irreducible anteromedial radial head dislocation(IARHD)caused by transposed biceps tendon is rare.Delayed diagnosis and surgical failure often occur.A 46-year-old fisherman presented with 10 days history of painful swelling and restricted movement of his right elbow due to strangulation injury by a fishing boat cable.On examination,the images of the right elbow reveals in a"semi-extended and pronated"elastic fixation position.Radiography and 3-dimensional reconstruction CT reveals an isolated anteromedial radial head dislocation with extreme protonation of the radius and the bicipital tuberosity towards the posterior aspect of the elbow joint,and MRI shows biceps tendon wrapping around the radial neck,similar to umbilical cord wrapping seen in newborns.The Henry approach was applied for the first time to reduce the biceps tendon.The patient achieved a good functional recovery at 26 months,which represents the first reported case of IARHD without fracture caused by biceps tendon in an adult.In treatment of IARHD,attention should be paid to the phenomenon of biceps tendon transposition.Careful clinical examination,comprehensive imaging modalities,and appropriate surgical approach are the keys to successful management.

Third order three-dimensional symmetric and traceless tensors play an important role in physics and tensor representation theory. A minimal integrity basis of a third order three-dimensional symmetric and traceless tensor has four invariants with degrees two, four, six, and ten, respectively. In this paper, we show that any minimal integrity basis of a third order three-dimensional symmetric and traceless tensor is also an irreducible function basis of that tensor, and there is no syzygy relation among the four invariants of that basis, i.e., these four invariants are algebraically independent.

Background:Reverse intertrochanteric fractures are usually initially treated with closed reduction.However,sometimes these fractures are not amenable to closed reduction and require open reduction.To date,few studies have been conducted on predictors of and reduction techniques for irreducible reverse intertrochanteric fractures.Therefore,this study aimed to summarize the displacement patterns of irreducible reverse intertrochanteric fractures and corresponding reduction techniques,and explore predictors of irreducibility.Methods:We reviewed 1174 cases of trochanteric fractures treated in our hospital from January 2006 to October 2018,113 of which were reverse intertrochanteric fractures.An irreducible fracture was determined according to intra-operative fluoroscopy imaging after closed manipulation.Fractures were assessed for displacement patterns,radiographic features of irreducibility,and reduction techniques.Logistic regression analysis was performed on potential predictors for irreducibility,including gender,age,body mass index,AO Foundation/Orthopaedic Trauma Association(AO/OTA)classification,and radiographic features.Results:Seventy-six irreducible fractures were identified,accounting for 67%of reverse intertrochanteric fractures.Six patterns of fracture displacement after closed manipulation were identified;the most common pattern was medial displacement and posterior sagging of the femoral shaft relative to the head-neck fragment.Multivariate logistic regression analysis identified three predictors of irreducibility:a medially displaced femoral shaft relative to the head-neck fragment on the anteroposterior(AP)view(odds ratio[OR],8.00;95%confidence interval[CI],3.04–21.04;P<0.001),a displaced lesser trochanter(OR,3.61;95%CI,1.35–9.61;P=0.010),and a displaced lateral femoral wall(OR,2.92;95%CI,1.02–8.34;P=0.046).Conclusions:A high proportion of reverse intertrochanteric fractures are not amenable to closed reduction.Six patterns of fracture displacement after closed manipulation were identified.Different

The two-dimensional (2D) Eshelby tensors are discussed. Based upon the complex variable method, an integrity basis of ten isotropic invariants of the 2D Eshelby tensors is obtained. Since an integrity basis is always a polynomial functional basis, these ten isotropic invariants are further proven to form an irreducible polynomial functional basis of the 2D Eshelby tensors.

A (bounded finear) operator T on a (separable, infinite, dimensional, complex) Hilbert space (?) is said to be irreducible if there is no nontrivial (orthogonal) projection P commuting with T. In Ref. [1], Halmos proved that the set of all irreducible operators is dense in (?)((?)), the algebra of all bounded operators on (?). Gilfeather proved that every normal operator without eigenvalue is similar to an irreducible operator.

We obtain the sharp upper and lower bounds for the spectral radius of a nonnegative weakly irreducible tensor.By using the technique of the representation associate matrix of a tensor and the associate directed graph of the matrix,the equality cases of the bounds are completely characterized by graph theory methods.Applying these bounds to a nonnegative irreducible matrix or a connected graph(digraph),we can improve the results of L.H.You,Y.J.Shu,and P.Z.Yuan[Linear Multilinear Algebra,2017,65(1):113-128],and obtain some new or known results.Applying these bounds to a uniform hypergraph,we obtain some new results and improve some known results of X.Y.Yuan,M.Zhang,and M.Lu[Linear Algebra Appl.,2015,484:540-549].Finally,we give a characterization of a strongly connected/c-uniform directed hypergraph,and obtain some new results by applying these bounds to a uniform directed hypergraph.

Let H olenote a complex separable Hilbert space and L(H) denote the collection of bounded linear operators on H. An operator T ∈ L(H) is said to be strongly irreducible if T does not commute with any nontrivial idempotent. Herrero and Jiang showed that the norm-closure of the class of all strongly irreducible operators is the class of all operators with connected spectrum. This result can be considered as an "approximate inverse" of the Riesz decomposition theorem. In the paper, we give a more precise characterization of approximate invariants of strongly irreducible operators. The main result is: For any T ∈ L(H) with connected spectrum and ε > 0, there exists a strongly irreducible operator A, such that A - T < ε, V (A (A)) =～ N, K0(A (A)) ～= Z, and A (A)/rad A (A) is commutative, where A (A) denotes the commutant of A and rad A (A) denotes the Jacobson radical of A (A). The research is inspired by the recent similarity classification technique of Cowen-Douglas operators of Jiang Chunlan.
