＜正＞Maize rough dwarf disease（MRDD）,transmitted by small brown planthoppers （SBPH）（Laodelphax striatellus）,is known as a"cancer"on *** recent years, due to many complexed factors,including changes in farming and cultivation system,the accumulation of virus sources and insects,decreased disease resistance of varieties,and climatic conditions and some other factors,the disease outbreak and is very prevalent in maize growing areas in the northwest *** in significant losses of corn yield. In order to explore the basic mechanism of occurrence and prevalence of MRDD and to provide the technology for disease prevention and control,a survey on incidence of SBPH and MRDD had been conducted during 2008～*** showed that SBPH occurred in the 6 generations per year in Chun’ an *** Province,and the sixth generation of nymphs overwintered on wheat,barley,Alopecurus plants,and other cereal *** the following late February to late March,they emerged as adults and oviposited for the first-generation of adults on the overwintering *** first generation of adults moved from the aging wheat and weed to the spring and summer maize,late single-season rice and summer weeds（barnyard grass and crabgrass,etc.） and reproduced the 2nd and 3rd generation,maize and rice plants in *** this period,the number of SBPH reached its peak *** continued to breed the 4-6th generations;in the mid and late October, the fifth generation of nymphs move onto wheat and weeds for *** acquired viruses on the disease plants by sucking *** at the stage of 2～3 age acquires viruses most *** of them acquired viruses in more than 24 *** minimum duration of the acquisition is 1 *** acquiring virus,SBPH could transmit it in a persistent manner but no transmission occured through the *** of them transmitted the virus in more than 48 hours.A minimum duration of transmission is 2 *** period in fe
