Floristic Diversity, Stand Structure and Plant Life Traits in the Forest-Savanna mosaic at Ndjole (Centre Cameroon)

With the aim of assessing floristic diversity, stand structure and vegetation ecology, the present work was carried out in the savanna mosaic forest of the locality of Ndjole (Centre Cameroon). A total of 30 floristic plots of 40 m × 40 m (1600 m2) were delineated in the different ecosystems (forest, forest-savanna contact zone and the savanna). Within each plot, all individuals with a diameter at breast height ≥ 10 cm at 1.30 m were taken into account. ANOVA was used to compare the means of the diversity indices of the different ecosystems, and the DUNCAN test at 5% significance level (XLSTAT 2016) to separate these means. A total of 85 species belonging to 67 genera and 33 families were recorded. That is, 68 species in semi-caducifolia forest, 45 in forest-savanna contact zone and 18 in savanna. Urticaceae, Combretaceae, Apocynaceae, Myristicaceae and Euphorbiaceae are the most diverse families in the forest. On the other hand, in contact zones, the Euphorbiaceae, Fabaceae, Annonaceae and Moraceae families are the most diversified, while in the savannas, the Combretaceae, Fabaceae and Annonaceae families are the most diversified. Shannon’s diversity index values (1.7 to 2.37 bits) reflect low specific diversity;Piélou’s equitability (0.86 to 0.9) shows good distribution of individuals within species. The diametric structure of woody species shows an inverted “J” shape in all plant communities. This indicates a high regeneration potential characterized by a greater number of small trees than large trees. Mesophanerophytes and megaphanerophytes are dominant in forests and forest-savanna contact zones, and microphanerophytes in the savannas. Endozoochory is the main mode of diaspore dissemination. As regards the distribution of phytogeographical types, it shows the overall dominance of Guineo-Congolese species in all plant communities. Instant Digital Express iDEAL-CIO The “Magic Lamp” for Cloud Intelligence Outlet, which has been recommended, combines innovations to satisfy modern users’ needs and efficiently sift through the ever-expanding amount of intelligent content stored in the cloud. One such innovation introduces a ground-breaking concept to remove superfluous and outdated sequential search patterns that overwhelm the user and computer in order to better serve the user in an eclectic & elastic and multidimensional approach to finding, grouping, assimilation, organizing, and delivering archival content. The cloud intelligence outlet (CIO) is presented in this article as the perfect magic lamp option for quick digital express advocacy. The grouping, indexing, folding, and targeting (GIFT) method of multidimensional online synthetic/analytical intelligent content (mosaic) for adaptive intelligence is the fundamental intelligent aggregation and automated process of the Magic Lamp. Three perspectives above this new ideal framework are available to observe: The Magic Lamp proposes contextual and multiple analytical tracks to improve cloud intelligence services conceptually. Technically speaking, mosaic combines domain-specific services for a wide range of international users, and through the usage of Cloud Intelligence Outlet, GIFT operationally activates grouping, indexing, folding, and targeting to promote decent experience and in-depth research on target for users’ wants. Because of this, iDEAL-CIO works in tandem with cloud extraction, digital transformation, and archival loading to provide improved service through the readily accessible cloud intelligence outlet.

mosaic trisomy 12 is a rare genetic condition with a highly variable phenotype.Clinical features associated with this condition include developmental delay,intellectual disability,dysmorphic facial features,short stature,pigmentary dysplasia,complex congenital heart defects and hypotonia(Table 1).To date,20 patients have been described in which mosaic trisomy 12 was observed in both extraembryonic and neonatal/infant tissues.

Dear Editor,Structural aberrations of the Y chromosome,including deletions,ring chromosomes,Y-autosomal or Y-X translocations,isochromosomes,and dicentrics,occur in approximately 0.2%of live births;1 among these,partial deletion in the azoospermia factor(AZF)region of the Y chromosome is a well-characterized cause of nonobstructive severe oligozoospermia and azoospermia.2 Meanwhile,a dicentric Y chromosome,abbreviated as dic(Y),was observed to be exclusively present in males with azoospermia,suggesting more severe negative consequences of the AZF deletion for spermatogenesis.

Discernible image mosaic with edge-aware adaptive tiles

We present a novel method to produce discernible image mosaics, with relatively large image tiles replaced by images drawn from a database, to resemble a target image. Compared to existing works on image mosaics, the novelty of our method is two-fold.Firstly, believing that the presence of visual edges in the final image mosaic strongly supports image perception,we develop an edge-aware photo retrieval scheme which emphasizes the preservation of visual edges in the target image. Secondly, unlike most previous works which apply a pre-determined partition to an input image, our image mosaics are composed of adaptive tiles, whose sizes are determined based on the available images in the database and the objective of maximizing resemblance to the target image. We show discernible image mosaics obtained by our method, using image collections of only moderate size. To evaluate our method, we conducted a user study to validate that the image mosaics generated present both globally and locally appropriate visual impressions to the human observers. Visual comparisons with existing techniques demonstrate the superiority of our method in terms of mosaic quality and perceptibility.

Dear Editor,The geminiviruses are small single-stranded plant DNA viruses belonging to the family Geminiviridae,which cause serious diseases in many economically important crops world-wide.Geminiviruses typically infect the differentiated leaf cells or vascular tissues,and multiply progeny DNA in the nucleus of infected cells.Geminiviruses encoding replication initiator protein(Rep)is essential for viral genome replication,but Rep does not possess DNA polymerase activity and relies heavily on host DNA replication machine for replication(Hanley-Bowdoin et al.2000).

As a typical plant virus which has biocompatibility and high transfection efficiency,tobacco mosaic virus(TMV)has shown broad application potential in drug or gene delivery field.Elucidating its intracellular trafficking is of great importance in investigation of its cytotoxicity,targeting site,and delivery efficiency,and is advantageous to designing new TMV-based drug delivery systems with different targets.By taking advantage of the regulated pH value of different organelles in a mammalian cell,we exploit a pH detection strategy to investigate the intracellular trafficking pathway of TMV.Here,we report a single-wavelength excited ratiometric fluorescent pH probe.This probe is constructed by simultaneously coupling pH-sensitive fluorescein isothiocyanate(FITC)and pH-insensitive rhodamine B isothiocyanate(RBIRC)onto the inner surface of TMV.The fluorescence intensity ratio of FITC to RBITC excited at 488 nm responds specifically towards pH value over other interferential agents.By taking use of this single-wavelength excited ratiometric pH probe and confocal laser scanning microscopy,it is shown that the endocytosed TMV is located in a pH decreasing microenvironment and eventually enters lysosomes.This work may provide important guidance on construction of TMV-based nano carriers.

Comparative transcriptome analysis reveals differential gene expression in resistant and susceptible tobacco cultivars in response to infection by cucumber mosaic virus

Cucumber mosaic virus(CMV) is one of the most severe viral diseases transmitted by aphids infecting Solanum crops in China, causing great losses of crop yields and income in rural communities.The tobacco cultivars NC82 and Taiyan 8 are closely related but differ in resistance to CMV.NC82 is susceptible to infection and Taiyan 8 is resistant, but the mechanisms underlying this difference in resistance are not clear.In this study, we conducted RNA sequencing to analyze changes in gene expression induced in the leaves of Taiyan 8 and NC82 upon systemic infection with CMV, compared with gene expression in the leaves of mock-inoculated plants.Leaves were sampled at one, three, eight, and 15 days after infection.In total, 3443 and 747 differentially expressed genes were identified in Taiyan 8 and NC82, respectively.Gene ontology and pathway enrichment analyses revealed that the different responses to CMV infection between cultivars were based on microtubulebased processes, pentose and glucuronate interconversions, plant–pathogen interaction,and hormone signal transduction pathways.Genes encoding pathogenesis-related proteins, disease-resistance proteins, lipoxygenase, cellulose synthase, an auxin response factor, and an ethylene receptor showed different expression patterns.The differences in gene expression following CMV infection likely contributed to the different resistance levels of these two tobacco cultivars.The comprehensive transcriptome dataset described here,which includes candidate response genes, will serve as a resource for further studies of the molecular mechanisms associated with tobacco defense responses against CMV.

Chinese wheat mosaic virus: A long-term threat to wheat in China

In China, a soil-borne virus causing a disease of winter wheat and associated with Polymyxa graminis, has been reported for many years and is now recognized as a new species, Chinese wheat mosaic virus(CWMV). Since the determination of its genomic sequence, more progress has been made in understanding its genomic structure and functions. Molecular and serological methods have been developed to help survey the distribution of the virus and to provide the basic information needed for disease forecasting and control. At present, the best countermeasure is cultivation of resistant wheat varieties. In addition, development and application of some auxiliary countermeasures, such as rotation of non-host crops, delayed seed-sowing, reasonable application of nitrogen fertilizer, and treatment of imported seeds with fungicides before sowing, may be helpful for controlling the disease. The viral distribution and damage, virion properties, genome organization and spontaneous mutation, temperature sensitivity, and disease management options are here reviewed and/or discussed to help in developing more cost-effective countermeasures to control the disease in the future.
