A class of globally convergent conjugate gradient methods

Conjugate gradient methods are very important ones for solving nonlinear optimization problems,especially for large scale problems. However, unlike quasi-Newton methods, conjugate gradient methods wereusually analyzed individually. In this paper, we propose a class of conjugate gradient methods, which can beregarded as some kind of convex combination of the Fletcher-Reeves method and the method proposed byDai et al. To analyze this class of methods, we introduce some unified tools that concern a general methodwith the scalarβk having the form of φk/φk-1. Consequently, the class of conjugate gradient methods canuniformly be analyzed.

System identification based on NARMAX model using Hopfield networks

An approach is proposed to avoid model structure determination in system identification using NARMAX （nonlinear autoregressive moving average with exogenous inputs） model. Identification procedure is formulated as an optimization procedure of a apecial class of Hopfield network in the proposed approach. The particular structure of these Hopfield networks can avoid the local optimum problem. Training of these Hopfield network achieves model structure determination and parameter estimation. Convergence of Hopfield networks guarantees that a NARMAX model of random initial state will approach a valid identification model with accurate state parameters. Results of two simulation examples illustrate that this approach is efficient and simple.

Analysis of the Drop-in Operation of a RefrigerationSystem by the Response Surface Methodology

The objective of this study is to evaluate the gains in a drop-in process of refrigerants in a basic refrigeration system usingthe RSM （response surface methodology） to optimization. A central composite design and analysis of variance are also used. Inaddition, the model will be analyzed and compared to experimental results, consolidating various parameters to get the best regionsin a broad universe of options, with a reduced number of experiments. The RSM is a set of statistical tool, which describes the entireregion of interest through experimental specific points, by appropriate polynomial equation. The experimental results were extractedfrom a cooling test bench compound for a reciprocating compressor, evaporator, condenser and expansion valve. R22, R290, R1270,R438A, R404A, R134a, R410A and R32 were tested at the same experimental apparatus, the lubricating oil was replaced in somecases. The higher value of coefficient of performance and cooling capacity were investigated. The results obtained with the responsesurface methodology technique showed good agreement with the experimental work, （coefficient of determination exceeding 0.8）which indicates, good representation of the output variables of the cooling system. The tested optimization tools were able to identifyareas of maximum, allowing for better comparison of results obtained by different refrigerants.

为了改善汽车的被动安全性能,提出将一种单杆单筒式磁流变阻尼器应用于汽车前部吸能结构中。提出以修正Bingham塑性模型(BPM模型)为理论基础,以最大阻尼力和可调范围为优化目标,运用mode FRONTIER自带的非支配排序遗传算法(NSGA-II)对所采用的磁流变阻尼器结构参数进行多目标优化分析。优化结果表明:最大阻尼力和可调范围成反比,所用的优化算法不可能使两个优化目标同时达到最优,只能在众多前沿解中选择符合条件的优化解。优化后的磁流变阻力器磁场分布更加集中合理。

Modified Filled Function to Solve NonlinearProgramming Problem

Filled function method is an approach to find the global minimum of nonlinear functions. Many Problems, such as computing,communication control, and management, in real applications naturally result in global optimization formulations in a form ofnonlinear global integer programming. This paper gives a modified filled function method to solve the nonlinear global integerprogramming problem. The properties of the proposed modified filled function are also discussed in this paper. The results ofpreliminary numerical experiments are also reported.
