Nanocellulose,a natural polymeric nanomaterial,has attracted significant attention in enhanced oil recovery(EOR)applications due to its abundance,nanoscale,high oil-water interfacial adsorption *** this study,surface-functionalized cellulose nanocrystals(SF-CNCs)were prepared via hy-drochloric acid hydrolysis and chemical modification,with adaptable nanosize and considerable dispersion stability in low-permeability *** SF-CNCs were structurally characterized by FT-IR,Cryo-TEM,which have a diameter of 5-10 nm and a length of 100-200 *** SF-CNC dispersions possessed higher stability and stronger salt-tolerance than those of corresponding CNC dispersions,due to the strong hydrophilicity of the sulfonic acid *** was synergistically used with a non-ionic surfactant(APG1214)to formulate a combined flooding system(0.1 wt%SF-CNC+0.2 wt%APG1214).The combined flooding system exhibits strong emulsification stability,low oil-water interfacial tension of o.03 mN/m,and the ability to alter the wettability for oil-wetting ***,the combined system was_able to provide an optimum EOR efficiency of 20.2%in low-permeability cores with 30.13×10^(-3)μm^(2).*** can enlarge the sweep volume and increase the displacement efficiency ***,the newly formulated nanocellulose/surfactant combined system exhibits a remarkable EoR performance in low-permeability reservoirs.

Characteristics and mechanism of smart fluid for sweep-controlling during CO_(2) flooding

A smart response fluid was designed and developed to overcome the challenges of gas channeling during CO_(2)flooding in low-permeability,tight oil *** fluid is based on Gemini surfactant with self-assembly capabilities,and the tertiary amine group serves as the response *** responsive characteristics and corresponding mechanism of the smart fluid during the interaction with CO_(2)/oil were studied,followed by the shear characteristics of the thickened aggregates obtained by the smart fluid responding to CO_(2).The temperature and salt resistance of the smart fluid and the aggregates were evaluated,and their feasibility and effectiveness in sweep-controlling during the CO_(2)flooding were *** research reveals:(1)Thickened aggregates could be assembled since the smart fluid interacted with CO_(2).When the mass fraction of the smart fluid ranged from 0.05%to 2.50%,the thickening ratio changed from 9 to 246,with viscosity reaching 13 to 3100 *** a result,the sweep efficiency in low-permeability core models could be increased in our experiments.(2)When the smart fluid(0.5%to 1.0%)was exposed to simulated oil,the oil/fluid interfacial tension decreased to the level of 1×10^(-2)mN/***,the vesicle-like micelles in the smart fluid completely transformed into spherical micelles when the fluid was exposed to simulated oil with the saturation greater than 10%.As a result,the smart fluid could maintain low oil/fluid interfacial tension,and would not be thickened after oil exposure.(3)When the smart fluid interacted with CO_(2),the aggregates showed self-healing properties in terms of shear-thinning,static-thickening,and structural integrity after several shear-static ***,this fluid is safe to be placed in deep reservoirs.(4)The long-term temperature and salt resistance of the smart fluid and thickened aggregates have been confirmed.

A new numerical model for low-permeability reservoirs is *** model incorporates the nonlinear characteristics of oil-water two-phase flows while taking into account the initiation pressure *** numerical solutions are obtained using a finite difference *** correctness of the method is demonstrated using a two-dimensional inhomogeneous low permeability ***,the differences in the cumulative oil and water production are investigated for different starting water *** is shown that when the initial water saturation grows,the water content of the block continues to rise and the cumulative oil production gradually decreases.

Multi-objective optimization and experiment of nylon cord rubber in expandable packer

Nylon cord rubber has the advantages of small residual deformation and is easy to lift and lower the tubing string in low-permeability oil and gas ***,it is associated with low-pressure resistance and poor sealing *** enhance the performance of nylon cord rubber,a three-dimensional numerical model of the nylon cord rubber was established and its accuracy experimentally *** Plackett-Burman test,the Steepest climbing test and the Response surface method were used to acquire the polynomial response surface model connecting structural parameters with bearing and sealing *** genetic algorithms,optimal structural parameters of nylon cord rubber were determined depending on field *** reliability of the optimized results was verified by laboratory *** was shown that after optimization,the bearing capacity of the expandable packer increased by 25%while the sealing performance increased by 66%.In addition,the bearing pressure was 70 MPa while the sealing pressure was 50 *** measurements effectively met the on-site requirements of high-pressure and fine fracturing in low-permeability oil and gas reservoirs.

In petroleum development,low-permeability reservoir means having permeability of porous media lower than 50 *** mathematical model of liquid flow in low-permeability reservoirs has been difficult to describe for a long time,and an ideal model has not been available until now because of the threshold pressure *** the boundary adhesion layer model of a micro-channel as basis,a new liquid flow model was derived for low-permeability reservoirs in this *** no-movement liquid layer close to the solid surface was defined as the boundary adhesion layer regarded as the negative slip *** the exponential function of the boundary stick layer to the pressure drop gradient,the formulae of the liquid velocity and flow rate of a round channel were *** liquid flows model in low permeability reservoirs was then ***,the flow model was tested by examples,and applications to a low-permeability reservoir were *** analysis results show that the new non-linear model of liquid flows exhibits clear physical definition,and can be easily used to describe liquid flows in low-permeability media.
