In an ion trap with ideal configurations, one single ion moves harmonically under the action of a pure quadrupole potential. This paper first proposes an infinite class of 2k-variable Boolean functions with high nonlinearity.and high algebraic degree. Then an infinite class of balanced Boolean functions are proposed by modifying the above Boolean functions. This class of balanced Boolean functions have optimal algebraic degree and high nonlinearity. Both classes have optimal algebraic immunity based on a general combinatorial conjecture.

A numerical method to analyze the failure load of reinforced concrete columns under bieccentric loading is presented. This method takes into account both material nonlinearity.and geometric nonlinearity. The nonlinear constitutive relationships of concrete and steel bars are simulated by some cubic-splines. The derived element stiffness matrices are simple addition of the small-displacement stiffness matrix, geometric stiffness matrix and interaction component matrix. The element model may be used to analyze the ultimate load according to the material strength or stable limits . The formulations of reinforced concrete column elements derived here may also be used for beams or columns with arbitrary cross-section. The standard finite element approach presented in this paper is compatible with other finite element models. The theoretical results agree well with the experimental data.

In this paper we investigate the dendritic formation of a discotic liquid crystal RHO as well as their growth characters and time evolution. The experiment shows that the dendritic structure of RHO mesophase is sensitive to the surface treatment, the thickness of the liquid film and the basal wall. The tip speed of the dendrite keeps constant when cooling the sampie continuously. A linear dependence of the tip speed of the dendrite on the cooling rate has been given. In order to explain the contradiction between the experiment and the present simplified theory, we suggest that the thermal fluctuation and dimension play an important role under the condition of far-away-from-the-equilibrium-state and continuous cooling.

The approximate equations for self- and mutual-inductance can be further investigated. In addition, the general characteristic equations for the four fundamental elements in three situations are basically completed. This new development not only reveals theoretically the characteristics of the four fundamental electronic elements, but also practically deals with all the media from linearity to nonlinearity. This will meet all the purposes of application. Hence, it is very important and significant to the development of the science of electronic elements.
