The role of madness has been an unexcavated part in studies of Foucault on transgression,especially with literary studies.This paper considers madness as the presence of transgression,and gives an account of madness from two different perspectives:tragic experience and critical consciousness.madness as a tragic experience provides Foucault a way of transgressing death which is a limit that cannot be transcended;madness as a critical consciousness helps Foucault conceptualize the relation between reason and madness.The image of madmen in literary works can be recognized as the most typical embodiment of the connection between madness and transgression.Rather than aiming at a detailed explanation of Foucault’s understanding of madness,it attaches vital importance that how madness as a tragic experience and a critical consciousness becomes the presence of transgression.

When normal, Lear can not even distinguish flattery and pat answers from sincerity and true love. While considered as insane, he learns to take care of the wretched and is able to discover the truth in life. The key concept of anti-logo-centrism in deconstructive criticism provokes us to reconsider the boundary between madness and reason, and traditional Western philosophical ideas, thus enabling us to appreciate the despised madness in King Lear from the perspective of philosophy.

Lu Xun, nearing his death, wrote two essays commemorating Zhang Taiyan. Both are rather unconventional eulogies, which engage the style, themes, and conventions of traditional biographies. Keenly aware of the depictions of his teacher as a conservative Confucian scholar and a political reactionary, Lu Xun provides a counter image. By associating his teacher with prominent revolutionaries and framing his idiosyncratic behaviors and political choices in later life as the product of failed ambition, Lu Xun harks back to the figure of the ＂mad genius＂ lauded as exemplars in the classical literary tradition, an image that resonates as well with the gallery of ＂modem＂ misanthropes and madmen in his short stories. Cast within a lineage of awakened eccentrics often deemed insane in their own times, Zhang emerges in Lu Xun＇s essays as a revolutionary par excellence： an outspoken rebel who, after the founding of the Republic, remained a fearless critic of the establishment; an uncompromising radical at heart, who remained committed to the ideals of a true social transformation long since forgotten by those around him. In making the ＂worthiness＂ and relevance of Zhang Taiyan as a historical figure legible to modem readers through his engagement with traditional biographical conventions, Lu Xun also affirms the value of a traditional literati culture which continued to structure his worldview as a modem intellectual and writer. For his portrait of the ＂master of classical studies＂ as a radical revolutionary, however partial, was an attempt to ensure that Zhang＇s name would remain relevant to posterity, leaving open the possibility that his teacher＇s ＂precious records＂ might also be transmitted and still find knowing readers in later ages.

Ben Jonson called Shakespeare"Soul of the Age!"and"He was not of an age,but for all time!"The purpose of this paper is to analyze mad images in Shakespeare’ s four tragedies, thus to explore the eternal charisma of the four tragedies,i.e.Shakespeare’ s need for his vague but strong,and indirect but open exposure of the English society.Then we come to the conclusion that Shakespeare,by presenting a galaxy of mad images,provides us with a panorama of the reality,thus we can find the eternal charisma of Shakespeare’ s four tragedies.They are"for all time".

By analyzing the different levels of desire the characters have in Moby Dick, and according to the desire theory of Lacan, the statement of this thesis is exposed—characters in Moby Dick have different levels of desire, being satisfied or unsatisfied, they are driven into madness by the desires they have, and become inhumanity.

While a number of statistics are collected during an NCAA Division I men’s college basketball game, it is potentially of interest to universities, coaches, players, and fans to which these statistics are most significant in determining wins and losses. To this end, statistics were collected from two seasons of games and analyzed using logistic and least squares regression methods. The differences between the two competing teams in four common statistics were found to be significant to determining victory: assists, free throw attempts, defensive rebounds, and turnovers. The models were then used with data from the 2011-2012 Season to verify the accuracy of the models. The point spread model was also used with 2013 March madness game statistics.

In this paper,the author is questioning the very concept of“indifference of thinking”.The author also asks:In what sense,thinking leads to“overall indifference”?What,indeed,is indifference?Reading carefully,the philosophical texts on affects,mainly Spinoza,Freud,Bergson,and Deleuze,author argues that indifference is not a kind of non-affection,beside-affection,post-affection,but rather,it is a trace of affect―just as cinders are remnants of fire.Indifference is neither abnegation which is a kind of statement that we could not care less.On the contrary,it is in indifference where we find profound commitment to bringing back things of this world to their natural position.

As a natural phenomenon,people with disabilities were not stigmatized from the very beginning.In antiquity,some parts of their body being^different from those of normal persons,^they were considered to have a special ability to communicate with heaven,earth,and the Gods.As a result,people with disabilities were able to hold the position of^“wizard,”which had a high status and important influence.However,with the division of labor in the human society,people with disabilities gradually lost the prerogative in labor production due to the limitation of their ability to work,which affected their social status and led to the social discrimination and“stigmatization”toward them gradually.Before this transformation happened,people's envision on people with disabilities,including a variety of images,was indicative of the social consciousness at that time.
