As a competitive depth, L^2-depth is modified from L^2-depth. Its induced median is called L^2-median. Basic properties of the median and its sample version are provided. Especially, the strong consistency of sample median is gained under weaker condition. Robustness of the median and its sample version is discussed. Besides ease of computation, it is shown that L^2-median has both good large-sample and robust properties. Simulation studies are also given to compare the breakdown point of L^2-median with that of other depth-induced medians.

The calculation error of the gauge-meter model will affect the gap setting precision and the self-learn precision of rolling force. The precision of the gauge-meter model is strongly influenced by plate width, working roll radius, backup roll radius, working roll crown, backup roll crown, and rolling force. The influence rules are hard to get by measuring. Taking a conventional 4-h plate mill as the research subject, these influences were transferred into the calculation of roll deflection and flattening deformation. To calculate these deformations, the theory of the influence function method was adopted. By modifying the traditional gauge-meter model, a novel model of the effect of roll elastic deformation on the gap setting was built by data fitting. By this model, it was convenient to analyze the variation caused by the rolling condition. Combining the elastic deformation model of rolls with the kiss-rolls method, a gauge-meter model was put forward for plate thickness prediction. The prediction precision of thickness was greatly improved by the new gauge- meter model.

In this paper, the constrained M-estimation of the regression coefficients and scatter parameters in a general multivariate linear regression model is considered. Since the constrained M-estimation is not easy to compute, an up-dating recursion procedure is proposed to simplify the computation of the estimators when a new observation is obtained. We show that, under mild conditions, the recursion estimates are strongly consistent. In addition, the asymptotic normality of the recursive constrained M-estimators of regression coefficients is established. A Monte Carlo simulation study of the recursion estimates is also provided. Besides, robustness and asymptotic behavior of constrained M-estimators are briefly discussed.

Coal and ore underground mining generates subsidence and deformation of the land surface. Those defor- mations may cause damage to buildings and infrastructures. The environmental impact of subsidence will not be accepted in the future by the society in many countries. Especially acceptance of the ground deformations decreases every year there, where the mining regions are densely urbanized, the The only solution is to limit the subsidence or its impact on the infrastructure. The first is not rentable for the mining industry, the second depends on the precise subsidence prediction and good preventing management involved in the mining areas. The precision of the subsidence prediction depends strictly on the mathematical model of the deformation phenomenon and on the uncertainty of the input data. The subsidence prediction in the geological conditions of the raw materials used to be made on the basis of numerical modeling or the stochastic models. A modified solution of the stochastic model by Knothe will be presented in the paper. The author focuses on the precise description of the deposit shape and on the time dependent displacements of the rock mass. A two parameters＇ time function has been introduced in the algorithm.
