For producing higher density PM parts a new method,High-Velocity Compaction process with additional upper relaxation assist（URA） device is presented in the *** zinc stearate as a die wall lubricant,iron powder was pressed with and without upper relaxation assist device of mass 0.14 Kg focusing to investigate the density and mechanical *** explain a compaction process in loading stage a conservation of momentum principle has been introduced during collision of hammer,upper piston and upper relaxation assist device in die *** observe the morphological characteristics and mechanical properties,a scanning electron microscopy（SEM） and computer controlled universal testing machine were *** experimental results showed that the samples compacted with URA device had an improved green density and mechanical properties compared to the samples compacted in the absence of URA device.

A technique comprising coal-based direct reduction followed by magnetic separation was presented to recover iron and copper from copper slag flotation *** process parameters,such as reductant and additive ratios,reduction temperature,and reduction time,were experimentally determined and found to be as follows：a limestone ratio of 25%,a bitumite ratio of 30%,and reduction roasting at 1473 Kfor 90 *** these conditions,copper-bearing iron powders（CIP）with an iron content of 90.11% and copper content of 0.86%,indicating iron and copper recoveries of87.25% and 83.44%respectively,were effectively *** electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy of the CIP revealed that some tiny copper particles were embedded in metal iron and some copper formed alloy with iron,which was difficult to achieve the separation of these two ***,the copper went into magnetic products by magnetic *** copper into the steel can produce weathering ***,the CIP can be used as an inexpensive raw material for weathering steel.

Sintered （300℃） porous pellets of Fe2O3 were electrolyzed to Fe in molten CaCl2 （800-900℃） under argon at 1.8-3.2 V for 2-20 h. The laboratory scale experiments show that it was a potentially direct green method to produce Fe powder. At lower electrolysis voltage （〈2.2 V）, higher current efficiency （〉90%） and smaller energy consumption （-3.0 kWh/kg） can be obtained. When the electrolysis voltage was above 2.4 V, the deposition of metal Ca from the salt lowered the current efficiency and increased the energy consumption. The electrolysis voltage also had effects on the micrographs of the reduced powder. The cubic particles can be seen in the products at the voltage lower than 2.2 V; when the voltage was higher than 2.2 V, it was nodular. The reduction proceeds at the cathode in two steps, i.e., from Fe2O3 to FeO and then to Fe. The oxygen emits at the anode. The process is potentially free of carbon emission and produces two useful products at both cathode and anode, promising a zero-emission technology for the extractive metallurgical industry.

The paper reviews original data obtained by the present authors,revealed in recent separate publications,describing specific procedures for high quality grey irons,and reflecting the forecast needs of the worldwide iron foundry *** power,medium frequency coreless induction furnaces are commonly used in electric melting grey iron *** has resulted in low sulphur(iron,with a potential for higher superheating(>1,500°C),contributing to unfavourable conditions for graphite *** wall castings are increasingly produced by these electric melt shops with a risk of greater eutectic undercooling during *** paper focused on two groups of grey cast irons and their specific problems:carbides and graphite morphology control in lower carbon equivalent high strength irons(CE=3.4%-3.8%),and austenite dendrite promotion in eutectic and slightly hypereutectic irons(CE=4.1%-4.5%),in order to increase their strength *** are 3 stages and 3 steps involving graphite formation,iron chemistry and iron processing that appear to be *** concept in the present paper sustains a threestage model for nucleating flake graphite[(Mn,X)S type nuclei].There are three important groups of elements(deoxidizer,Mn/S,and inoculant)and three technological stages in electric melting of iron(superheat,pre-conditioning of base iron,final inoculation).Attention is drawn to a control factor(%Mn)x(%S)ensuring it equals to 0.03–0.06,accompanied by 0.005wt.%–0.010wt.%Al and/or Zr content in inoculated *** was found that iron powder addition promotes austenite dendrite formation in eutectic and slightly eutectic,acting as reinforcement for the eutectic ***,there is an accompanying possible negative influence on the characteristics of the(Mn,X)S type graphite nuclei(change the morphology of nuclei from polygonal compact to irregular polygonal,and therefore promote chill tendency in treat
