Lifetime maximization via joint channel and power assignment for incremental-relay multi-channel systems

A comprehensive resource optimization framework is designed for incremental amplify-andforward orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(AF-OFDM) relaying systems to maximize the network lifetime. Specifically, joint channel and power assignment, i.e., all degrees of freedom such as incremental policy, channel pairing, relay selection, and power allocation, are optimized with quality of service(QoS)constraints. The lifetime maximization problem is formulated as a mixed-integer nonlinear programming which at first glance seems mathematically intractable. However, a two-nested search loop, in which the outer loop varies the lifetime based on bisection criterion until finding the optimum while the inner loop attempts to derive the corresponding feasible solution set for that given lifetime by employing dual decomposition and subgradient techniques, is then presented to solve it. Numerical results are shown to verify the near-optimality and the effectiveness of our proposal.

This paper considers a robust decentralized H control problem for multi-channel continuous-time *** uncertainties are assumed to be time-invariant,norm-bounded,and exist in the system,delay and control input *** interest is focused on dynamic output feedback.A sufficient condition for an uncertain multi-channel continuous-time delay system to be robustly stabilizable with H norm is derived in terms of a nonlinear matrix inequality(NMI) .A two-stage homotopy method is employed to solve the NMI ***,a decentralized controller for the nominal continuous-time delay system is computed by imposing block-diagonal constraints on the coefficient matrices of the controller ***,the decentralized controller is modified,again gradually,to cope with the *** each stage,groups of variables are fixed alternately at the iterations to reduce the NMI to linear matrix inequalities(LMIs) .An example is given to show the usefulness of this method.
