Let P(z) be a polynomial of degree n having all its zeros in |z|≤k, k ≤1, then for every real or complex number β, with |β|≤ 1 and R ≥ 1, it was shown by A.Zireh et al. [7] that for |z|=1,min|z|=1|P(Rz)+β((R+k)/(1+k))~nP(z)|≥k^(-n)|R^n+β((R+k)/(1+k))~n|min|z|=k|P(z)|.In this paper, we shall present a refinement of the above inequality. Besides, we shall also generalize some well-known results.

Acoustic metamaterials are composite materials that exhibit effective material properties beyond those of their constituent materials.By engineering negative properties,such as modulus,mass density,refractive index,and thermal expansion coefficient from positive constituents,these materials offer a range of mechanical and acoustic properties,as well as transport and stimuli-responsive characteristics.Wave mitigation and vibration suppression are popular applications of acoustic metamaterials,with band gap formation and artificial damping being the primary strategies.Recent research has also leveraged the principles of topological insulators in electronics and photonics to realize phononic topological phases,leading to robust mechanical boundary modes that are resistant to defects and geometric perturbations.Additionally,the emergence of acoustic nonreciprocity has led to new wave-related strategies such as acoustic diodes,unidirectional invisibility,and autonomous robots.

The main purpose in developing the steganographic algorithms lies in achieving most of the steganographic objectives which comprise the embedding capacity, imperceptibility, security, robustness and complexity. In this paper, we propose a high quality steganographic algorithm using new block structure which makes a good use of both modulus function and pixel-value differencing, namely, MF-PVD. We have made many experiments with various test images from several galleries, such as USC-SIPI and UWATERLOO-LINK. The performance of our proposed algorithm is verified using three different performance metrics which include peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), structural similarity index measure (SSIM), and embedding capacity (EC). Experimental results and comparisons with six pertinent state-of-art algorithms are given to prove the validation and efficiency of the proposed algorithm.

The factors affecting storage modulus (Ec') and quantitative characterization of polymer composites filled with inorganic particles were discussed in this paper. On the basis of Eshelby’s method and Mori’s work, an equation describing the relationship between the Ec' and the filler volume fraction, particle geometry as well as interfacial morphology was proposed. The Ec' of the glass bead filled low-density-polyethylene (LDPE/GB) composites was estimated by means of this equation under experimental conditions with temperature range of –150-100?C, frequency of 1 Hz and the amplitude of 0.6 mm, and compared with other equations proposed in literature. The results showed that the predictions for this equation were close to the measured data from the LDPE/GB composites.

Introduction: To investigate a long-term in vivo deterioration of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) bone cement over time, we evaluated retrieved PMMA cement in terms of chemical elements presenting in the cement using energy dispersive analysis of X-rays;Knoop hardness;and the Young’s modulus using scanning acoustic microscopy. Materials and Methods: For mechanical evaluation, we could neglect the influences of entrapped air bubbles or blood by the use of small specimens. The study was based on thirteen cement samples (six used in the acetabulum and seven in the femur) derived from eight patients (age at revision surgery: mean 72.5, range 68 to 79). All of these samples were Simplex-P?cement. They were functioning well at least ten years after the previous surgery. Duration until revision surgery was ranged 12 to 25 years (average, 17.4 years). The reason for revision was aseptic mechanical loosening. Twenty samples of Simplex-Preg;cement were served by manually mixing as a control. Results: The average of the hardness of the cement was 17.0 ± 1.2 (range, 13.4-20.6). In the control, the hardness was 17.8 ± 1.5 (range, 14.0-24.6). There was no significant difference between these values. The mean of Young’s modulus of the cement was 5.61 ± 0.19 GPa (range, 5.09-6.10). In the control, the modulus was 6.04 ± 0.13 GPa (range, 5.68-6.45). Although the modulus was significantly less than that of the control, there was only 7% decrease in average between twelve and twenty-five years in vivo. Conclusions: Our results suggest that long-term implantation and functional loading in vivo may not be the limiting factor in the mechanical integrity of the bone cement.

Dynamic modulus of Elasticity of Some Mortars Prepared from Selected Jordanian Masonry Cements

In light of the highly demanding cement market in Jordan, comprehensive studies should be undertaken to investigate the properties of the different cement types. This paper studies the Dynamic modulus of elasticity (DME) at 2, 7 and 28 days in mortars using six cement Jordanian types with CaO contents less than that of the ordinary Portland cements. It was found that the DME has strong relation with compressive strength. At the age of 28 days the mortars had some different values of DME. One important result of our work is that DME at the age of 28 days can be derived from those of the two days mixes. To account for the differences in dynamic modulus of elasticity with time, it is highly recommended to study in detail the mortars petrography under the light microscope. Using the scanning electron microscope (SEM), usually with attachment for chemical analysis at the crystal scale, in addition to X-ray diffraction technique may help characterization of the cement phases qualitatively and quantitatively.
