intermediate annealing treatment produces different effects on the state of particles in Al-Mg-Si alloy sheets,thereby affecting their recrystallization textures and *** improve the formability of the sheets,the effects of different intermediate annealing temperatures on the texture evolution and mechanical properties of these sheets for automotive applications were studied using optical microscope(OM),scanning electron microscope(SEM) and tensile *** results reveal that intermediate annealing temperature has a significant influence on the recrystallization textures and average plastic strain ratio(r).After solution treatment,all the alloy sheets possess similar recrystallization texture components comprising of cubeND {100} and P {011} orientations,whereas a characteristic strong cube-oriented {100} texture is observed only in the alloy annealed at a temperature of 380℃.However,in comparison with the alloy not annealed,and the alloy annealed at 550℃,the alloy annealed at 380℃ possesses a lower average r ***,the relationship between textures and r value was analyzed by using the Taylor full constraints model in this study.

An intermediate ocean-atmosphere coupled model is developed to simulate and predict the tropical interannual variability. Originating from the basic physical framework of the Zebiak-Cane(ZC) model, this tropical intermediate couple model(TICM) extends to the entire global tropics, with a surface heat flux parameterization and a surface wind bias correction added to improve model performance and inter-basin connections. The model well reproduces the variabilities in the tropical Pacific and Indian basins. The simulated El Ni?o-Southern Oscillation(ENSO) shows a period of 3–4 years and an amplitude of about 2°C, similar to those observed. The variabilities in the Indian Ocean, including the Indian Ocean basin mode(IOBM) and the Indian Ocean Dipole(IOD), are also reasonably captured with a realistic relationship to the Pacific. However, the tropical Atlantic variability in the TICM has a westward bias and is overly influenced by the tropical Pacific. A 47-year hindcast experiment using the TICM for the period of 1970–2016 indicates that ENSO is the most predictable mode in the tropics. Skillful predictions of ENSO can be made one year ahead, similar to the skill of the latest version of the ZC model, while a "spring predictability barrier" still exists as in other models. In the tropical Indian Ocean, the predictability seems much higher in the west than in the east. The correlation skill of IOD prediction reaches 0.5 at a 5-month lead, which is comparable to that of the state-of-the-art coupled general circulation models. The prediction of IOD shows a significant "winter-spring predictability barrier", implying combined influences from the tropical Pacific and the local sea-air interaction in the eastern Indian Ocean. The TICM has little predictive skill in the equatorial Atlantic for lead times longer than 3 months, which is a common problem of current climate models badly in need of further investigation.

Anopheles stephensi is the main vector of urban malaria in South Asia. Three ecological variants （‘type’, ‘mysorensis’ and ‘intermediate’） of An. stephensi have been reported on the basis of ecology and egg morphology. However, it is unclear if there is any genetic isolation between the three variants. We analyzed the three variants of An. stephensi using eight microsatellite loci and found that large and significant genetic differentiation exists between them （mean FST = 0.393 and mean RST = 0.422）. Pairwise estimates of genetic differentiation between the variants were ‘type’ versus ‘mysorensis’ （mean FsT = 0.411 and mean RST = 0.308）, ‘type’ versus‘intermediate’ （mean FsT = 0.388 and mean RST = 0.518） and ‘intermediate’versus ＇mysorensis＇（mean FST = 0.387 and mean RST = 0.398） and all were statistically significant （P 〈 0.05）. The greater sensitivity of RST in differentiation indicated that mutations and not genetic drift had generated the differences between three variants of An. stephensi. The present study indicated large genetic differentiation and presence of non-significant low level ofgene flow between the three variants （‘type’,‘ mysorensis’ and ‘intermediate’） of An. stephensi.

The predictability of El Ni-o-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) has been an important area of study for years. Searching for the optimal precursor (OPR) of ENSO occurrence is an effective way to understand its predictability. The CNOP (conditional nonlinear optimal perturbation), one of the most effective ways to depict the predictability of ENSO, is adopted to study the optimal sea surface temperature (SST) precursors (SST-OPRs) of ENSO in the IOCAS ICM (intermediate coupled model developed at the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences). To seek the SST-OPRs of ENSO in the ICM, non-ENSO events simulated by the ICM are chosen as the basic state. Then, the gradient-definition-based method (GD method) is employed to solve the CNOP for different initial months of the basic years to obtain the SSTOPRs. The experimental results show that the obtained SST-OPRs present a positive anomaly signal in the western-central equatorial Pacific, and obvious differences exist in the patterns between the different seasonal SST-OPRs along the equatorial western-central Pacific, showing seasonal dependence to some extent. Furthermore, the non-El Ni-o events can eventually evolve into El Ni-o events when the SST-OPRs are superimposed on the corresponding seasons;the peaks of the Ni-o3.4 index occur at the ends of the years, which is consistent with the evolution of the real El Ni-o. These results show that the GD method is an effective way to obtain SST-OPRs for ENSO events in the ICM. Moreover, the OPRs for ENSO depicted using the GD method provide useful information for finding the early signal of ENSO in the ICM.

In order to describe charge exchange reactions at intermediate energies,we implemented as a first step the formulation of the normal eikonal *** calculated differential cross-sections based on this approach deviated significantly from the conventional DWBA calculations for CE reactions at 140 MeV/***,improvements were made in the application of the eikonal approximation so as to keep a strict three-dimensional form *** results obtained with the improved eikonal approach are in good agreement with the DWBA calculations and with the experimental *** the improved eikonal approach can be formulated in a microscopic way,it is easy to apply to CE reactions at higher energies,where the phenomenological DWBA is a priori difficult to use due to the lack,in most cases,of the required phenomenological potentials.

Warming in Arctic intermediate and deep waters around Chukchi Plateau and its adjacent regions in 1999

Based on the data measured during Arctic scientific expedition of China in 1999, the characteristics of temperature and salinity distributions around the Chukchi Plateau and its ad-jacent regions have been studied. It was found that the intermediate water with temperature higher than 0.5℃ existed in all parts of a 640 km section with a maximum temperature of 0.85℃ indicating a strong signal of the warming in Arctic intermediate Water in 1999. Two important phenomena are described in this paper. First, the temperature of warm water was horizontally nonuniform. In the area of Chukchi Plateau, the temperature was higher, the layer of warm water was thicker and the depth of the warm water core was shallower than those in the area of con-tinental slope. The horizontal nonuniformity of the temperature distribution of warming water im-plies that the upward heat flux should also be nonuniform, thus exerting different effects on sea ice thickness, ice extent, and air-sea heat exchange. The mechanism to generate higher tem-perature in the plateau region was the bypassing of current around the plateau area caused by the special local topography, which restricted water exchange across the plateau and conserved heat in the water body. Second, the deep water down to 1400 m was also warming with a tem-perature increase of 0.2℃. The warming in deep water reflects the occurrence of complicated heat redistribution processes in the intermediate water, which altered the thermal structure in the upper 1400 m. The warming data embody the obvious impact of global climate change on the Arctic Ocean and further studies are wanted.
