Management of hepatocellular carcinoma: The role of contrast-enhanced ultrasound

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the sixth most common neoplasm and the third cause of cancer death *** enhanced ultrasound(CEUS)has been applied for more than ten years and plays increasingly important roles in the management of *** the basis of the Guideline and Good Clinical Practice Recommendations for CEUS in the liver-update 2012and related literature about the management of HCC,we summarize the main roles and applications of CEUS in the management of HCC,including HCC surveillance,diagnosis,CEUS-guided treatment,treatment response evaluation and *** diagnostic algorithm for HCC is also ***,the comparisons between CEUS and contrast enhanced computed tomography/magnetic resonance imaging(CECT/CEMRI)in these areas are *** CEUS is subject to the same limitation as ordinary US and is inferior to CECT/CEMRI in some aspects,CEUS has proved to be of great value in the management of HCC with inher-ent advantages,such as sufficient high safety profile making it suitable for patients with renal failure or allergic to iodine,absence of radiation,easy reproducibility and high temporal *** tremendous application of CEUS to the diagnosis and treatment of HCC provides more opportunities for patients with HCC diagnosed at different stages.

Abstract Modification of 4-dimensional computed tomography(4D-CT)technique with volume rendering reconstruc-tions and significant dose reduction is a safe and ac-curate method of pre-operative localization for primary *** low dose 4D-CT with volume rendering reconstructions provides precise preoperative localization and is associated with a sig-nificant reduction in radiation exposure compared to classic preoperative localizing *** should be considered the preoperative localization study of choice for primary hyperparathyroidism.

A case of neuroendocrine tumor G1 with unique histopathological growth progress

A gastric neuroendocrine tumor(NET)is generated from deep within the tissue mucosal *** many cases,NETs are discovered as submucosal tumor(SMT)-like structures by forming a tumor *** case has a clear mucosal demarcation line and developed like a polyp.A dilated blood vessel was found on the *** mass lacked the yellow color characteristic of NETs,and a SMT-like form was ***,a nonspecific epithelial lesion was suspected and we performed endoscopy with magnifying narrowband imaging(M-NBI).However,this approach did not lead to the diagnosis,as we diagnosed the lesion as a NET by biopsy *** lesion was excised by endoscopic submucosal *** histopathological examination proved that the lesion was a polypoid lesion although it was also a NET because the tumorcells extended upward through the normal gland ducts *** our knowledge,there is no previous report of NET G1 with such unique histopathological growth progress and macroscopic appearance shown by detailed examination using endoscopy with M-NBI.
