The method introduced by Duguet is adopted to derive a separable form of the pairing interaction in the ^1So channel from a bare or an effective nucleon-nucleon （NN） interaction in nuclear matter. With this approach the separable pairing interaction reproduces the pairing properties provided by its corresponding NN interaction. In this work, separable forms of pairing interactions in the ^1So channel for the bare NN interaction, Bonn potential and the Gogny effective interaction are obtained. It is found that the separable force of the Gogny effective interaction in the 1So channel has a clear link with the bare NN interaction. With such a simple separable form pairing properties provided by the Gogny force in nuclear matter can be reproduced.

Effects of excluded volume of nucleons on nuclear matter are studied, and the nuclear properties that follow from different relativistic mean-field model parametrizations are compared. We show that, for all tested parametrizations, the resulting volume energy al and the symmetry energy J are around the acceptable values of 16 MeV and 30 MeV, and the density symmetry L is around 100 MeV. On the other hand, models that consider only linear terms lead to incompressibility Ko much higher than expected. For most parameter sets there exists a critical point （pc, δc）, where the minimum and the maximum of the equation of state are coincident and the incompressibility equals zero. This critical point depends on the excluded volume parameter r. If this parameter is larger than 0.5 fm, there is no critical point and the pure neutron matter is predicted to be bound. The maximum value for neutron star mass is 1.85M⊙, which is in agreement with the mass of the heaviest observed neutron star 4U0900-40 and corresponds to r = 0.72 fm. We also show that the light neutron star mass （1.2M⊙） is obtained for r ≌ 0.9 fro.

We have calculated the in-medium magnetic moments of octet baryons in the presence of hot and dense symmetric nuclear matter. Effective magnetic moments of baryons have been derived from medium modified quark masses within the chiral SU（3） quark mean field model. Further, for better insight into the medium modification of baryonic magnetic moments, we have considered the explicit contributions from the valence quarks, sea quarks and the sea orbital angular momentum of sea quarks. These effects have been successful in giving the description of baryonic magnetic moments in vacuum. The magnetic moments of baryons are found to vary significantly as a function of density of nuclear medium.

We have calculated and compared the three-body force effects on the properties of nuclear matter under the gap and continuous choices for the self-consistent auxiliary potential within the Brueckner-Hartree-Fock approach by adopting the Argonne Vls and the Bonn B two-body potentials plus a microscopic three-body force （TBF）. The TBF provides a strong repulsive effect on the equation of state of nuclear matter at high densities for both the gap and continuous choices. The saturation point turns continuous choice is adopted. Density-dependent parametrization models of the nucleon-meson coupfing constants, including the isovector scalar δ-field, are applied to asymmetric nuclear matter. The nuclear equation of state （EOS） and the neutron star properties are studied in a relativistic Lagrangian density, using the relativistic mean field （RMF） hadron theory. It is known that the δ-field in the constant coupling scheme leads to a larger repulsion in dense neutron-rich matter and to a definite splitting of proton and neutron effective masses, finally influences the stability of the neutron stars. We use density-dependent models of the nucleon-meson couplings to study the properties of neutron star matter and to reexamine the （^-field effects in asymmetric nuclear matter. Our calculation shows that the stability conditions of the neutron star matter can be improved in presence of the δ-meson in the density-dependent models of the coupling constants. The EOS of nuclear matter strongly depends on the density dependence of the interactions.

We provide a microscopic calculation of neutron-proton and proton-proton cross sections in symmetric nuclear matter at various densities, using the Brueckner Hartree-Fock approximation scheme with the Argonne Va4 potential including the contribution of microscopic three-body force. We investigate separately the effects of three-body force on the effective mass and on the scattering amplitude. In the present calculation, the rearrangement contribution of three-body force is considered, which will reduce the neutron and proton effective mass, and depress the amplitude of cross section. The effect of three body force is shown to be repulsive, especially in high densities and large momenta, which will suppress the cross section markedly.

In the mean field approximation of nonlinear relativistic a-ω-p model, we have studied the influence of density-dependent coupling constants between nucleons and mesons on the equation of state （EOS） of infinite symmetric nuclear matter in different conditions. We find that the EOS of nuclear matter will become stiffer as e, d in the self- interaction of σ meson increase when the coeffcients except aω in Гω, in which the opposite occurs, are fixed. On the other hand, greater values of aσ, bσ, cσ, aω, dω and smaller values of dσ, bω, cω will lead to stiffer EOS ifc and d are fixed. Besides, greater values of Гω lead to stiffer EOS in high density region for the EOS with same incompressibility coefficient at saturation density.

The properties of hot asymmetric nuclear matter are studied in the framework of the finite temperature Brueckner–Hartree–Fock theory that is extended to include the contribution of microscopic three-body forces. We give the variation of the critical temperature with the asymmetry parameter and show the effect brought by this three-body repulsive potential on the value of the critical asymmetry of the phase transition for asymmetric nuclear matter. Owing to the additional repulsion provided by three-body forces, this value decreases. In addition, the domain of mechanical instability for hot nuclear matter is also indicated, which gradually shrinks with increasing asymmetry and temperature.
