Polymeric carbon nitride has been widely developed as a promising photocatalyst for solar hydrogen production via photocatalytic water splitting.However,pristine carbon nitride prepared by traditional solid-state polymerization usually encounters issues such as rapid carrier recombination and insufficient absorption of visible light below 460 nm.Herein,poly(heptazine imide)with a distinctive nanoplate structure was synthesized in a binary molten salt of NaCl–CaCl_(2).The salt template allows the formation of the thin nanoplate structure,which promotes the charge separation and migration.Besides,the intercalation of Ca^(2+)ions between the conjugated layers endows the activation of n–π*electron transition due to the distortion of in-plane heptazine layers.Accordingly,the optimized poly(heptazine imide)nanoplates achieve an apparent quantum efficiency of up to 17.3%at 500 nm for photocatalytic hydrogen production from water.This work shares new idea for rational control of the optical absorption and charge carrier dynamics of poly(heptazine imide).

A quasi-continuum model of plate-type nanomaterials with the face-centered cubic crystal structures is proposed in this paper.The fundamental governing equations for the nonlinear bending of the nanoplates are given by using the principle of minimum potential energy.Specifically,the analytical solution is derived for cylindrical bending deformation of the structure under uniform transverse loading fixed at two sides based on the modified iterative method.A lattice finite element model is established to verify the present quasi-continuum model.Meanwhile,the corresponding solution by adopting the classical continuous plate theory is presented,in which two cases are considered for use of bulk values(limit values)and nanovalues of both elastic modulus and Poisson's ratio.The difference among the quasi-continuum and continuous models are discussed by computation.

Well-tailored nanomaterials with a single-crystal character provide ideal building blocks for on-chip plasmonic devices.Although colloidal methods have demonstrated mastery over the synthesis of such structures,it has proven quite difficult to deploy these same nanomaterials on substrate surfaces in a highly deterministic manner where precise control over position and orientation is ensured.Herein,we demonstrate a room-temperature two-reagent liquid-phase seed-mediated synthesis of gold nanoplates directly on substrate surfaces in arrays over a square-centimeter area.The synthesis is reliant on benchtop lithographic and directed-assembly processes that give rise to single-crystal seeds of gold that express both an epitaxial relationship with the underlying substrate and the internal defect structure required to promote a two-dimensional growth mode.The resulting structures are highly faceted and,because seed-substrate epitaxy is imposed upon the growing nanoplates,are identically aligned on the substrate surface.Nanoplate yields are increased to values as high as 95%using a post-processing sonication procedure that selectively removes a small population of irregularly shaped nanostructures from the substrate surface,and in doing so,gives rise to an uncompromised plasmonic response.The work,therefore,advances the techniques needed to integrate single-crystal nanomaterials with wafer-based technologies and provides leading-edge capabilities in terms of defining large-area arrays of plasmonic structures with the nanoplate geometry.

Lead-free bismuth-based halide perovskites and their analogues have attracted research interest for their high stability and optoelectronic properties.However,the morphology-controlled synthesis of bismuth-based perovskite nanocrystals has been rarely demonstrated.Herein,we report the colloidal synthesis of zero-dimensional(0D)Cs3BiCl6 nanosheets(NSs),Cs3Bi2Cl9 NSs/nanoplates(NPs)and Cs4MnBi2Cl12 NPs through a hot-injection method.We demonstrate that the Cs3BiCl6 NSs,as an initial product of Cs3Bi2Cl9 and Cs4MnBi2Cl12 NPs,can transform into Cs3Bi2Cl9 NSs or Cs4MnBi2Cl12 NPs via Cl-induced metal ion insertion reactions under the templating effect of Cs3BiCl6.This growth mechanism is also applicable for the synthesis of Cs4CdBi2Cl12 nanoplates.Furthermore,the alloying of Cd2+into Cs4MnBi2Cl12 lattice could weaken the strong coupling effect between Mn and Mn,which leads to a prolonged photoluminescence lifetime and an enhanced photoluminescence quantum yield(PLQY).As a proof of concept,the alloyed Cs4MnxCd1–xBi2Cl12 NPs are used as a scintillator,which show a lowest detection limit of 134.5 nGy/s.The X-ray imaging results display a high spatial resolution of over 20 line pairs per millimeter(lp/mm).These results provide new insights in the synthesis of anisotropic bismuth-based perovskite nanocrystals and their applications in radiation detection.

nanoplates have been widely used as elementary components for ultrasensitive and ultrafine resolution applications in the field of nano-electro-mechanical systems because of their potentially remarkable mechanical properties.The accurate analysis of their mechanical behavior is currently of particular interest in the function design and reliability analysis of nano-scaled devices.To examine the size-dependent bending and vibration behavior of nanoplates with curvilinear and irregular shapes,a new p-version curved C^(1)finite element is formulated in the framework of the nonlocal Kirchhoff plate model.This newly developed element not only enables an accurate geometry representation and easy mesh generation of curvilinear domains but also overcomes the difficulty of imposing C^(1)conformity required by the nonlocal Kirchhoff plate model,particularly on the curvilinear inter-element boundaries.Numerical examples show that this element can produce an exponential rate of convergence even when curved elements are used in the domain discretization.Vast numerical results are presented for nanoplates with various geometric shapes,including rectangular,circular,elliptic,annular,and sectorial.The high accuracy of the present element is verified by comparing the obtained results with analytical and numerical results in the literature.Additionally,a comprehensive parametric analysis is conducted to investigate the influences of nonlocal parameters,plate dimensions,and boundary conditions on the nonlocal behavior of nanoplates.The present element can be envisaged to allow large-scale mechanical simulations of nanoplates,with a guarantee of accuracy and efficiency.

The development of Pt-based core/shell nanoparticles represents an emerging class of electrocatalysts for fuel cells, such as methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) and ethanol oxidation reaction (EOR). Here, we present a one-pot synthesis approach to prepare hexagonal PtBi/Pt core/shell nan ostructure composed of an in termetallic PtiBii core and an ultrathi n Pt shell with well-defined shape, size, and composition.The structure and the synergistic effect among different components enhanced their MOR and EOR performanee. The optimized Pt2Bi nanoplates exhibit excellent mass activities in both MOR (4,820 mA·mgpt^-1) and EOR (5,950 mA·mgpt^1) conducted in alkaline media, which are 6.15 times and 8.63 times higher than those of commercial Pt/C, respectively. Pt2Bi nan opiates also show superior operati on durability to commercial Pt/C. This work may inspire the rational design and synthesis of Pt-based nanoparticles with improved performance for fuel cells and other applications.

Lead halide perovskites have received tremendous attentions recently for their excellent properties such as high light absorption coefficient and long charge carrier diffusion length. However, the stability issues and the existence of toxic lead cations have largely limited their applications in optoelectronic area. Herein, we report the synthesis and investigation of highly stable and lead-free Cs3Bi2I9 perovskite nanoplates for visible light photodetection applications. The Cs3Bi2I9 nanoplates were synthesized through a facile solution-processed method, which is also applicable to various substrates. The achieved nanoplates present very good crystal quality and exhibit excellent long-term stability even exposed in moist air for several months. Photodetectors were constructed based on these high-quality perovskite nanoplates for the first time, and display a maximum photoresponsivity of 33.1 mA/W under the illumination of 450 nm laser, which is six times higher than the solution-synthesized CH3NH3PbI3 nanowire photodetectors. The specific detectivity of these devices can reach up to 10^10 Jones. Additionally, the devices exhibit fast rise and decay time of 10.2 and 37.2 ms, respectively, and highly stable photoswitching behavior with their photoresponse well retaining under alternating light and darkness. This work opens up a new opportunity for stable and low-toxic perovskite-based optoelectronic applications.

A three-dimensional(3D)asymptotic theory is reformulated for the static analysis of simply-supported,isotropic and orthotropic single-layered nanoplates and graphene sheets(GSs),in which Eringen’s nonlocal elasticity theory is used to capture the small length scale effect on the static behaviors of these.The perturbation method is used to expand the 3D nonlocal elasticity problems as a series of two-dimensional(2D)nonlocal plate problems,the governing equations of which for various order problems retain the same differential operators as those of the nonlocal classical plate theory(CST),although with different nonhomogeneous terms.Expanding the primary field variables of each order as the double Fourier series functions in the in-plane directions,we can obtain the Navier solutions of the leading-order problem,and the higher-order modifications can then be determined in a hierarchic and consistent manner.Some benchmark solutions for the static analysis of isotropic and orthotropic nanoplates and GSs subjected to sinusoidally and uniformly distributed loads are given to demonstrate the performance of the 3D nonlocal asymptotic theory.

Due to the serious harm of diabetes to human health,development of sensitive assays for glucose level is of high significance for early prevention and treatment of diabetes.Currently,most conventional enzyme-based glucose sensors suffer from high cost and low stability due to the inherent defects of natural enzymes.Herein,we develop a pure nanozyme-based glucose detection method using Ag@Au core/shell triangular nanoplates(TNPs),which combines glucose oxidase(GOD)-and horseradish peroxidase(HRP)-like activities of the Au shell and inherent plasmonic properties of Ag TNPs.The sensing mechanism is based on the fact that the Au shell possessed GOD-like activity,enabling the oxidation of glucose to produce H2O2,which can further etch the silver core,leading to the decrease of absorbance at 800 nm and the color change from blue to colorless.Compared with the previous nanozymes-based glucose sensors,our method avoids the use of enzymes and organic chromogenic agent.Moreover,the stability of the Ag@Au core/shell TNPs is much better than that of Ag TNPs due to the protection by the coating of the Au shell.This method was successfully applied to the detection of urine samples from patients with diabetes,indicating its practical applicability for real sample analysis.

α-Fe_2O_3 nanoplates with superior electrochemical performance for lithium-ion batteries

On account of the high theoretical capacity, high corrosion resistance, environmental benignity, abundant availability and low cost, the research on a-Fe_2O_3 has been gradually fastened on as promising anodes materials toward lithium-ion batteries(LIBs). A high-performance anode for LIBs based on α-Fe_2O_3 nanoplates have been selectively prepared. The α-Fe_2O_3 nanoplates can be synthesized with iron ionbased ionic liquid as iron source and template. The α-Fe_2O_3 nanoplates as the anode of LIBs can display high capacity of around1950 mAh g^(-1) at 0.5 A g^(-1) which have exceeded the theoretical capacity of α-Fe_2O_3. On account of unique nanoplate structures and gum arabic as binder, the α-Fe_2O_3 nanoplates also exhibit high rate capability and excellent cycling performance.
