Growing high quality graphene films directly on glass by chemical vapor deposition(CVD)meets a growing demand for constructing high-performance electronic and optoelectronic ***,the graphene synthesized by prevailing methodologies is normally of polycrystalline nature with high nucleation density and limited domain size,which significantly handicaps its overall properties and device ***,we report an oxygen-assisted CVD strategy to allow the direct synthesis of 6-inch-scale graphene glass harvesting markedly increased graphene domain size(from 0.2 to 1.8μm).Significantly,as-produced graphene glass attains record high electrical conductivity(realizing a sheet resistance of 900Ω·sq^(-1)at a visible-light transmittance of 92%)amongst the state-of-the-art counterparts,readily serving as transparent electrodes for fabricating high-performance optical filter *** work might open a new avenue for the scalable production and application of emerging graphene glass materials with high quality and low cost.

A narrow linewidth Faraday anomalous dispersion optical filter(FADOF)with reflection configuration is achieved for the first time based on the cesium(Cs)ground state 6S_(1/2) to the excited state 6P_(3/2) transition at 852 *** with the conventional FADOF with transmission configuration,reflection-type FADOF can greatly improve the transmittance of optical filter under the same experimental parameters,because it allows signal light to go and return through the atomic vapor *** our experiment,peak transmittance at Cs 6S_(1/2) F=4-6P_(3/2) transition is 81%for the reflection-type FADOF,and while 54%for the transmission-type FADOF when the temperature of Cs vapor cell and the axial magnetic field are 60℃and 19 *** idea of this reflection-type FADOF design has the potential to be applied to the FADOF operating between two excited states to obtain higher transmittance.

We found that the bacteriorhodopsin (bR) film has a special property of complementary suppression modulated transmission (CSMT). The yellow and the blue beams can be suppressed mutually when both the beams illuminate the bR film simultaneously. When the blue beam carrying an image with a bright-background noise illuminates on the bR film and then a yellow beam with uniform intensity distribution illuminates the same area, the bright-background can be removed due to the CSMT. In our demonstration, the pattern model is letters ``VLSI'' with ground noise of small words and the ground noise is removed from the pattern by the new optical filter.

A novel attempt has been made in this paper for a different approach for determination of ring resonator transmittance with the help of delay line signal processing techniques and Totally Coded Method(TCM).A generalized approach for determination of transfer function in Z-domain of optical waveguide based ring resonator is *** line signal processing technique is used to develop the signal flow graph of different ring resonator architectures,and a rule is implemented to determine its overall *** parameters describing the performance of optical filter can be directly estimated from the frequency response plot.A waveguide based double ring resonator(DRR) architecture is proposed,and its frequency response analysis is carried out.

We present a new type of optical filter with an ultra-narrow bandwidth and a wide field-of-view （FOV）. This kind of optical filter consists of one-dimensional photonic crystal （PC） incorporating an anomalous-dispersion-material （ADM） with, for instance, an anomalous dispersion of 6P3/2←6S1/2 hyperfine structure transition of a caesium atom. The transmission spectra of optical filters are calculated by using the transfer-matrix method. The simulation results show that the designed optical filter has a bandwidth narrower than 0.33GHz and a wide FOV of ±30°as well. The response of transmission spectrum to an external magnetic field is also investigated.

An effective theoretical analysis method is presented to analyze different linear optical signal processing functions with optical fikers reported in literatures. For different applications, the optical filters are supposed to operate on the analog or digital part of the signal separately, namely analog spectrum conversion and digital spectrum conversion. For instance, the return-to-zero （RZ） to non-return-to-zero （NRZ） format conversion for intensity or phase modulated signals are based on the analog spectrum conversion process, while the （N）RZ to （N）RZ phase-shift-keying （PSK） format conversion, logic NOT gate and clock recovery for RZ signals are based on the digital spectrum conversion process. Theoretical analyses with the help of numerical simulation are used to verify the reported experimental results, and all the experimental results can be effectively analyzed with this analytical model. The effect of the transmission spectrum of the filter on the performance of the converted signal is investigated. The most important factor is that the theoretical analysis provides an effective way to optimize the optical filter for different optical signal processing functions.

We numerically investigate the transmission properties of a subwavelength composite hole-pillar array. As the radius of the pillar increases, the transmission properties experience a complex evolution. It is found that the magnetic dipole resonance of the pillar suppresses the surface plasmon polariton resonance （SPPR） at the gold-air interface. There are two strong transmission peaks associated with the magnetic dipole resonance of pillar and SPPR at the gold-silica interface. A peak associated with magnetic quadrupole resonance of the pillar is observed. Moreover, there is a weak peak associated with the coupling between the whispering-gallery plasmon （WGP） mode and magnetic dipole. Our work is helpful for making a dual band optical filter.

This paper gives a brief introduction to our recent works on photonic crystal(Ph C) cavities and related integrated optical structures and devices. Theoretical background and numerical methods for simulation of Ph C cavities are first presented. Based on the theoretical basis, two relevant quantities, the cavity mode volume and the quality factor are discussed. Then the methods of fabrication and characterization of silicon Ph C slab cavities are introduced. Several types of Ph C cavities are presented, such as the usual L3 missing-hole cavity, the new concept waveguide-like parallel-hetero cavity, and the low-index nanobeam cavity. The advantages and disadvantages of each type of cavity are discussed. This will help the readers to decide which type of Ph C cavities to use in particular applications. Furthermore, several integrated optical devices based on Ph C cavities, such as optical filters, channel-drop filters, optical switches, and optical logic gates are described in both the working principle and operation characteristics. These devices designed and realized in our group demonstrate the wide range of applications of Ph C cavities and offer possible solutions to some integrated optical problems.
