Investigation of changes in properties of water under the action of a magnetic field

The properties of water and their changes under the action of a magnetic field were gathered by the spectrum techniques of infrared, Raman, visible, ultraviolet and X-ray lights, which may give an insight into molecular and atomic structures of water. It was found that some properties of water were changed, and a lot of new and strange phenomena were discovered after magnetization. Magnetized water really has magnetism, which has been verified by a peak shift of X-ray diffraction of magnetized water + Fe3O4 hybrid relative to that of pure water + Fe3O4 hybrid, that is a saturation and memory effect. The properties of infrared and ultraviolet absorptions, Raman scattering and X-ray diffraction of magnetized water were greatly changed relative to those of pure water; their strengths of peaks were all increased, the frequencies of some peaks did also shift, and some new peaks, for example, at 5198, 8050 and 9340 cm?1, occurred at 25°C after water was magnetized. In the meanwhile, the magnetized effects of water are related to the magnetized time, the intensity of an externally applied magnetic field, and the temperature of water, but they are not a linear relationship. The study also showed a lot of new and unusual properties of magnetized water, for example, the six peaks in 3000–3800 cm?1 in infrared absorption, the exponential increase of ultraviolet absorption of wave with the decreasing wavelength of light of 200–300 nm, the frequency-shifts of peaks, a strange irreversible effect in the increasing and decreasing processes, as well as a stronger peak of absorption occurring at 50°C, 70°C and 80°C, the existence of many models of motion from 85°C to 95°C in 8000–10000 cm?1, and so on. These results show that the molecular structure of water is very complicated, which needs further study. A theoretical analysis for MHD boundary layer flow on a moving surface with the power-law velocity is presented. An accurate expression of the skin friction coefficient is derived. The analytical approximate solution is obtained by means of Adomian decomposition methods. The reliability and efficiency of the approximate solutions are verified by numerical ones in the literature.

Influence of photon mass on vacuum birefringence experiment is analysed according to the nonlinearities of vacuum quantum electrodynamics for the light propagation through an intense electromagnetic field. It is shown that although the photon mass will cause a change of the refractive indices n┴ and nⅡ of vacuum birefringence, the difference nⅡ - n┴ is unchanged, which means that the effect of photon mass cannot be observed in vacuum birefringence experiment.

We have studied the evolutions of the population transfer, tunnelling current and antibunching effects between spin-（＋1） and spin-（-1） in the case of the strong laser pulses. It is found that the population transfer and tunnelling current exhibit periodical oscillation. For the same Rabi frequency, the larger the atom number, the longer the oscillation period is. For the spin-（-1） component, when the atomic numbers are N=4 and 10, the antibunching effect can appear. For different atomic numbers, the appearing regions are very different. For spin component ＋1, the antibunching effect can always appear for different atomic numbers.

Theoretical and interpretative study on the subject of photodetachment of H^- near a partially reflecting surface is presented, and the absorption effect of the surface is investigated on the total and differential cross sections using a theoretical imaging method. To understand the absorption effect, a reflection parameter K is introduced as a multiplicative factor to the outgoing detached-electron wave of H^- propagating towards the wall. The reflection parameter measures, how much electron wave would reflect from the surface; K = 0 corresponds to no reflection and K = 1 corresponds to the total reflection.

An expansion method for stationary states is applied to obtain the eigenfunctions and the eigenenergies of the quarter stadium billiard, and its nearest energy-level spacing distribution is obtained. The histogram is consistent with the standard Wigner distribution, which indicates that the stadium billiard system is chaotic. Particular attention is paid to pursuing the quantum manifestations of such classical chaos. The correspondences between the Fourier transformation of quantum spectra and classical orbits are investigated by using the closed-orbit theory. The analytical and numerical results are in agreement with the required resolution, which corroborates that the semiclassical method provides a physically meaningful image to understand such chaotic systems.

We investigate the ground-state properties of a two-dimensional two-electron quantum dot with a Gaussian confining potential under the influence of perpendicular homogeneous magnetic field. Calculations are carried out by using the method of numerical diagonalization of Hamiltonian matrix within the effective-mass approximation. A ground-state behaviour （singlet→triplet state transitions） as a function of the strength of a magnetic field has been found. It is found that the dot radius R of the Gaussian potential is important for the ground-state transition and the feature of ground-state for the Gaussian potential quantum dot （QD）, and the parabolic potential QDs are similar when R is larger. The larger the quantum dot radius, the smaller the magnetic field for the singlet-triplet transition of the ground-state of two interacting electrons in the Gaussian quantum dot.
