Effectiveness of the combination of workshops and flipped classroom model to improve tube fixation training for nursing students

BACKGROUND Tube indwelling is a key procedure in modern medicine.Careful tube setup is necessary to prevent unplanned extubation.The training for tube fixation is timeand resource-consuming,and optimal modes of training are currently being sought.Previous studies have compared workshops and flipped classroom models separately using conventional teaching strategies,but no study has examined a combination of both teaching models in nursing training.AIM To compare the effectiveness of workshops vs workshops combined with the flipped classroom model for improving tube fixation training for nursing students.METHODS This was a prospective cohort study.In this study,149 nurses who joined our hospital in 2019 underwent training using workshops combined with the flipped classroom model(experimental group),while 159 nurses who joined the hospital in 2018 received only workshop-based training(control group).The combination of workshops with the flipped classroom training model was divided into two modules:pre-class and in-class training.The participation of nurses in the training activities,onsite assessment of training,nurses’evaluation of their training,and related indicators of tube quality management were evaluated.RESULTS The average age of nurses in the control group was 22.94±0.94 years and that of nurses in the experimental group was 25.42±3.23 years(P<0.01).The qualified rate of after-class assessments for the experimental and control groups was 100.00%(average score:94.01±2.78 points)and 91.82%(average score:84.24±2.94 points),respectively(P<0.01).Most nurses in the experimental group completely agreed that the combined training was helpful to cultivate clinical thinking and independent learning ability and to master knowledge of tube fixation.In addition,the training content within the pre-class teaching video,pre-class tube atlas,pre-class main instructor guidance,in-class demonstration,and in-class practice was very informative.The experimental group had higher evaluation scores than the control group(4.88±0.38

As a stressor,cardiac surgery affects the physiology and psychology of patients,as well as their postoperative recovery.Patients tend to worry about cognitive deficiency,pain,discomfort,the risk of death,sleep,complications,and other factors,resulting in stress and anxiety.Moreover,serious adverse events,such as circulatory and respiratory dysfunction and infection,tend to occur after cardiac surgery and increase the economic burden on patients.Therefore,appropriate nursing interventions should be selected to strengthen patients’cognitive levels,compliance,and postoperative practices to accelerate their recovery,reduce complications,and shorten hospital stays so as to contribute to patients’lives and health.

Outcome of Nurses with Occupational Dermatitis

Background: Occupational dermatitis is considered as the second most common occupational disease. It accounts for 25% of all lost workdays. Several international studies reported a prevalence of occupational dermatitis in healthcare workers between 17% and 55%. This study aims to identify factors that affect the professional outcome of nurses suffering from occupational dermatitis. Methods: This was a multicenter cross-sectional study concerning nurses declared having occupational dermatitis in the central region of Tunisia. A synoptic sheet related to socio-professional and administrative data was completed. A self-administered Questionnaire going over medical and occupational characteristics was completed during a direct interview. Results: The study involved forty nurses working in four public hospitals in the center of Tunisia. Only 37 workers were included in the study. A professional reclassification was introduced among 19 workers (51% of study population). Work-station adaptation was requested in 14 cases (38%). Exposure to allergens in the workplace was eliminated in 20 cases. Two study participants were transferred to other departments (5.4%) and three people retired (8.1%). A statistically significant association was found between professional reclassification and a history of allergic manifestations (p = 0.003). Similarly, a significant association was found between professional reclassification and the allergic agent (p = 0.014). Workstation layout was significantly associated with a history of allergic manifestations (p = 0.039), the palm hand location (p = 0.04), professional eviction (p Conclusion: This study identified the main factors influencing the occupational outcome of nurses suffering from occupational dermatitis. This outcome depended on a history of atopy (especially allergic rhinitis) and sensitization to allergens (thiuram mix).

Analysis of the Clinical Value of Psychological Intervention in Gastric Cancer Care

Objective: To analyze the application value of psychological intervention in gastric cancer nursing. Methods: This study analyzes gastric cancer patients admitted to hospitals from May 2022 to May 2023. Based on research requirements and patient willingness, 80 patients were selected and divided into observation and control groups using a lottery method. The control group received conventional nursing care, while the observation group received psychological intervention in addition to conventional nursing care. Results: After the psychological intervention, patients in the observation group showed significant improvements in anxiety and depression, better sleep quality, remarkable enhancement in psychological resilience, higher levels of health literacy, and increased nursing satisfaction compared to the control group (P nursing care of gastric cancer patients enhances their psychological adjustment ability and improves treatment adherence.

Cerebral infarction(CI)is also known as ischemic stroke.It is one of the most common cerebrovascular diseases,with high mortality and disability rate,which has seriously threatened human health.To better apply the diagnosis and treatment plan of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine to the treatment of patients with CI,the Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine issued the Expert Consensus on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Cerebral Infarction with the Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine in 2021.It involves etiology and pathogenesis of CI,diagnosis and treatment standards of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)and Western Medicine,syndrome elements of TCM,as well as rehabilitation nursing of CI with integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine during acute period and recovery period.This study interprets the consensus from routine nursing,dietary nursing,emotional nursing,complication nursing,rehabilitation nursing,and continuous nursing,aiming to provide evidence-based support for clinical TCM nursing practice.

As one of the most common malignant tumors in the world,colorectal cancer(CRC)is accompanied by a variety of symptoms in the process of disease development and treatment,which seriously affect the functional state and quality of life of patients.In China,comprehensive intervention measures of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)play an indispensable role in the treatment and rehabilitation of CRC.In order to further standardize and improve the treatment and management of CRC by medical staff,the Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine issued the“Expert Consensus for Diagnosis and Treatment of Colorectal Cancer with Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine”in August 2021.This paper interprets this consensus in detail from the perspective of nursing,focusing on the common understanding of the pathogenesis of CRC,TCM diagnosis and syndrome differentiation,integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine nursing,TCM characteristic therapies,etc.,with a view to deepening the understanding and practical application of the consensus among clinical doctors and nurses and improving the level of diagnosis,treatment,and nursing of CRC.
