry matter accumulation

Adjusting agronomic measures to alleviate the kernel position effect in maize is important for ensuring high *** order to clarify whether the combined application of organic fertilizer and chemical fertilizer(CAOFCF)can alleviate the kernel position effect of summer maize,field experiments were conducted during the 2019 and 2020 growing seasons,and five treatments were assessed:CF,100%chemical fertilizer;OFCF1,15%organic fertilizer+85%chemical fertilizer;OFCF2,30%organic fertilizer+70%chemical fertilizer;OFCF3,45%organic fertilizer+55%chemical fertilizer;and OFCF4,60%organic fertilizer+40%chemical *** with the CF treatment,the OFCF1 and OFCF2 treatments significantly alleviated the kernel position effect by increasing the weight ratio of inferior kernels to superior kernels and reducing the weight gap between the superior and inferior *** effects were largely due to the improved filling and starch accumulation of inferior ***,there were no obvious differences in the kernel position effect among plants treated with CF,OFCF3,or OFCF4 in most *** area indexes,post-silking photosynthetic rates,and net assimilation rates were higher in plants treated with OFCF1 or OFCF2 than in those treated with CF,reflecting an enhanced photosynthetic capacity and improved postsilking dry matter accumulation(DMA)in the plants treated with OFCF1 or *** with the CF treatment,the OFCF1 and OFCF2 treatments increased post-silking N uptake by 66.3 and 75.5%,respectively,which was the major factor driving post-silking photosynthetic capacity and ***,the increases in root DMA and zeatin riboside content observed following the OFCF1 and OFCF2 treatments resulted in reduced root senescence,which is associated with an increased post-silking N *** showed that post-silking N uptake,DMA,and grain yield in summer maize were negatively correlated with the kernel position *** conclusion,the combined application of

Survey on heavy metal concentrations and maturity indices of organic fertilizer in China

A nationwide survey of organic fertilizer was carried out in China,and 263 samples were collected to be analyzed for maturity indices(moisture content(MC),pH,electrical conductivity(EC),E4/E6,and germination index(GI))and 7 heavy metals(Cu,Zn,Cd,Pb,Cr,As and Ni).The MC,pH,EC,E4/E6 and GI showed large variations among the organic fertilizer samples with ranges of 6.9%-66.68%,4.40-9.19,0.76-13.38 mS/cm,1.07-9.40,and 10%-150%,*** concentrations of 7 heavy metals(Cu,Zn,Cd,Pb,As,Cr,Ni)were also with large variations at 7.53-580.4,0-2818,0.02-149.3,0(not detected)-1321,0.14-26.9,3.70-1237,and 0(not detected)-214.6 mg/kg dry *** with the limit values of the Chinese standard for organic fertilizers(NY525-2012),9.51%,73.4%,3.19%,and 3.04%of the samples exceeded the limit values of Cd,Pb,As and Cr,*** limits have been set for Cu,Zn and Ni in China,and 35.0%,13.3%and 16.7%of the samples exceeded the Cu,Zn and Ni limits for composts in Germany,*** Carlo simulations indicated that with the continuous application of organic fertilizer,Cu,Zn,Cd,Pb and Cr would accumulate to the risk control standard for soil contamination of agricultural land(GB15618-2018)within a relatively short *** is urgent to establish suitable limits of heavy metals in organic fertilizer in China to control the risk of heavy metal pollution in agricultural land.

Application of organic fertilizer for improving soybean production under acidic stress

The presence of acidic soil in rural areas poses difficulties for agricultural *** factor regulating soil pH is the overuse of inorganic *** increased use of fertilizers in soybean production not only raises sustainability concerns but also contributes to soil ***,the use of organic fertilizer could offer a solution for addressing both issues related to soil acidity and *** purpose of this study was to investigate the manipulation of soil pH using organic fertilizer for soybean production under acidic *** planting medium,consisting of a mixture of topsoil,rice husk charcoal,and organic fertilizer(in a ratio of 2:1:1),was supplemented with 0.5 g of NPK fertilizer as a basal treatment in each planting *** regulate the soil acidity to pH 4,we added FeSO_(4) and allowed the mixture to incubate for 30 *** results demonstrate that the application of three types of organic fertilizers chicken manure(P1),oil palm empty bunch fertilizer(P2),and vermicompost(P3)positively impacts the growth of three soybean *** findings indicate that the application of P2 organic fertilizer can increase vegetative growth almost 50%in soybeans on acidic soil,including plant height,leaf count,and root ***,applying P3 organic fertilizer can boost reproductive growth responses in soybeans on acidic soil,such as pod number(from around 0-4 unit to 42-51 unit),grain number(from around 0-5 unit to 88-90 unit),and grain weight(from around 0-0.37 g to 12-25 g).organic fertilizer has the potential to regulate soil pH,promoting higher yields of soybeans under acidic stress.

Effects of heavy metal(Pb) concentration on some growth parameters of plants grown in lead polluted soil under organic fertilizer amendment

This study investigated morphological variation and biomass accumulation that occurred in Sida acuta and Chromolaena odorata plants grown in lead polluted soil under organic fertilizer amendment. The study was carried out in the screen house at the Biological Gardens of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State. The experiment was a factorial combination of one heavy metal （Pb） at five levels of concentration （0, 200, 400, 800 and 1,000 mg/kg） in a completely randomized design, and were replicated three times for each of the two plants and two levels （0 g/kg and 9.4 g/kg） of organic fertilizer （OBD-Plus）. Each pot was filled with 5 kg of air-dried and sieved soil and placed on a plastic tray for the collection of excess water. Two weeks after planting, seedlings of uniform height were transplanted from the nursery to experimental pots at the rate of one seedling per pot and grown for 10 weeks. The growth parameters of the plants were biomonitored for 7 weeks. After 10 weeks of treatment, the plants were harvested and dried to calculate the biomass accumulation. The two plant species performed better under fertilizer application than without it. For each of the plant species the growth parameters decreased as the levels of Pb concentration increased. Furthermore, the plants＇ biomass decreased significantly （p 〈0.05） as the levels of Pb concentration increased. The organic fertilizer helped to improve the plants＇ performance in lead-polluted soil.

Performance of Red Onion （Bulb Type） in Fully Converted organic Area as Affected by Frequency of organic fertilizer Application Combined with Trichoderma spp,

The study was conducted to determine the viability of producing organic onion under the fully converted area of Ramon Magsaysay Center for Agricultural Resources and Environment Studies （RMC-ARES）, Central Luzon State University, Philippines. Specifically, the study aimed to establish the fi＇equency of organic fertilizer and Trichoderma spp. application, employing split application, and determine the yield performance of red onion （bulb type）. The research was conducted for two consecutive dry seasons （2014 and 2015）. Red Creole variety was used with the following treatments： T1--organic fertilizer alone （8 ton/ha） at planting; T2--organic fertilizer （8 ton/ha） applied twice （at basal and 30 d after transplanting （DAT））; T3---organic fertilizer （8 ton/ha） applied twice （at basal and 30 DAT）＋ Trichoderma spp. at the rate of 526 kg/ha applied at planting; T4----organie fertilizer at 8 ton/ha rate ＋ Trichoderma spp. at the rate of 526 kg/ha, both applied twice （at planting and 30 DAT）; T5--organic fertilizer at 8 ton/ha rate applied twice （at planting and 30 DAT）＋ Trichoderma spp. at the rate of 526 kg/ha applied thrice （at planting, 30 DAT and during bulb formation）. Results of the study showed that application of the recommended rate of organic fertilizer twice （at planting and 30 DAT）＋ three times application of Trichoderma spp. （at planting, 30 DAT and during bulb formation） consistently produced bigger bulb during the first and second trial of the study, compared to other treatments evaluated. Consequently, higher marketable yield was produced with 15.33 ton/ha during the first trial and 14.50 ton/ha on the second trial.

Screening of Fermentation Starters for organic fertilizer Composted from Chicken Manure

In order to find fermentation starters that can promote rapid and effective composting of chicken manure,shorten the fermentation period,and improve the compost quality,fermentation starters with different microbial combination ratios(C1,C2,C3,C4 and C5) were designed and fermentation experiment was carried out on these five fermentation starters,commercially available organic fertilizer starter(SS),and chicken manure without inoculating fermentation starter. In the process of the fermentation,the changes in the fermentation temperature,water content and pH value were monitored; the effects of organic manure on the germination rate and growth of rapeseed seeds were measured;viable count,water content,and pH value of prepared fermentation starters were measured; main indicators( organic matter,nitrogen,phosphorus,and potassium) of organic fertilizer generated from fermentation were measured. From the indicators,the formula C3 and C4 were better,in the beginning of fermentation,the temperature rose rapidly,and it reached 40 ℃ in the second day; the water content dropped to below 35% in the 18 th day; the pH value underwent the process of declining-rising-stable,and the overall value showed slight rise,but the change was not great( 0-0. 5). C3 and C4 fermentation products had better effects on the germination and growth of rapeseeds. The germination rate of the rapeseed seeds was 100% and 97. 5% and the bud length was 15. 94 mm and 14. 57 mm,respectively,and the root length was45. 97 mm and 39. 44 mm,respectively. The content of organic matter in fermented organic manure was 86. 62% and 85. 17% respectively,and the total content of nitrogen,phosphorus and potassium was 8. 85% and 8. 22% respectively,and the pH was 7. 5 and 8. 0 *** of these complied with the industry standard NY525-2012( organic matter ≥ 45%,and nitrogen,phosphorus,and potassium ≥ 5%,pH 5. 5-8. 5).
