Dear editor,We would like to thank Drs Sun and Li for their interests and observations for our recently published article entitled“Muscular activity patterns in 1-legged vs.2-legged pedaling”.We have carefully read their letter and agree with their underlying premise that our low cadence is not indicative of competitive,recreational,or(in some cases)clinical 2-legged pedaling cadence.However,our results were not meant to be extrapolated to higher cadences,as clearly stated in the Limitations Section of the Discussion:“The results of this study do not necessarily extend to muscular control in one-legged pedaling tasks with different mechanical demands,as our participants were asked to perform pedaling tasks with relatively low crank torque and velocity.”1 Further,we stand by the initial statement of the Abstract that“One-legged pedaling is of interest to elite cyclists and clinicians.”In the Introduction we cite 2 studies2,3 that refer to 1-legged cycling:“As such,1-legged pedaling has been suggested as a training tool to improve pedaling performance and is used in clinical settings for rehabilitation.”1 Our opening Abstract statement(which would presumably be read before the Results and Discussion)was not meant to imply that our study results would be directly applicable to elite cyclists and all clinical populations/treatments,as Drs Sun and Li seem to infer.

Dear editor,We noticed recent research that has just been published in Journal of Sport and Health Science(JSHS),comparing the muscular activity patterns in 1-and 2-legged cycling by Park and Caldwell.1 The authors reported that changes in muscle activities with 1-legged pedaling are due to a variety of changes in mechanical aspects of the pedaling motion,including altered crank torque patterns within the crank cycle,decreased pelvis stability,and the need for increased knee and ankle stiffness during the upstroke.The experiment was welldesigned and the discussion was fascinating.However,the testing protocol does not support the significance of the project,as stated in the first sentence of the abstract,“One-legged pedaling is of interest to elite cyclists and clinicians.”Their testing was conducted at 30 revolutions per min(rpm)and 30 watts(W),and both are too low for any kind of mechanical demand for cycling,either competitive sports or rehabilitation.The preferred cadences of experienced cyclists are approximately 85-95 rpm,whereas the most economic cadences are approximately 55-60 rpm.

Beijing Hongdandan Education and Culture communication Center has been launching a movie interpreting program for the blind,aiming at making up for the missing information resulted from visual impairment.Inspired by this program and Dr.Yong Zhong at the University of New South Wales,the paper conceived an educational-inclusion interpreting model for the blind by researching blind people's learning styles and referring to Napier et al.'s model for sign language interpreting and cognitive constructivists theories.

Liaison interpreting is a type of interpreting performed in two language directions by the same interpreter.Compared with other forms of interpreting,liaison interpreting can be undertaken in various circumstances.And it has no demand for special equipment;therefore it can be taken at any time and at any place.On this account,on-campus interpreters or newly-graduated interpreters will have more chances to receive more tasks of liaison interpreting.During the interpreting process,they may encounter a lot of problems because of a lack of experience or a lack of proper skills.Through this paper,the author hopes to summarize possi-ble difficulties which will happen during liaison interpreting and provide possible coping tactics.The author hopes that this paper can provide some references to green-hand interpreters.

Since English is a language with regional variations,interpreters would inevitably confront diversified dialects in prac⁃tice,which brings challenges to listening comprehension,information transmission and interpreters’attitude.Northern Irish Eng⁃lish sounds particularly unique due to special accents,grammar,and slangs.While complex factors have contributed to the differ⁃ences,it’s highly beneficial if interpreters are aware of the dialectical features and the ways to deal with the difficulties,in order to improve their performance.
