Southeast China is one of the severe soil degradation areas in China. This paper theoretically examines the impact of some important institutional arrangements and policies, like land management pattern, the rural off-farm employment, land property change and changes in prices of agricultural products, on soil degradation in this area. It further conducts some case studies to confirm the potential relationship between the institutions & policies and soil degradation, applying the surveyed and the second hand data. The paper at last makes some conclusions and proposes some suggestions on how to promote soil conservation by improving the ways of policy decision-making and the effects of policies on land use.

The goals of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) can be achieved by embracing the principles of distributive governance, which places both customary and statutory water institutions on the same pedestal in the governance of water resources. As culture and traditions constitute intangible aspects of water resources management in rural Africa, the recognition of water governance systems grounded in local norms, which correspond better with the aspirations of local water users as against the expert-knowledge systems is desirable. Following the introduction of the statutory institutions in postcolonial Africa, customary institutions, which were once effective in regulating water resources became relegated to the background in those countries, including Botswana . Adopting a critical literature review approach, this article employs the concept of legal pluralism to analyze the institutional factors that create the disharmony between cultural and statutory water governance and management institutions. Findings indicate that water has been abstracted from its social nature and transformed into a tradable economic good. Ultimately, the local meanings and images encoded in water as a nature-given resource are overlooked, thus generating conflicts in water governance. The paper recommends the adoptions of legal pluralism under which water institutions need to embrace both customary and statutory institutions.

The purpose of this study was to construct the model of organization system,managemcnt,training and surveillance in healthcare-associated infection prevention and control(IC)of primary health care institutions and identify its efleet on patient safety and decreasing economic burden by standardizing IC.A cross-sectional survey was conducted with *** were collected from 268 primary health care institutions in Hubei province,*** on the model of IC were analyzed by means of confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation *** results showed that the fit indices of the hypothesized model of IC satisfied recommended levels:root mean square error of approximation(RMSEA)=0.071;comparative fit index(CFI)=0.965;tucker lewis index(TLI)=0.956:weighted root mean square residual(WRMR)=*** model showed that organization system had a direct effect on management(β=0.311.Pinstitutions is valuable tor guiding IC practice.

Norms of the institution retiree subsidies are important measures to protect and improve people's livelihood, as well as maintain the stability of the retiree group. The income of institution retiree was studied by analyzing its policies and implementations, also some problems were pointed out such as lacking of subsidy standards,no convergence with the historical data,and the existence of special subsidies. Hence,in order to make a smooth transition and improve the pension insurance system of institution, implementing differentiating subsidies and establishing multi-pillar pension insurance system were proposed to solve the problems above.

The reforms of China's financial system have significantly changed the country's financial sector. One noteworthy phenomenon is that many nonfinancial firms have obtained equity stakes in financial institutions. This study investigates the motivations behind and economic consequences of this recent proliferation of investments in financial institutions by nonfinancial listed firms. We find that the motivations for holding equity stakes in financial institutions include alleviating the pressure of industry competition, reducing transaction costs, and diversification to reduce risk. These investments, however, have double-edged effects on the performance of the investing firms. While their investment income increases, their operating income and overall return on assets decrease, as the investment income cannot compensate for the decrease in other operating income. The investing firms' cost of debt also increases, their cash-holding decreases, and stock price performance does not improve after investing in financial institutions. These effects contrast with the enthusiasm nonfinancial listed firms have for investing in financial institutions. The empirical findings in this study can inform financial industry regulators and decision-makers in listed firms. We advise nonfinancial firms to be cautious when considering investing in financial institutions.

The study explored the effects of transformational leadership and beneficiary contact on pro-social attitude and performance in Lesotho's tertiary institutions. A mixed methods design was adopted to investigate the way in which beneficiary contact as the key relational element of job design influenced the Lecturers' responses to the implemented transformational leadership style. Questionnaires were administered to30institutional leaders,60lecturers and60students and interviews were held with10purposively selected leaders. The Multifactor Leadership questionnaire (MLQ) was used by leaders to assess their own behaviors at work in relation to transformational leadership behaviors and beneficiary contact, lecturers assessed their immediate leaders and students assessed their lecturers. The findings had confirmed the significant impact of transformational leadership and job design that provides beneficiary contact on Lecturers' perceived pro-social attitude. Transformational leadership and beneficiary contact reflected in Lecturers' perceived pro-social attitude when interacting with the students did calm the institutional instabilities that lasted for three years (2009-2011). However, both coordinated beneficiary contact by the transformational leader and the follower's perceived pro-social attitude had no significant effect on Lecturers'performance as transformational leadership style is associated with yielding high followers performance in organizations. The study also highlighted the factors that hinder the Lecturers-beneficiary contact which on the other hand, are affecting negatively the quality of education and performance in tertiary education institutions in Lesotho. Finally, the study recommended the policy makers and the boards of institutions may provide frequently programmes such as workshops, seminars and updates on school administration and leadership in order to sharpen the skills of institutional leaders on the job.
