Quantitative genetic anal.sis of chl.rophyl. a fl.orescence parameters in maize in the fiel. environments

Chl.rophyl.fl.orescence transient from initial.to maximum fl.orescence （“P”step） throughout two intermedi-ate steps （“J”and“I”）（JIP-test） is considered a rel.abl. earl. quantitative indicator of stress in pl.nts. The JIP-test is particul.rl. useful.for crop pl.nts when appl.ed in variabl. fiel. environments. The aim of the present study was to conduct a quantitative trait l.ci （QTl. anal.sis for nine JIP-test parameters in maize during fl.wering in four fiel. environ-ments differing in weather conditions. QTl.anal.sis and identification of putative candidate genes might hel. to expl.in the genetic rel.tionship between photosynthesis and different fiel. scenarios in maize pl.nts. The JIP-test param-eters were anal.zed in the intermated B73 ？ Mo17 （IBM） maize popul.tion of 205 recombinant inbred l.nes. A set of 2,178 mol.cul.r markers across the whol. maize genome was used for QTl.anal.sis reveal.ng 10 significant QTl. for seven JIP-test parameters, of which five were co-l.cal.zed when combined＆amp;nbsp;over the four environments indicating pol.genic inheritance and pl.iotropy. Our resul.s demonstrate that QTl.anal.sis of chl.rophyl.fl.orescence parameters was capabl. of detecting one pl.iotropic l.cus on chromosome 7, coinciding with the gene gst23 that may be associated with efficient photosynthe-sis under different fiel. scenarios.
