A New High Efficiency Multiwave Cerenkov Generator Operating at low magnetic field

With a resonant cavity inserted between the second slow-wave-structure section and the tapered waveguide, a new structure of the multiwave Cerenkov generator (MWCG) operating at low guiding magnetic field is proposed to produce high efficiency and high power microwave. Some features and potential advantages of the proposed device are analysed. The 2.5-dimensional particle-in-cell simulation is employed to verify the initial expectation. The results show that, with the use of an electron beam of 640keV and 8.4kA guided by the magnetic field of 0.6T, a stable and monochromatic X-band microwave output of 4GW in peak power is achieved, and the average efficiency is over 30%.

Experimental investigation of backward wave oscillator with low magnetic field

A backward wave oscillator （BWO） is introduced in the paper. On the accelerator of Sinus-700, it is experimentally investigated. Under the condition that the electron energy is 740 keV, the beam current is 7 kA and the guiding magnetic field is at 0.68 T, the performance of 1.15 GW microwave output power at 9.1 GHz microwave frequency with 22 ns pulse width and 22% conversion efficiency are reached.

The employment of spin polarization under an external magnetic field holds great potential for the improvements of photocatalytic performance.However,owing to the huge difference in dielectric properties between ferromagnetic oxide and polymers,the photogenerated excitons with spin states are often limited to the ferromagnetic oxide wells,which leads to unsatisfactory activity.In this paper,a single-atom Co-doped C_(3)N_(4)photocatalyst is successfully synthesized for photocatalytic water splitting and simultaneous oxidation of benzylamine.Under a tiny external magnetic field(24.5 mT),the hydrogen production rate could reach at 3979.0μmol·g^(-1)·h^(-1),which is about 340 times that of C_(3)N_(4).Experimental results and theoretical calculations indicate that the interaction of Co d and N p orbital changes the symmetry center of C_(3)N_(4),resulting in an increase in dielectric constant and spin polarization.Moreover,magnetic fields further promote parallel electron spin,and the increased number of charges with the parallel spin-down state is likely to dissociate under the action of an external magnetic field.On the other hand,the Co-N bond provides a huge built-in electric field and active site for strengthening the charge transfer and surface reaction.This work not only deepens the understanding of spin polarization,but also enriches methods to accelerate electron-hole separation.

Development of the relativistic backward wave oscillator with a permanent magnet

Firstly, an X-band relativistic backward wave oscillator with a low guiding magnetic field is simulated, whose output microwave power is 520 MW. Then, an experiment is carried out on an accelerator to investigate a relativistic backward wave oscillator with a permanent magnetic field whose strength is 0.46 T. When the energy of the electron is 630 keV and the current of the electron beam is 6.7 kA, a 15 ns width pulsed microwave with 510 MW output power at 8.0 GHz microwave frequency is achieved.

Preparation and Magnetostriction of Tb_(0.22)Dy_(0.48)Ho_(0.35)Fe_2 Alloys

Tb0.22Dy0.48Ho0.35Fe2 quaternary alloys are prepared by melting-top casting-annealing process. X-ray diffraction reveals that the alloy is single phase polycrystalline alloy with MgCu2 type cubic Laves phase structure, and (511) preferred orientation occurs in its. The magnetostriction measurements are carried out at room temperature using standard strain gauge technique in magnetic fields up to 400 kA·m-1. The results show that when the magnetic field, H, is 90 kA·m-1, the magnetostriction, λ, of Tb0.22Dy0.48Ho0.35Fe2 quaternary alloys is 260×10-6, and when the H is 210 kA·m-1, the λ is 438×10-6. When the H is 400 kA·m-1, the λ is up to the saturation value, 538×10-6. As compared with TbDyFe ternary alloys, the λ of the quaternary alloy is significantly higher when the H is less than or equal to 210 kA·m-1. When the H is 120 kA·m-1, the λ of the alloy is 333×10-6, 70×10-6 more than the ternary alloy. Research results and mechanism are discussed.
