Comparative study of the sectional slice of the anterior commissure and the internal capsule with its MRI images

Objective:The brain of 100 normal persons were performed MRI scan and image analysis.12adult female brain specimens fixed by formalin,were made into the thickness of 0.5mm by celloidin embedding technique.We analyzed the anatomical position of the relationship about the anterior limb of internal capsule and the anterior commissure in eollodion-embedded plans,and then compared with the brain MRI of normal people.We also further compared the statistical differences of the internal capsule’s volume.This research aimed to provide a reliable sectional anatomic basis for the study of the central nervous system and deep brain stimulation to treat the mental neurological diseases.Results:1.Continous observation of celloid in brain slices horizontal section:Approximately 130 slices of each specimen,from the parietal lobe,the internal capsule was the typical structure">internal capsule situated between the dorsal thalamus and the lentiform nucleus on the level of about 46 mm.Coronal section:about 150 slices of per specimen,from the former lateral ventricle horn back,on the level of about 16 mm the anterior commissure was"arch"connecting the anterior limb.About 28 mm dimension,the interior capsule fore limb located between the caudate nucleus and the putamen,the posterior limb of internal capsule located between the globus pallidus and the dorsal thalamus,extending down to the cerebral peduncle.Sagittal section:about 180 slices of per specimen,from the outside to the inside at the beginning of the temporal lobe,the corona radia taextends between the putamen and dorsal thalamus,and then formsthe posterior limb of the internal capsule at the level of about 21 mm.About 25 mm level,fore limb located between the caudate nucleus and the putamen;Genu of the internal caps

Echinococcosis is a zoonotic parasitic disease caused by Escherichia larvae.It frequently involves the liver(70%-75%),followed by the lungs(15%-20%),and occasionally the brain,heart,spleen,bone,and other organs.The main pathogenic forms of human echinococcosis currently include cystic echinococcosis(CE)and alveolar echinococcosis(AE).CE is globally distributed,while the distribution of AE is generally restricted to the northern hemisphere.In China,CE accounts for 75%of all echinococcosis cases.With rapid advances in surgical techniques in recent decades,the surgical strategy for CE has changed,especially with the continuous improvement of surgical methods and the expansion of surgical contraindications.To further understand the changes in surgical treatment strategies for hepatic CE,we interpreted and analyzed the existing literature addressing the surgical treatment of hepatic CE both domestically and abroad and briefly summarized them in chronological order.This review aims to provide a deeper understanding of the progress in the surgical treatment of hepatic CE to provide clearer avenues for its clinical diagnosis and treatment.

Protective effects of carnosine on white matter damage induced by chronic cerebral hypoperfusion

Carnosine is a dipeptide that scavenges free radicals, inhibits infammation in the central nervous system, and protects against ischemic and hypoxic brain damage through its anti-oxidative and anti-apoptotic actions. Therefore, we hypothesized that carnosine would also protect against white matter damage caused by subcortical ischemic injury. White matter damage was induced by right unilateral common carotid artery occlusion in mice. The animals were treated with 200, 500 or 750 mg/kg carnosine by intraperitoneal injection 30 minutes before injury and every other day after injury. Then, 37 days later, Klfiver-Barrera staining, toluidine blue staining and immunofluorescence stain- ing were performed. Carnosine （200, 500 mg/kg） substantially reduced damage to the white matter in the corpus callosum, internal capsule and optic tract, and it rescued expression of myelin basic protein, and alleviated the loss of oligodendrocytes. However, carnosine at the higher dose of 750 mg/kg did not have the same effects as the 200 and 500 mg/kg doses. These findings show that carnosine, at a particular dose range, protects against white matter damage caused by chronic cerebral ischemia in mice, likely by reducing oligodendroglial cell loss.

Magnetic resonance diffusion tensor imaging following major ozonated autohemotherapy for treatment of acute cerebral infarction

Major ozonated autohemotherapy has been shown to promote recovery of upper limb motor function in patients with acute cerebral infarction, but whether naajor ozonated autohelnotherapy affects remote in）ury remains poorly understood. Here, we assumed that major ozonated autohemotherapy contributes to recovery of clinical function, possibly by reducing remote injury after acute cerebral infarction. Sixty acute cerebral infarction patients aged 30-80 years were equally and randomly allocated to ozone treatment and control groups. Patients in the ozone treatment group received medical treatment and major ozonated autohemotherapy （47 mg/L, 100 mL ozone） for 10 ± 2 days. Patients in the control group received medical treatment only. National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score, modified Rankin scale score, and reduced degree of fractional anisotropy values of brain magnetic resonance diffusion tensor imaging were remarkably decreased, brain function improved, clinical efficiency significantly increased, and no obvious adverse reactions detected in the ozone treatment group compared with the control group. These findings suggest that major ozonated autohemotherapy promotes recovery of neurological function in acute cerebral infarction patients by reducing re,note injury, and additionally, exhibits high safety.
