Towards machine-learning-driven effective mashup recommendations from big data in mobile networks and the Internet-of-Things

A large number of Web APIs have been released as services in mobile communications,but the service provided by a single Web API is usually limited.To enrich the services in mobile communications,developers have combined Web APIs and developed a new service,which is known as a mashup.The emergence of mashups greatly increases the number of services in mobile communications,especially in mobile networks and the Internet-of-Things(IoT),and has encouraged companies and individuals to develop even more mashups,which has led to the dramatic increase in the number of mashups.Such a trend brings with it big data,such as the massive text data from the mashups themselves and continually-generated usage data.Thus,the question of how to determine the most suitable mashups from big data has become a challenging problem.In this paper,we propose a mashup recommendation framework from big data in mobile networks and the IoT.The proposed framework is driven by machine learning techniques,including neural embedding,clustering,and matrix factorization.We employ neural embedding to learn the distributed representation of mashups and propose to use cluster analysis to learn the relationship among the mashups.We also develop a novel Joint Matrix Factorization(JMF)model to complete the mashup recommendation task,where we design a new objective function and an optimization algorithm.We then crawl through a real-world large mashup dataset and perform experiments.The experimental results demonstrate that our framework achieves high accuracy in mashup recommendation and performs better than all compared baselines.

Enhance Vertical Handover Security During Execution Phase in mobile networks

The Vertical Handover(VHO)is one of the most vital features provided for the heterogeneous mobile networks.It allows mobile Users(MUs)to keep ongoing sessions without disruption while they continuously move between different Radio Access Technologies(RATs)such as Wireless Fidelity(Wi-Fi),Global System for mobile Communication(GSM),Universal mobile Telecommunications System(UMTS),Long Term Evolution(LTE)and Fifth Generation(5G).In order to fulfill this goal,the VHO must comply to three main phases:starting of collecting the required information and then passing it for decision phase to obtain the best available RAT for performing VHO by execution phase eventually.However,the execution phase still encounters some security issues which are exploited by hackers in launching malicious attacks such as ransomware,fragmentation,header manipulation,smurf,host initialization,reconnaissance,eavesdropping,Denial of Service(DoS),spoofing,Man in the Middle(MITM)and falsification.This paper thoroughly studies the recent security issues for hundreds VHO approaches found in the literature and comes up with a secure procedure to enhance VHO security during execution phase.A numerical analysis results of the proposed procedure are effectively evaluated in terms of security and signaling cost.Compared with the recent related work found in literature,the analysis demonstrates that the security is successfully improved by 20%whereas signaling cost is maintained as in non-proposed procedure.

Provably secure cloud storage for mobile networks with less computation and smaller overhead

Secure cloud storage(SCS) guarantees the data outsourced to the cloud to remain intact as it was before being outsourced. Previous schemes to ensure cloud storage reliability are either computationally heavy or admitting long overheads, thus are not suitable for mobile networks with strict computation/bandwidth restrictions. In this paper, we build an efficient SCS system for mobile networks based on homomorphic MAC and propose domain extension to enhance the security level and flexibility of the system. In addition, we give a formal security model which is compatible to previous ones and analyze our system in that model. We also give implementations on mobile devices to verify the effectiveness of our system.

Scheduling for Uncertain Data Broadcast in mobile networks

With the increasing popularity of wireless sensor network and GPS （ global positioning system）, uncertain data as a new type of data brings a new challenge for the traditional data processing methods. Data broadcast is an effective means for data dissemination in mobile networks. In this paper, the def＇mition of the mean uncertainty ratio of data is presented and a broadcasting scheme is proposed for uncertain data dissemination. Simulation results show that the scheme can reduce the uncertainty of the broadcasted uncertain data effectively at the cost of a minor increase in data access time, in the case of no transmission error and presence of transmission errors. As a result, lower uncertainty of data benefits the qualifies of the query results based on the data.

＜正＞This paper presents a method to enhance dynamic simulation performance in mobile networks. The aim is to accelerate the estimation of blocking and dropping probabilities by reducing the variances of the estimators. We adopt a Trajectory Splitting method that splits the path of the simulated stochastic process into multiple copies when the station loads cross predetermined thresholds, thus focusing on configurations for which communication problems are likely to occur. We show that this method significantly reduces the variance of the estimators of both blocking and dropping probabilities. In a real network dynamic simulation, we propose an algorithm to first check the convergence of the network towards its steady state distribution and discard the initial stabilization samples, and second apply Trajectory Splitting to accelerate simulations.

Providing Location-Aware Location Privacy Protection for mobile Location-Based Services

Location privacy has been a serious concern for mobile users who use location-based services provided by third-party providers via mobile networks. Recently, there have been tremendous efforts on developing new anonymity or obfuscation techniques to protect location privacy of mobile users. Though effective in certain scenarios, these existing techniques usually assume that a user has a constant privacy requirement along spatial and/or temporal dimensions, which may be not true in real-life scenarios. In this paper, we introduce a new location privacy problem： Location-aware Location Privacy Protection （L2P2） problem, where users can define dynamic and diverse privacy requirements for different locations. The goal of the L2P2 problem is to find the smallest cloaking area for each location request so that diverse privacy requirements over spatial and/or temporal dimensions are satisfied for each user. In this paper, we formalize two versions of the L2P2 problem, and propose several efficient heuristics to provide such location-aware location privacy protection for mobile users. Through extensive simulations over large synthetic and real-life datasets, we confirm the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed L2P2 algorithms.

Recently, network function virtualization(NFV) was proposed as a paradigm shift in the telecommunication industry. Both industry and academia have drawn significant attention in mobile network virtualization.NFV decouples the software implementation of network functions from the underlying hardware, leading to considerable reductions in operating expenses(OPEX) and capital expenses(CAPEX), and facilitating the network deployment. However, as an emerging technology, NFV brings both challenges and opportunities in developing new architectures, applying and deployment. In this paper, we first survey the related work of NFV, and then propose promising research directions in this area.

Real-time,decentralized and bio-inspired topology control for holonomic autonomous vehicles

Purpose–This paper aims to present an approach for a bio-inspired decentralization topology control mechanism,called force-based genetic algorithm(FGA),where a genetic algorithm(GA)is run by each holonomic autonomous vehicle(HAV)in a mobile ad hoc network(MANET)as software agent to achieve a uniform spread of HAVs and to provide a fully connected network over an unknown geographical terrain.An HAV runs its own FGA to decide its next movement direction and speed based on local neighborhood information,such as obstacles and the number of neighbors,without a centralized control unit or global knowledge.Design/methodology/approach-The objective function used in FGA is inspired by the equilibrium of the molecules in physics where each molecule tries to be in the balanced position to spend minimum energy to maintain its position.In this approach,a virtual force is assumed to be applied by the neighboring HAVs to a given HAV.At equilibrium,the aggregate virtual force applied to an HAV by its neighbors should sum up to zero.If the aggregate virtual force is not zero,it is used as a fitness value for the HAV.The value of this virtual force depends on the number of neighbors within the communication range of Rcom and the distance among them.Each chromosome in our GA-based framework is composed of speed and movement direction.The FGA is independently run by each HAV as a topology control mechanism and only utilizes information from neighbors and local terrain to make movement and speed decisions to converge towards a uniform distribution of HAVs.The authors developed an analytical model,simulation software and several testbeds to study the convergence properties of the FGA.Findings-The paper finds that coverage-centric,bio-inspired,mobile node deployment algorithm ensures effective sensing coverage for each mobile node after initial deployment.The FGA is also an energy-aware self-organization framework since it reduces energy consumption by eliminating unnecessary excessive movements.Fault-tolerance is another important fea
