To the Editor:Approximately 15 million preterm babies,i.e.,those delivered atinjuries,such as bronchopulmonary dysplasia and intraventricular hemorrhage.Therefore,a more physiological simulating in utero status is needed to protect EPIs’immature organs during the transitional period and ensure that they develop in the same manner that they would have in the womb.

Dear editor,Post-cardiac injury syndrome(PCIS) refers to a group of syndromes characterized by inflammation of the pericardium, pleura, and lung parenchyma after various heart injuries, including cardiac surgery or trauma, acute myocardial infarction(AMI), radiofrequency catheter ablation, coronary intervention, pacemaker implantation and pericardiocentesis.[1-5]Although advanced PCIS is well understood after cardiac surgery and AMI, known as post-pericardiotomy syndrome and post-myocardial infarction syndrome,[6,7]early-onset cases of PCIS after coronary intervention are rarely reported in China.

Background: Endoscopy remains the most performant medical exam exploring the upper digestive tract;but depending on patients, its tolerance is variable. Objective: This study aimed at describing the experience and evaluating the tolerance, acceptability and injuries observed during upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. Methods: This is a prospective and descriptive study carried out from April to July 2017 in the digestive endoscopy unit of the Kara teaching hospital (Togo). The gastroscopy was performed by the same operator (Hepatogastroenteroloogist). The premedication was done with direct intravenous injection of 10 mg of Metoclopramide hydrochloride and viscous Lidocaine oral gel. Previously, essential information about the examination course was given to patients after obtaining their verbal consent. Patients’ impressions of the experience, tolerance and acceptability were collected on a survey sheet, before and after the examination. Results: One hundred and eleven patients were included, 62 women and 49 men. The average age was 45.9 years (15 - 88 years), and the sex ratio (F/M) was 1.2. Most of the patients (89.2%) were experiencing the gastroscopy for the first time, and the main reason was epigastralgia in 55%. The examination duration was good at 88.3% and tolerance was good at 72.1%. Tingling, irritation, pain or sore throat feelings were noted in 13.5%. AIM:To evaluate the efficacy of computed tomography scan in diagnosing and grading the pattern of pancreatic injuries in children. METHODS:We conducted a retrospective study to review medical files of children admitted with blunt pancreatic injuries to the Maternity and Children Hospital Al-Madina Al-Munawwarah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The demographic details and mechanisms of injury were recorded. From the database of the Picture Archiving and Communication System of the radiology department, multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) images of the pancreatic injuries, severity, type of injuries and grading of pancreatic injuries were established. RESULTS:Seven patients were recruited in this study over a period of 5 years; 5 males and 2 females with a mean age of 7 years (age range 5-12 years). Fall from height was the most frequent mechanism of injury, reported in 5 (71%), followed by road traffic accident (1 patient, 14%) and cycle handlebar (1 patient, 14%) injuries. According to the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma grading system, 1 (14%) patient sustained Grade Ⅰ, 1 (14%) Grade Ⅱ, 3 (42%) GradeⅢ and 2 (28%) patients were found to have Grade Ⅴ pancreatic injuries. This indicated a higher incidence of severe pancreatic injuries; 5 (71.4%) patients were reported to have Grade Ⅲ and higher on the injury scale. Three (42%) patients had associated abdominal organ injuries. CONCLUSION: Pediatric pancreatic injuries due to blunt abdominal trauma are rare. The majority of the patients sustained extensive pancreatic injuries. MDCT findings are helpful and reliable in diagnosing and grad- ing the pancreatic injuries.

Nasal bone fracture is one of the most common face bone injuries and the third most frequent of all body fractures.[1]Clinical examination is considered to be the gold standard to confirm the diagnosis of a nasal fracture.However,diagnosis may be challenging in case of haematoma and oedema of adjacent tissues,this leading to the use of X-rays to confirm or infirm the hypothesis.[2]Radiographic explorations for midface traumas can also be indicated for forensic purposes.[3]

Except a few tissues such as the cornea and cartilage that are avascular,blood vessels constitute a significant proportion of tissue masses in virtually all organs.Under physiological conditions,the adult vasculature remains quiescent to retain tissue and organ homeostatic functions.Too few or too many blood vessels are associated with the onset and progression of many diseases.In response to injuries,most tissues undergo repair by switching on angiogenesis,a key process of new blood vessel formation.^([1])Similarly,angiogenesis is often active in pathological tissues,including tumors and ischemic tissues to aggravate disease progression.

Traumatic brain injury(TBI)remains a major cause of disability among young adults in both civilian and military settings contributing to a high burden on healthcare systems(Badhiwala et al.,2019).Sequel of TBI,even mild injuries,include motor and sensory dysfunction,neurocognitive decline,neuropsychiatric complications,as well as increased risk of neurodegenerative and neurovascular events such as Alzheimer’s disease and stroke(Breunig et al.,2013;Burke et al.,2013;Li et al.,2017).Despite the acute nature of the insult in TBI,pathological changes in the traumatized brain are better recognized as a chronic rather than an acute neurological disease,a phenomenon that remains under-investigated.

Traumatic spinal cord injuries(SCI) are characterized by damage in the integrity of the spinal cord,which results in either temporary or permanent alterations in the locomotor,sensory and/or autonomic functions(Yezierski,2009).The traumatic event leads to impairments in voluntary control of movement below the injury by affecting the connection between the brain and the neurons localized in the spinal cord.
