New Fossil Reptile Records from the Siwalik of north india

From the Siwalik Group of Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, new fossil reptile records are described. The Siwalik fauna from Haryana and Himachal is recorded from the pre-Pinjor and Pinjor beds (Upper Siwalik Subgroup: Pliocene—Lower Pleistocene). The reptile fauna includes Crocodylus aff. palustris, Gavialis cf. gangeticus, Rhamphosuchus crassidens, Batagur sp., Geoclemys hamiltoni and Hardella thurjii. The findings are significant as fossil reptiles from the Siwalik Group are scanty as compared to the richer mammalian fauna.

Risk factors of type 2 diabetes in population of Jammu and Kashmir, india

We sought to identify risk factors for type 2 diabetes （T2D） in Jammu and Kashmir populations, india. A total of 424 diabetic and 226 non-diabetic subjects from Jammu, and 161 diabetic and 100 non-diabetic subjects from Kashmir were screened for various parameters including fasting blood glucose level, 2 hour glucose level, urea, creatinine, triglycerides, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol （HDL-C）, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol （LDL-C）, very low-density lipoprotein （VLDL-C）, uric acid, systolic and diastolic blood pressure lev- el. We found that subjects aged 40-49 years had the highest rate of diabetes, with family income playing not much of a role. Kashmiri migrants or populations with rapid cultural, environmental, social or lifestyle change along with reduced physical activity, obesity and unhealthy lifestyle （smoking and alcohol consumption） were found to have higher rates of diabetes. High blood glucose, triglycerides and low HDL-C levels were found to be con- tributing to disease outcome. High blood pressure also contributed to a higher risk of developing T2D. Our study supports earlier reports confirming the contribution of comfortable life style, Western dietary habits and rapid life style change along with many other factors to the prevalence of diabetes. This may contribute to the epidemic proportion of diabetes in Jammu and Kashmir. Early diagnosis and routine screening for undiagnosed diabetes in obese subjects and subjects with parental diabetes history is expected to decrease the burden of chronic diabetic complications worldwide.

Literature is an important part of social exhibits and literature cannot be produced without observing socio-politico *** research paper is a study of‘Social History of Medicine’through analysing the Hindi,Urdu and English literary texts published in colonial north india from 1900 to *** novels and eight short stories have been consulted,which focuses on the condition of public health structure and medicine,for this research *** research explores the relation between literature and society,and the impact of socio-political notions of society reflected in *** changes in the field of medicine began in late nineteenth century and in the early twentieth century elite class and emerging middle class started to opt for allopathic medicine instead of traditional medical systems of india *** and *** research paper gives insights of changing social perception regarding *** sub-continent witnessed many epidemics during the period of study and this research paper reflects the difficulties faced by common people due to these diseases as colonial health care system was not able to treat people due to lack of health facilities,even where medical treatment was available,people were afraid of negative impact of medicine on their *** research paper also talks about the essence of religion in the field of medicine and prevalent orthodoxy among practitioners of ayurveda and unani.
