The moisture generated by the ageing of the oil-paper insulating system can easily lead to the deterioration of the performance of the insulating paper.In order to alleviate the impact of moisture on the performance of the insulating paper,we developed a kind of lipophilic hydrophobic self-repairing cellulose insulating paper(new insulating paper)based on the ternary system of polytetrafluoroethylene,fluorocarbon surfactant and fluorinated alkyl silane,and accelerated thermal ageing test for 45 days at 130°C was carried out.The experimental results show that the new insulating paper with excellent lipophilic property can realise hydrophobic self-repairing through heat treatment after physical damage.The tensile strength and elongation at break of the new insulating paper increased by 5%–8%and 6.25%–27%respectively compared with the original cellulose insulating paper.At the end of ageing,the relative dielectric constant and dielectric loss factor of new insulating paper are 10.4%and 9.9%lower than that of the original cel-lulose insulating paper,while the breakdown voltage is 6.8%higher.The acid and moisture content produced during the ageing process of the insulating oil impregnated with new insulating paper are also less,indicating that the coating can delay the ageing of the insulating paper.

With the increasing concern of energy crisis and global warming,the whole globe is in an urgent need to develop clean energy that comes from renewable sources and does not harm the environment to fulfill the carbon neutralization and green earth commitments.Water is the most abundant substance on earth and has been historically used as the major energy carriers in watermill,water wheel,hydroelectricity.moisture electricity generation is another emerging technology that can convert lowgrade energy in the widely-accessible moisture to electricity simply by the integration of moisture,electrodes,deliberatelydesigned hygroscopic films.Recent research on moisture electricity generators(MEGs)led to the creation of a series of selfpowered sensors and in some occasions they have replaced conventional batteries to power miniaturized devices.In this review,the basic mechanisms of MEGs are firstly clarified,three categories of them,i.e.,gradient structure,homogeneous structure,and heterogeneous structure depending on the structure of hygroscopic films,are then introduced.Furthermore,recent advances in the fabrication,characteristics,performance of MEGs are summarized,MEGs with continuous or transient output that could be applied in self-powered sensors and power sources are discussed.Finally,some remaining challenges and our perspectives on MEGs are highlighted.

Conduction filament formation,redox reaction,and mobile ion migration in solid electrolytes underpin the memristive devices,all of which are partially influenced or fully dominated by the moisture.The moisture-based physical-chemistry mechanism provides an electric tunable method to create enough dissociate conductance states for neuromorphic computing,but overconcentration moisture will corrode electrode and then causes device invalidation.This perspective goal is that surveys the moisture-dependency of dynamic at interfaces or/and switching function layer,clarifies the bottlenecks that the memristive device facing in terms of water molecule-related reaction,and gives the possible solutions.

This study comprehensively evaluated different parameters based on tensile strength testing to assess the cracking resistance of asphalt mixtures subjected to aging and moisture conditioning.For this purpose,two sources of aggregates were selected to produce hot and warm mix asphalt mixtures.Asphalt mixtures were subjected to short term and long term aging,three levels of moisture conditioning(freeze thaw cycles),and tested at two temperatures(15℃and 25℃).The load-displacement data was used to determine the fracture work density,fracture energy,toughness index,cracking resistance index,cracking tolerance index,and rate dependent cracking index.It was noticed that moisture conditioning increased the variability of the different parameters.The cracking tolerance index and rate dependent cracking index parameter had a much higher coefficient of variation(Co V)with a maximum value close to 50%.Indirect tensile strength,fracture energy,and fracture work density appropriately captured the effect of moisture on cracking resistance of mixtures.The cracking resistance index,cracking tolerance index,and rate dependent cracking index increased with an increase in the moisture conditioning level.The Statistical analysis showed that tensile strength,fracture work density,and fracture energy were significantly influenced by different aging and moisture conditions evaluated.Fracture energy showed better association with fatigue life of asphalt mixtures subjected to three freeze-thaw cycles compared to tensile strength.Further,the fatigue life prediction models showed that both indirect tensile strength and fracture energy significantly influence the fatigue life of asphalt mixtures subjected to aging and moisture conditioning.

The present work involves the investigation of the synergistic effects of gamma irradiation,tensile stress and absorbed moisture on the radiolysis behaviors of silicone foams by experiments and theoretical simulations.For both the pristine and dehydrated samples,the permanent tensile set increases with the initial tensile strain.Further analysis uncovers that the dehydrated samples exhibit greater permanent tensile sets,lower further elongation and higher Young’s modulus than the counterparts of the pristine samples with the same initial tensile strain and gamma dose,verifying the vital synergistic effects on crosslinking network and aggregation structures caused by moisture and gamma radiation.The synergistic effects unveiled by reactive molecular dynamics at the atomic scale are due to the moisture-induced neutralization and stabilization of the macromolecular radicals.The steric hindrance of moisture located at the interface of silica and polymer chains also conduces to the observed synergistic effects due to the inhibited crosslinking reactions.

The current reliability criterion(RC)of the film capacitor(FC)is usually a fixed value,which does not consider the staged capacitance loss caused by moisture diffusion under high temperature and/or high humidity.The expected lifetime of capacitors would deviate far from the actual one.The moisture diffusion process of the encapsulated FC is ana-lysed based on Fick's second law.In order to investigate the capacitance loss and moisture diffusion characteristics,4 types of film capacitors are stressed with AC voltage under different temperatures and humidities.Based on the staged analysis of the capacitance and weight gain curves,the effect of moisture diffusion on capacitance loss is revealed.Results indicate that the linear stage of capacitance loss corresponds to the Fickian moisture diffusion stage of weight gain.The effect of voltage on FC aging is the most significant.The capacitance loss rate increases by 301%when the voltage rises by 30%.An RC calculation method of the FC is further proposed,which could also screen the encap-sulation quality and shorten the aging test duration by at least 80%.

Spatial variability of soil moisture in a mining subsidence area of northwest China

The current study investigated the impact of coal mining on deep soil moisture from the perspective of the absolute value of soil moisture.A combined classical statistics and multi-dimensional geo-statistics approach was employed to analyze the temporal and spatial changes in soil moisture from 0 to 10 m in the mining face of the Nalin River No.2 Mine in Northwest China from the perspective of spatial variability.The results of the study show that compared with the control area,the average value of soil moisture in 1-and 2-year subsidence areas decreased by 1.18%and 0.96%,respectively,whereas the coefcient of variation increased by 17.92%and 3.63%,respectively.Interpolation of soil moisture spatial distribution results showed that the spatial variability of soil moisture in the control area was less than that in the subsidence areas,and the spatial variability of soil moisture in the 2-year subsidence area was less than that in the 1-year subsidence area,indicating that mining increases the spatial variability of soil moisture and that the degree of spatial variability of soil moisture decreases as the subsidence enters the stable period.These results provide evidence for the mechanism by which coal mining subsidence afects soil moisture.Preferential fow caused by surface cracks,soil texture,the soil pore microstructure,and other factors in the coal mining subsidence area are the primary drivers of the increase in spatial variability of soil moisture.

The yield of winter wheat is hindered by drought and low temperature in the Loess Plateau of China.Two common mulching methods to conserve soil moisture,ridge furrows with plastic film mulching (RP) and flat soil surfaces with plastic film mulching (FP) are helpful for wheat production.Our previous study indicated that FP could improve wheat yield more effectively than RP,but the reason remains unclear.The effect of mulching method on functional bacteria also needs to be further studied.In this study,winter wheat was employed to evaluate the impacts of mulching method on soil temperature,moisture content,microorganisms and grain yield.The results showed that FP had a warming effect when the soil temperature was low and a cooling effect when the temperature was too high.However,the ability to regulate soil temperature in the RP method was unstable and varied with year.The lowest negative accumulated soil temperature was found in the FP treatment,which was 20–89 and 43–99%lower than that of the RP and flat sowing with non-film mulching control (NP) treatments,respectively.Deep soil moisture was better transferred to topsoil for wheat growth in the FP and RP treatments than the NP treatment,which made the topsoil moisture in the two treatments (especially FP) more sufficient than that in the NP treatment during the early growing stage of wheat.However,due to the limited water resources in the study area,there was almost no difference between treatments in topsoil water storage during the later stage.The wheat yield in the FP treatment was significantly higher,by 12–16and 23–56%,respectively,than in the RP and NP treatments.Significant positive correlations were observed among the negative accumulated soil temperature,spike number and wheat yield.The Chao1 and Shannon indices in the RP treatment were 17 and 3.9%higher than those in the NP treatment,respectively.However,according to network relationship analysis,the interspecific relationships of bacteria were weakened in the RP treatment.Phosphorus solubilizing,ammon

An increasing number of palaeo-climatic records have been reported to identify the Holocene climate history in the arid Xinjiang region of northwest China. However, few studies have fully considered the internal linkages within the regional climate system, which may limit our understanding of the forcing mechanisms of Holocene climate change in this region. Here, we systematically consider three major issues of the moisture/precipitation, temperature and near-surface wind relevant to the Holocene climate history of Xinjiang. First, despite there still has debated for the Holocene moisture evolution in this region, more climatic reconstructions from lake sediments, loess, sand-dunes and peats support a long-term regional wetting trend. Second, temperature records from ice cores, peats and stalagmites demonstrate a long-term winter warming trend during the Holocene in middle-to high-latitudes of Asia. Third, recent studies of aeolian sedimentary sequences reveal that the near-surface winds in winter gradually weakened during the Holocene, whereas the winter mid-latitude Westerlies strengthened in the Tienshan Mountains. Based on this evidence, in the arid Xinjiang region we propose an early to middle Holocene relatively cold and dry interval, with strong near-surface winds;and a warmer, wetter interval with weaker near-surface winds in the middle to late Holocene during winter. Additionally,we develop a conceptual model to explain the pattern of Holocene climate changes in this region.From the early to the late Holocene, the increasing atmospheric COcontent and winter insolation,and the shrinking of high-latitude continental ice-sheets, resulted in increasing winter temperatures in middle to high latitudes in the Northern Hemisphere. Subsequently, the increased winter temperature strengthened the winter mid-latitude Westerlies and weakened the Siberian high-pressure system,which caused an increase in winter precipitation and a decrease in near-surface wind strength.
