Bariatric surgery is a valid treatment alternative for obese patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), but subjects who are overweight or obese represent a poor model to investigate the role of OSA treatment on cardiovascular variables, calling into question the attribution of cardiovascular and metabolic problems associated with OSA with excess weight. Seventeen patients with significant obesity who demonstrated OSA with a high apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) were treated with bariatric surgery alone after refusal of nasal continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment. At approximately 3 years post-surgery, subjects demonstrated a significant drop in blood pressure measured at rest, improvement in sleepiness and fatigue visual analogue scales, but continued to complain of daytime sleepiness. Polysomnography in these subjects demonstrated relative improvement in AHI, but patients continued to have a significant number of respiratory events and episodes of flow limitation.? Subsequent treatment with a dental device led to further improvement in nocturnal respiration, but did not reduce AHI to a normal range on repeat polysomnography. In this study we demonstrate that bariatric surgery alone and in conjunction with a dental device may significantly reduce AHI but does not eliminate daytime fatigue and sleepiness. Systematic long term follow-up examining the persistence of sleep related abnormalities should be performed particularly if daytime fatigue or sleepiness is still present in patients with OSA after treatment with bariatric surgery alone.

Algorithm for calculation of the chain length and rate of stratospheric ozone depletion in Ox, HOx, NOx, ClOx and BrOx cycles has been developed. The most important new element in the theory of stratospheric chain processes is the correct determination the propagation rate, taking into account all reactions involved rather than a single reaction, which has the lowest rate, as it was usually done before. The role of null chain processes in the cycles has been considered and shown that these processes play a decisive role in formation of families of the odd oxygen, nitrogen, chlorine and bromine in the daytime while at night they play no role. Using two-dimensional model Socrates, and algorithm developed correct rate of ozone depletion and chain length in the cycles above for model conditions of June 2020 at 50。N have been calculated.

始自20世纪90年代的“新世界文学”理论显现出本体论、认识论以及方法论上的根本改变：它不再是稳定的、本质主义的，而是关系的、网络的，是过程性的“发生”；其认识论的“单元观念”不再是民族和语言，不是二元的，而是多元的、更加关注作为现象学的翻译研究；由于人文学科研究中“语文学的破产”，以及世界文学文本的日趋庞杂，研究者提倡合作、使用跨学科的研究方法，特别是在大数据时代，数字人文的兴起在方法论上解决文本过剩的问题。虽然“新世界文学”理论面临陷入相对主义的危险，但却形成了新的比较文学研究共同体，凸显本学科的人文价值。

A probabilistic formalism, relying on Bayes’ theorem and linear Gaussian inversion, is adapted, so that a monochromatic problem can be investigated. The formalism enables an objective test in probabilistic terms of the quantities and model concepts involved in the problem at hand. With this formalism, an amplitude (linear parameter), a frequency (non-linear parameter) and a hyperparameter of the Gaussian amplitude prior are inferred jointly given simulated data sets with Gaussian noise contributions. For the amplitude, an analytical normal posterior follows which is conditional on the frequency and the hyperparameter. The remaining posterior estimates the frequency with an uncertainty of MHz, while the convolution of a standard approach would achieve an uncertainty of some GHz. This improvement in the estimation is investigated analytically and numerically, revealing for instance the positive effect of a high signal-to-noise ratio and/or a large number of data points. As a fixed choice of the hyperparameter imposes certain results on the amplitude and frequency, this parameter is estimated and, thus, tested for plausibility as well. From abstract point of view, the model posterior is investigated as well.

Net Nitrogen Mineralization in Natural Ecosystems across the Conterminous US

Nitrogen is the primary nutrient limiting ecosystem productivity over most of the US. Although soil nitrogen content is important, knowledge about its spatial extent at the continental scale is limited. The objective of this study was to estimate net nitrogen mineralization for the conterminous US (CONUS) using an empirical modeling approach by scaling up site level measurements. Net nitrogen mineralization and total soil nitrogen data across the CONUS were obtained from three different ecosystems: low elevation forests, high elevation forests, and grasslands. Equations to predict net nitrogen mineralization were developed through stepwise linear regression using total Kjeldahl nitrogen, air temperature, precipitation, and nitrogen deposition as predictor variables for four categories: low elevation high temperature forests (coefficient of determination, R2 = 0.83), low elevation low temperature forests (R2 = 0.74), high elevation forests (R2 = 0.80), and grasslands (R2 = 0.88). A map of net nitrogen mineralization was developed in GIS using these equations and national-scale databases for the CONUS. The result shows that net nitrogen mineralization varies widely across the US. Grasslands were predicted to have the lowest net nitrogen mineralization, while low elevation forests in the east had the highest. Mean values were 14.3 kg·ha-1·yr-1 for grasslands, 22.6 kg·ha-1·yr-1 for high elevation forests, 58 kg·ha-1·yr-1 for low elevation low temperature forests, and 82.9 kg·ha-1·yr-1 for low elevation high temperature forests. This continental scale estimation of net nitrogen mineralization provides a means of comparing net nitrogen mineralization across regions, and the databases developed from this study are useful for accounting for nitrogen limitations in large scale ecosystem modeling.

Background:Xu Yuanchong,one of the most eminent translators of Chinese poetry in English rhyme,adhered to the metrical translation which emphasizes transferring the rhyme of the original poem into the translation of target language.But it has limitations.Meth ods:This essay was conducted in qualitative research method.It identified and reflected on some negative impacts caused by improper met rical translation and summarized the factors which confine it from the aspect of phonology,semantics and syntax.It tried to figure out the limitations of the metrical translation through examples by analyzing the linguistic features of the language and imagery effect of the translat ed poetries.Result:Another translation methods was introduced-free/blank verse translation to solve the deficiencies lied in the metrical translation.

Astrometry method is useful in measuring the longitude and latitude variations of an astronomical station. But owing to the limitation of optical technique, progress in this field has not been significaut since a long time ago. The 500,000 measurements of the worldwide 136 optical instruments during 1962-1982 were reduced once again by the author recently in the BIH in order to redetermine the Earth Rotation Parameters for the twenty years.
