Farmers'Exit from land operation in Rural China:Does the Price of Agricultural Mechanization Services Matter?

This study uses data covering 3,914 farm households,collected from Henan province in China,to investigate the links between the price of agricultural mechanization services and farmers'exit from land operation.The results indicate that the increasing price of agricultural mechanization services leads tofarmers leaving land operation,especially when the high sunk costs and the long-term breakeven period of self-owned machinery are considered.This effect is intensified by the rapid rural-urban migration in China.Further analysis reveals that the surge in service prices reduced land renting-in and encouraged non-grain production.Our analysis suggests that the agricultural mechanization service market in China tends to work against the survival of smallholder farmers.However,the price of agricultural mechanization services is conducive to eliminating less-productive farmers and cultivating new agricultural operators.

Numerical simulation of warhead transportation

The new numerical approach for analysis of the warhead transportations is suggested.This approach allows to control the warhead operability before its experimental analysis.The approach is implemented by the adequate models for the software ANSYS.Analysis of the loads at land operations and transportations of the warhead by natural roads,water and aviation allows to obtain the maximal values of loads,which are used in numerical simulations of the warhead.These loads give an opportunity to analyze the operability and the fatigue strength of the cartridge warhead.The numerical simulations of the attachments of the warhead combat elements are performed on the basis of the suggested method.The data of the numerical simulations verifies the operability of the fastener system of the warhead combat elements.

Factors Limiting Centralized land Circulation in China from the Perspective of Farmers' Property Right

At present,there are many factors limiting large area centralized,rapid development,and moderately large-scale land operation in China.These factors include(i) the existing land utilization system is still at adaptation stage,and it lacks universal agreement of people on large-scale land operation;(ii) farmers' dependence on land is great;(iii) it is difficult to transfer surplus labor;(iv) there is no positive connection between promotion of moderately large-scale land operation and realization of increase of farmers' income;(v) it remains to be proved whether large-scale operation can become a stable rural occupation and whether big farming households can grow to professional farmers;(vi) large-scale land operation in rural areas may lead to waste of resources;(vii) the promotion of large-scale land operation may cause other social contradictions.
