Further study on the genesis of lamellar calcite veins in lacustrine black shale--A case study of Paleogene in Dongying Depression, China

Lamellar calcite veins are prevalent in carbonate-rich,lacustrine dark *** formation mechanisms of these veins have been extensively debated,focusing on factors such as timing,depth,material source,and driving *** paper examines dark lacustrine shale lamellar calcite veins in the Paleogene strata of Dongying Depression,using various analytical techniques:petrography,isotope geochemistry,cathodoluminescence,inclusion thermometry,and electron probe *** distinct types of calcite veins have been identified:granular calcite veins and sparry calcite *** two types differ significantly in color,grain structure,morphology,and *** further investigation,it was observed that vein generation occurred from the shallow burial period to the maturation of organic matter,with a transition from granular calcite veins to sparry calcite *** granular calcite veins exhibit characteristics associated with the shallow burial period,including plastically deformed laminae and veins,the development of strawberry pyrite,the absence of oil and gas,weak fractionation in oxygen isotopes,and their contact relationship with sparry calcite *** granular calcite veins were likely influenced by the reduction of sulfate *** the other hand,sparry calcite veins with fibrous grains are antitaxial and closely linked to the evolution and maturation of organic *** contain oil and gas inclusions and show a distribution range of homogenization temperature between 90℃ and 120℃ and strong fractionation in oxygen isotopes,indicating formation during the hydrocarbon expulsion *** carbon isotope analysis of the surrounding rocks and veins suggests that the material for vein formation originates from the shale itself,specifically authigenic micritic calcite modified by the action of *** opening of horizontal fractures and vein formation is likely driven by fluid overpressure resulting from undercompaction and hydrocarb

Isotope Geochemical Characteristics and material sources of Tin--Bearing Porphyries in South China

Tin-bearing porphyries in South China can be divided into the F-rich and F-poorsubtypes. They are high-silica (SiO_2>71%), peraluminous (A/NKC>1.0) and rich inincompatible elements (Rb, Zr, U, W, Sn) and have weak Ce (δCe=0.68-0.82) and strong Eu(δEu=0.01-0.38) negative anomalies. Meantime, they also have low δ_(Nd)(-6.3- -8.4), high^(207)Pb/^(204)Pb (15.588-15.790), medium to high (^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr)_i (0.7084-0.7287) and relatively highδ^(18)O(9.1-10.3‰). These characteristics clearly suggest that the two subtypes of tin-bearingporphyries were derived from the crustal materials. Their differences lie only in the existence ofcertain different components in their source materials. Therefore, there is only one type oftin-bearing prophyry in South China. that is continental crust transformation type.

Study on REEs as tracers for late permian coal measures in Bijie City,Guizhou Province,China

Analyses of Rare Earth Elements （REEs） in 13 coal samples collected from Late Permian coal measures of Bijie City in western Guizhou Province were conducted using Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass-Spectrometry （ICP-MS）. The results indicated that REEs patterns were not controlled by materials from the sea, whereas the contribution of land plants was about 1%. The major sources of REEs were from terrigenous material as indicated by negative Eu anomaly. There were similar distribution curves of REEs between Bijie＇s coal and Emeishan basalt. M12 coal seam, which had the highest ∑REE, appeared near the boundary between Longtan Formation and Changxing Formation, which was closely correlated to the eruption of Emeishan basalt. The Emeishan basalt contributed to REEs enrichment of M12. So the sources of REEs were controlled by terrigenous material, and the Emeishan basalt was the predominant source of terrigenous material, which dominated the enrichment and pattern of REEs in Late Permian coal measure from Bijie.

The geological significance of fossils in the coastal loess in the Bohai Straits and Liaodong Peninsula

Based on the analysis of the characteristics of the fossils (mollusks, Radiolaria, planktonic and benthic Foraminifera and Ostracoda) found in the four loess profiles located respectively at Heishigou and Beizhuang Villages on Daheishan Island in the Miaodao Islands in the Bohai Straits, and Daweijia and Yujiawaizi Villages in Jinzhou County, Liaodong Peninsula, the distribution and abundance variation of the fossils in vertical profiles are studied, the source of coastal loess is probed and the relationship between loess deposition and paleoclimatic environment as well as sea-level changes is discussed.

Progress in Chinese loess research made in recent 15 years was introduced in this paper, including mainly distribution and paleoenvironment significance of Chinese loess, new development of loess formation age, red-brown paleosol types and environmental change, loess-paleosol sequence and climate cycles, monsoon strength change during last interglacial and last glacial periods in the Loess Plateau, climate events, and source areas of loess and material.

The Nd-Sr isotope study of Mesozoic granitoids in Jiangxi Province

Nd-Sr isotopic compositions of 12 Mesozoic granitoids from Jiangxi Province have been reported. They show loe-εND（-13.8—- 8.3）, high-lsr（0.71069—0.73981） and old tDM（2087—1635 Ma）. Comparison between the Sm-Nd isotopic compositions of the granitoids and those of the basement metamorphic rocks suggests that these granitoids were mainly derived from the metasedimentary rocks. There is an east-west trend Mesozoic granitoid zone with lowtDMfrom S. Jiangxi to S. Fujian. The origin of these granites was preliminarily discussed.
