oomycetes and fungi:important parasites on marine algae

Considering that the field is largely unexplored and its importance to aquaculture,outline of oomycetes and fungi parasiting on marine algae was provided in this paper,including 15 species of oomycetes,six species of chytrids,31 Ascomycota species and one species of mitosporic *** natrue,both the oomycetes and chytrids frequently occurred and induced prevalences of disease which could destroy the populations of host plants ***,the parasites in Ascomycota on algae have never occurred as epidemics so *** issues relating to the field were discussed such as performing tests to satisfy Koch＇s postulates,investigations of host specificity,interactions between host and parasite and the potential effects of environmental factors on occurrence of a disease,which are urgent in need of further investigations.

Plants have a sophisticated immune system to defend against a wide range of invaders,including insects,nematodes,bacteria,oomycetes,fungi,and *** may manipulate or suppress immunity by delivering effector proteins,either to the inside or outside of plant *** attention has been focused on identifying the targets of effector proteins in the host and on characterizing how effector activities suppress immunity.

The genus Pythium in Taiwan,China(1)-a synoptic review

The heterothallic Phytophthora commonly requires two compatible mating types, A1 and A2, to complete sexual reproduction. Previous studies have shown that sexual reproduction of Phytophthora is hormones regulated and many factors can induce mating type changes. However, the mechanism of mating type determination of Phytophthora is unknown. Here, we reveal that the bisexual nature of heterothallic Phytophthora isolates and the hormone determined sexuality are regulated by histone acetylation. Treatment of TSA（HDACsinhibitor） or RNAi of HDACs induced the selfing-oospores formation by altering sex hormone production and reception. These results support a model of histone acetylation regulated sexuality determination in heterothallic Phytophthora. This finding sets a starting point for the exploration of molecular mechanism of hormone regulated sexuality of Phytophthora.
