Evaluation of preventive,supportive and awareness building measures among international students in China in response to COVID-19:a structural equation modeling approach

Background:Education institutions promptly implemented a set of steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among international Chinese students,such as restrictive physical exercise,mask wear,daily health reporting,*** of such behavioral change campaigns largely depends on awareness building,satisfaction and trust on the *** purpose of this current study is to assess the preventive,supportive and awareness-building steps taken during the COVID-19 pandemic for international students in China,that will be useful for planning such a behavioral change campaign in the potential pandemic situation in other parts of the ***:We conducted an online-based e-questionnaire survey among 467 international students in China through *** data collection duration was from February 20,2020 to March 10,2020 and we focused on their level of awareness,satisfaction,and trust in authorities regarding pandemic *** bivariate statistics was used to describe the background characteristics of the respondents along with adoption of the partial least squares-structural equation modeling(PLS-SEM)as the final model to demonstrate the relationship between the ***:In our study,the leading group of the respondents were within 31 to 35 years’age group(39.82%),male(61.88%),living single(58.24%)and doctoral level students(39.8%).The preventive and supportive measures taken by students and/or provided by the respective institution or authorities were positively related to students’satisfaction and had an acceptable strength(β=0.611,t=9.679,pstudents’satisfaction(β=0.295,t=2.719,p<0.001)and trust gain(β=0.131,t=1.986,p<0.05)in authorities had a positive and acceptable ***,our study clearly demonstrates the great impact of preventive and supportive measure

Randomized control study in the influence of different training methods of Tai Chi on Chinese medicine constitution of international students with depression or depression tendency

Objective： To evaluate the effect of different training methods of Tai Chi on Chinese medicine constitution of international students with depression or depression tendency. Methods： Thirty-eight Africa international students were randomly divided into the physical exercise group who receiving the simple physical exercise of simplified 24-form Tai Chi （physical exercise group） and the breathing group who receiving both deep breathing method plus simple physical exercise （breathing group）. The average scores of Chinese medicine gentleness and various biased constitutional types in the two groups were compared. Results： The average score of thirty-eight students with biased constitution in both groups decreased significantly compared with that before training （P 〈 0.05）. Compared with that before training, the average scores of biased constitutional types in the breathing group, including Qi deficiency, Yang deficiency, phlegm-dampness and Qi stagnation, were significantly decreased （P 〈 0.05）. The average scores of Yang deficiency, blood stasis and Qi stagnation constitutional types of students in simple physical group after training were also significantly decreased after training （P 〈 0.05）. Moreover, the average scores of biased constitutional types, including Qi deficiency, Yang deficiency, Yin deficiency, phlegm and dampness, Qi-stagnation, in the breathing group were significantly lower than those of the simple exercise group, suggesting the superior therapeutic effect of breathing training method （P 〈 0.01）. Conclusion： When combines with the deep breathing method, Tai Chi training achieves better effect on improving the biased constitutional types which may be related to depression or depression tendency, including Qi deficiency, Yang deficiency, Yin deficiency, phlegm and dampness, Qi-stagnation.

international students is a high-risk group facing psychological problem due to the stress they experience during the adjustment in a foreign country, and ethnic identity has been shown as a key point associated with international students’ psychological well-being and psychosocial adjustment. This study shares results of a qualitative interview study with four international undergraduate students studying in US. by using Phinney’s（1990, 1993） Model of Ethnic Identity Development to identify themes about how international student’s experience in host country influence their transition of ethnic identity development. In order to enhance international student ethnic identity development and help them address psychological problem, this study explores the factors that influence international students’ ethnic identity development. This study draws on study findings to generate discussion and recommendations for counselors and student affairs practitioners who provide support to international students with acculturative stress, and intend to create healthy, diverse campus environments to enhance student identity development.

Decision-Making Process of international Undergraduate students: An Exploratory Narrative Inquiry into Reflections of Chinese students in Canada

Purpose:This research is an exploratory narrative inquiry into reflections of three Chinese international undergraduate students in a Canadian university,University S,which reveals participants’entire decision-making processes as potential international undergraduate ***/Approach/Methods:A two-dimensional analytical framework has been *** dimension is based on three phases of the entire decision-making process:the phases of deciding whether or not to study abroad,selecting destination countries,and choosing target *** second dimension is based on three kinds of hypothetically proposed environmental factors within each phase:policy factors,(family and regional)socioeconomic factors,and information ***-hand data were collected through semi-structured interviews conducted based on the analytical ***:This article suggests that both policymakers in the source country(i.e.,China)and university administrators in the destination country(i.e.,Canada)should further support potential international undergraduate students during each phase of their decision-making processes,particularly through optimizing information supply ***/Value:This article has the potential to construct a new theoretical framework as a supplement for analyzing the entire decision-making process of potential international *** a pilot study,it provides a template for further investigations.

在高等教育国际化与知识经济社会背景下，国际学生兼具优质人力资源与经济资源携带者的双重身份，成为各国在国际高等教育市场中争夺的焦点。英国作为排名第二的国际学生接收大国，国际学生为其带来的经济效益相当可观。综合分析2016年英国国际学生的经济收益与接收成本，评估其经济效益。研究发现，接收国际学生特别是非欧盟国家的国际学生，为英国带来的经济效益已超出其在英国高等教育学生群体和社会人口比例的份额，并层层渗透到英国高等教育体系及经济社会的发展之中。
