Eddy current (EC) distribution induced by EC sensors determines the interaction between the defectin the testing specimen and the EC, so quantitatively evaluating EC distribution is crucial to the design of ECsensors. In this study, two indices based on the information entropy are proposed to evaluate the EC energyallocated in different directions. The EC vectors induced by a rotational field EC sensor varying in the timedomain are evaluated by the proposed methods. Then, the evaluating results are analyzed by the principle ofEC testing. It can be concluded that the two indices can effectively quantitatively evaluate the EC distributionsvarying in the time domain and are used to optimize the parameters of the rotational EC sensors.

By using the new equation of state density derived from the generalized uncertainty relation, the number of the quantum states near event horizon is obtained, with which then the information entropy of static spherically symmetric black holes has been discussed. It is found that the divergent integral of quantum states near the event horizon can be naturally avoided if using the new equation of state density without introducing the ultraviolet cut-off. The information entropy of black holes can be obtained precisely by the residue theorem, which is shown to be proportional to the horizon area. The information entropy of black holes obtained agrees with the Bechenstein-Hawking entropy when the suitable cutoff factor is adopted.

Ordinal classification plays an important role in various decision making tasks.However, little attention is paid to this type of learning tasks compared with general classification learning.Shannon information entropy and the derived measure of mutual information play a fundamental role in a number of learning algorithms including feature evaluation, selection and decision tree construction.These measures are not applicable to ordinal classification for they cannot characterize the consistency of monotonicity in ordinal classification.In this paper, we generalize Shannon’s entropy to crisp ordinal classification and fuzzy ordinal classification, and show the information measures of ranking mutual information and fuzzy ranking mutual information.We discuss the properties of these measures and show that the proposed ranking mutual information and fuzzy ranking mutual information are the indexes of consistency of monotonicity in ordinal classification.In addition, the proposed indexes are used to evaluate the monotonicity degree between features and decision in the context of ordinal classification.

Pedestrian self-organizing movement plays a significant role in evacuation studies and architectural design.Lane formation,a typical self-organizing phenomenon,helps pedestrian system to become more orderly,the majority of following behavior model and overtaking behavior model are imprecise and unrealistic compared with pedestrian movement in the real world.In this study,a pedestrian dynamic model considering detailed modelling of the following behavior and overtaking behavior is constructed,and a method of measuring the lane formation and pedestrian system order based on information entropy is proposed.Simulation and analysis demonstrate that the following and avoidance behaviors are important factors of lane formation.A high tendency of following results in good lane formation.Both non-selective following behavior and aggressive overtaking behavior cause the system order to decrease.The most orderly following strategy for a pedestrian is to overtake the former pedestrian whose speed is lower than approximately 70%of his own.The influence of the obstacle layout on pedestrian lane and egress efficiency is also studied with this model.The presence of a small obstacle does not obstruct the walking of pedestrians;in contrast,it may help to improve the egress efficiency by guiding the pedestrian flow and mitigating the reduction of pedestrian system orderliness.

The subversive nature of information war lies not only in the information itself, but also in the circulation and application of information. It has always been a challenge to quantitatively analyze the function and effect of information flow through command, control, communications, computer, kill, intelligence,surveillance, reconnaissance (C4KISR) system. In this work, we propose a framework of force of information influence and the methods for calculating the force of information influence between C4KISR nodes of sensing, intelligence processing,decision making and fire attack. Specifically, the basic concept of force of information influence between nodes in C4KISR system is formally proposed and its mathematical definition is provided. Then, based on the information entropy theory, the model of force of information influence between C4KISR system nodes is constructed. Finally, the simulation experiments have been performed under an air defense and attack scenario. The experimental results show that, with the proposed force of information influence framework, we can effectively evaluate the contribution of information circulation through different C4KISR system nodes to the corresponding tasks. Our framework of force of information influence can also serve as an effective tool for the design and dynamic reconfiguration of C4KISR system architecture.

In the application of deep learning, the depth and width of the neural network structure have a great influence on the learning performance of the neural network.This paper focuses on structural optimization of depth and width, leveraging the information entropy model and decision tree strategy as feature selection and structural adjustment to optimize neural network candidates.Therefore, a decision tree-based heuristic optimization algorithm for neural network structural adjustment is proposed.Furthermore, the proposed approach is applied to fully-connected neural networks trained on the Iris dataset, and the proposed approach is verified effective via experimental simulation.

Saline aquifers are the most popular waste and CO_(2)injection and storage reservoirs worldwide.This project proposes that several optimal injection positions should be investigated as hydraulic pressure-focused positions,in order to relieve the high demands of pump performance.The comprehensive indices(F_(i))representing the injectivity of different burial depths were obtained by using information entropy,based on the mercury injection experimental data of 13 rock samples.The results demonstrated that the burial depths of No.4,No.1 and No.2 in the Liujiagou Formation were the most suitable positions for hydraulic focused injection,which means the upper 30 m thickness could be regarded as the hydraulic focused range in the saline aquifer with an average thickness of 400 m.In addition,some laboratory experiments and in situ tests were carried out for the purpose of certifying and analyzing results,including SEM,XRD,brittleness index and logging.The results suggested that the rock samples at the No.4,No.1 and No.2 burial depth ranges have loose microstructure,weak cementation,as well as dual pores and fractures.The lithology is mainly quartz and feldspar,but the clay mineral content is high(10%-25%),which is positive for dissolution.The lithology is suitable for hydraulic fracturing to form extended cracks and micro-fissures during high-TDS(total dissolved solids)mine water injection,because of the high brittleness index.Finally,a theoretical and technical framework for high-TDS mine water injection was established,based on operating pilot engineering.Some theoretical defects and drawbacks learned from the field practices were summarized and solutions proposed.The research in this study could provide guidance and a paradigm for the inexpensive treatment of high-TDS mine water by injection and storage.

HTDet:A Clustering Method Using information entropy for Hardware Trojan Detection

Hardware Trojans(HTs)have drawn increasing attention in both academia and industry because of their significant potential threat.In this paper,we propose HTDet,a novel HT detection method using information entropybased clustering.To maintain high concealment,HTs are usually inserted in the regions with low controllability and low observability,which will result in that Trojan logics have extremely low transitions during the simulation.This implies that the regions with the low transitions will provide much more abundant and more important information for HT detection.The HTDet applies information theory technology and a density-based clustering algorithm called Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise(DBSCAN)to detect all suspicious Trojan logics in the circuit under detection.The DBSCAN is an unsupervised learning algorithm,that can improve the applicability of HTDet.In addition,we develop a heuristic test pattern generation method using mutual information to increase the transitions of suspicious Trojan logics.Experiments on circuit benchmarks demonstrate the effectiveness of HTDet.

For a single-structure deep learning fault diagnosis model,its disadvantages are an insufficient feature extraction and weak fault classification capability.This paper proposes a multi-scale deep feature fusion intelligent fault diagnosis method based on information entropy.First,a normal autoencoder,denoising autoencoder,sparse autoencoder,and contractive autoencoder are used in parallel to construct a multi-scale deep neural network feature extraction structure.A deep feature fusion strategy based on information entropy is proposed to obtain low-dimensional features and ensure the robustness of the model and the quality of deep features.Finally,the advantage of the deep belief network probability model is used as the fault classifier to identify the faults.The effectiveness of the proposed method was verified by a gearbox test-bed.Experimental results show that,compared with traditional and existing intelligent fault diagnosis methods,the proposed method can obtain representative information and features from the raw data with higher classification accuracy.

This paper deals with the time evolution of information entropy for a stochastic system with double singularities driven by quasimonochromatic noise. The dimension of the Fokker Planck equation is reduced by the linear transfor- mation. The exact expression of the time dependence of information entropy is obtained based on the definition of Shannon＇s information entropy. The relationships between the properties of dissipative parameters, system singularity strength parameter, quasimonochromatic noise, and their effects on information entropy are discussed.
