A brief review on ?-zirconium phosphate intercalation compounds and nano-composites

The layer structured zirconium phosphate （ZrP） can be intercalated with atoms, molecules, small organic groups and even polymers. The structures and properties of the ZrP intercalation compounds can be deliberately tuned, leading to promising potential applications in many fields. This article provides a brief review on the experimental results of the ZrP intercalation compounds, with the focus on the polymer/α-zirconium phosphate （α-ZrP） nano-composites. The computer simulations of the ZrP intercalation compounds at the atomic level play a significant role in designing and understanding the properties of ZrP, and in the promotion of the applications of compounds.

Main observation and conclusion We report the design,synthesis,structure,and properties of two complex layered phosphide nitrides,AkTh_(2)Mn_(4)P_(4)N_(2)(Ak=Rb,Cs),which contain anti-fluorite-type[Mn_(2)P_(2)]bilayers separated by fluorite-type[Th_(2)N_(2)]layers as a result of the intergrowth between AkMn2P2 and *** new compounds are featured with an intrinsic hole doping associated with the interlayer charge transfer and a built-in chemical pressure from the[Th_(2)N_(2)]layers,both of which are reflected by the changes in the lattice and the atomic position of *** measurements of magnetic susceptibility,electrical resistivity,and specific heat indicate existence of local moments as well as itinerant electrons in relation with d-p *** expected dominant antiferromagnetic interactions with enhanced d-p hybridizations were demonstrated by the first-principles calculations only when additional Coulomb repulsions are *** density of states at the Fermi level derived from the specific-heat analysis are 3.5 and 7.5 times of the calculated ones for Ak=Rb and Cs,respectively,suggesting strong electron correlations in the title compounds.

Studies on Mechanochemical Method to Synthesize LDH Nanoparticles

Magnesium-ferrum layered double hydroxide （Mg-Fe-LDH） and zinic-aluminum layered double hydroxide （Zn-A1-LDH） compounds were prepared through a mechanochemical method. The influence of molar ratio of M2＋ to M3＋（R value） on the property ofLDH nanoparticles has been studied and the results showed that R=3 ： 1 is the optimum value for the both samples. Besides pure water, the mixture of water and ethanol with the volume ratio of 3 ; 1 is also used to wash the precipitates and used as suspending agent during the peptization process and our results showed that the addition of ethanol can improve the monodispersity of LDH nanoparticles greatly.
