Anti-windup design for the controllers of integrating processes with long delay

For several superior controllers of the first-order integrating processes with long delay, the windup problems are analyzed in detail when the control signal saturates. The results show that these controllers have similar characteristics about the process input limitation. And then, a simple and effective anti-windup scheme, without an additional parameter, is designed for these controllers. Simulations run with three main controllers, and the results illustrate that the proposed method may achieve good performance under the nominal and model uncertainty cases.

An analytical two-degree-of-freedom（TDOF） control scheme for integrating processes with time delay is proposed in this paper.Performances of both set-point tracking and input load disturbance rejection（ILDR） can be improved by the proposed method.Firstly,all controllers which make the closed loop system internally stable and have no steady-error have been employed.Secondly,the set-point tracking controller and the disturbance rejection controller are analytically derived in terms of the integral-squared-error（ISE） performance specifications.The nominal set-point response is decoupled from the load disturbance response in the adopted TDOF control scheme.In consequence,both of the set-point tracking performance and load disturbance rejection performance can be optimized simultaneously and separately.Finally,simulation results are given to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method.

＜正＞The model predictive control（MPC） strategy with input constraints may lead to infeasibility of the control algorithm in short term and degradation of the control performance.For the control of integrating processes,the system input constraints will be possible to come into conflict with the constraints caused by zeroing the integrating modes of the system at the end of the control horizon.In order to deal with this problem and increase the feasibility,the effect of setpoint on feasibility is studied for multivariable model predictive control of integrating processes in this paper.An improved algorithm is proposed by recalculating the setpoints according to the hard constraints before calculating the manipulated variable.The simulation results verify the efficiency and feasibility.

Robust tuning method for modified smith predictor

A robust tuning method for ο^Astroem＇s two-degree of Freedom Modified Smith Predictor （MSP） is proposed, and it can achieve the fast setpoint and load disturbance responses independently. The tuning rules may meet the requirements within a certain delay margin according to the robustness theory. The simulation results illustrate that the tuning method is efficient compared with other controllers. Finally, the MSP controller is applied to the 15L batch fermentation system for controlling the temperature in bioreactor, and the experiment results further verify that the robust tuning rules may achieve good performance.
