Formation and emission characteristics of VOCs from a coal-fired power plant

on-site measurements of volatile organic compounds(VOCs)in different streams of flue gas were carried out on a real coal-fired power plant using sampling bags and SUMMA canisters to collect gas samples,filters to collect particle *** chromatography-flame ionization detector/mass spectrometry and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry was the offline analysis *** found that the total mass concentration of the tested 102 VOC species at the outlet of wet flue gas desulfuration device was(13456±47)μg·m^(-3),which contained aliphatic hydrocarbons(57.9%),aromatic hydrocarbons(26.8%),halogen-containing species(14.5%),and a small amount of oxygen-containing and nitrogencontaining *** most abundant species were 1-hexene,n-hexane and *** top ten species in terms of mass fraction(with a total mass fraction of 75.3%)were mainly hydrocarbons with a carbon number of 6 or higher and halogenated hydrocarbons with a lower carbon *** mass concentration of VOC species in the particle phase was significantly lower than that in the gas *** change of VOC mass concentrations along the air pollution control devices indicates that conventional pollutant control equipment had a limited effect on VOC *** formation potential calculations showed that aromatic hydrocarbons contributed the highest ozone formation(46.4%)due to their relatively high mass concentrations and MIR(maximum increment reactivity)values.

Design of a very large floating structure(VLFS)deployed near islands and reefs,different from those in the open sea,inevitably faces new technical challenges including numerical analysis *** this paper,a direct coupling analysis method(DCAM)has been established based on the Boussinesq equations and the three-dimensional hydroelasisity theory with Rankine source method to analyze the responses of a VLFS in shallow sea with complicated geographical *** tests have been carried out to validate the *** further verify the numerical methods and investigate the performance of such a VLFS,a“Scientific Research and Demonstration Platform(SRDP)”was built and deployed in 2019 at the site about 1000 m off an island with water depth around 40m in South China *** is a simplified small model of a two-module semi-submersible-type *** numerical simulation of its responses on severe waves with focus on motions and connector forces is conduct by DCAM,and compared with the on-site *** agreement has been *** approves the DCAM as a feasible tool for design and safety assessment of a VLFS deployed near islands and reefs.

Field Investigation and Comparison Analysis of Low-Grade Heat Pump Technologies in Building Space Heating Projects

The building sector contributes a large ratio of final energy consumption,and improving building energy efficiency is expected to play a significant role in mitigating its carbon dioxide ***,we collected the on-site measurement data to investigate the techno-economic performances of different heat pump types that exist in building space heating projects in Qingdao,*** in-depth analysis revealed the temperature variations of measured low-grade heat sources over the whole heating supply period,and urban sewage water shows high stable heat energy quality compared with seawater and geothermal heat *** behaviors including cycling inlet and outlet temperature of the selected heat pumps were illustrated,and analysis evaluated detailed effects of operational parameters on energy efficiency *** the relationship between COPs distributions of heat pumps and operational conditions was examined further,and the positive effect of the rising temperature of heat sources on energy efficiency improvement of heat pump is highlighted when the heating supply temperature is ***,we analyzed the economic and carbon emission performance of the heat pump system,and results show that electricity price plays a vital role in the lifespan energy cost saving potential,and the heat pump could serve as a promising approach in reducing CO_(2) related to the building space ***,we recommended suggestions for improving the overall energy efficiency and cost competitiveness of decentralized heat pump systems for building space heating.

Evaluation of airborne transmission risk in university towns based on IEQ surveys

This study aims to evaluate airborne transmission risk in university towns during the COVID-19 pandemic based on surveys of indoor environmental quality(IEQ).Both on-site measurements and questionnaire surveys were carried out in public buildings in university towns in Changsha,*** temperature,relative humidity,and CO 2 concentration in one library,ten classrooms,eight canteens,seven restaurants,and sixteen malls were mea-sured.2220 valid questionnaires concerning occupants’sensation on thermal environment,air movement,and indoor air quality were collected.A 3-level evaluation method of airborne transmission risk that is dependent on building type and indoor CO 2 concentration was *** CO 2 concentration is found in library(1045 ppm),classrooms(1151 ppm),restaurants(1242 ppm),and malls(1057 ppm).The percentage time of“high risk”accounts for 18-100%in these *** results reveal a serious problem:numerous public buildings in China and probably other resource limited countries are not basically prepared and equipped to cope with airborne *** fact should be taken into account when developing guidelines and formu-lating mitigation ***-time monitoring and displaying IEQ and thus the transmission risk level should be an important way to be widely implemented in public buildings.
