Accelerated epicardial coronary artery atherosclerosis has been well-documented in cocaine users.There are only two reported cases of cocaine-associated diffuse intimal expansion by proliferated smooth muscle cells causing significant coronary luminal compromise.This type of lesion histologically resembled chronic trans-plant arteriopathy.Here,we report a third such case.

We report an unusual case of spontaneous ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome and pituitary hyperplasia mimicking macroadenoma in an adult,non-pregnant woman.Her condition was triggered by unrecognized primary hypothyroidism,which regressed after thyroid hormone replacement therapy.This case highlights the need for clinicians and radiologists to familiarize themselves with the clinical and imaging features detected in case of these complications of primary hypothyroidism,which are not well known in the medical and radiological profession.Such improved knowledge will help avoid delays in diagnosis,progression to lifethreatening complications,and unnecessary surgery.

Focal nodular hyperplasia(FNH) is the second most common benign lesion of the liver.It is a solitary lesion and usually does not enlarge.We present the magnetic resonance imaging findings of multiple progressive FNH lesions in a patient with hemosiderosis using GadoliniumEOB-DTPA(Eovist) as a hepatobiliary contrast agent.The possible mechanisms underlying the occurrence and progression of FNH lesions and the potential value of Eovist in characterizing the lesions were discussed.

Nodular lymphoid hyperplasia of the gastrointestinal tract is characterized by the presence of multiple small nodules, normally between between 2 and 10 mm in diameter, distributed along the small intestine(more often), stomach, large intestine, or rectum. The patho-genesis is largely unknown. It can occur in all age groups, but primarily in children and can affect adults with or without immunodeficiency. Some patients have an associated disease, namely, common variable immu-nodeficiency, selective IgA deficiency, Giardia infection, or, more rarely, human immunodeficiency virus infec-tion, celiac disease, or Helicobacter pylori infection. Nodular lymphoid hyperplasia generally presents as an asymptomatic disease, but it may cause gastrointes-tinal symptoms like abdominal pain, chronic diarrhea, bleeding or intestinal obstruction. A diagnosis is made at endoscopy or contrast barium studies and should be confirmed by histology. Its histological characteristics include markedly hyperplasic, mitotically active germi-nal centers and well-defined lymphocyte mantles found in the lamina propria and/or in the superficial submu-cosa, distributed in a diffuse or focal form. Treatment is directed towards associated conditions because the disorder itself generally requires no intervention. Nodu-lar lymphoid hyperplasia is a risk factor for both intes-tinal and, very rarely, extraintestinal lymphoma. Someauthors recommend surveillance, however, the duration and intervals are undefined.

Tumor pathologies of the prostate gland are represented by benign prostate tumor and prostate cancer and are generally seen after 50 years. The objective of this work was to study the epidemiological, clinical, paraclinical and therapeutic aspects of prostate tumors at the General Reference Hospital of Panzi (DRC). Patients and Methods: Retrospective cross-sectional study on 70 patients followed in hospital or on an outpatient basis for prostate tumor in the urology department of the General Reference Hospital of Panzi from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2017. The epidemiological, clinical and paraclinical parameters (pathology with Gleason score, prostate volume on ultrasound, urinary impact on ultrasound, urea level, creatinine level and PSA level) and therapeutics were studied. Results: Prostate tumors represent 3.84% of surgical pathologies. The average age of the patients was 68.2 years with the extremes of 47 and 90 years old. The patients were transferred in 78.6% of the cases. Acute urine retention was the most common reason for consultation with 42.8%. The PSA rate > 4 ηg in 92.9% of the cases. Benign prostatic hyperplasia was found in 62.8% of patients against 35.7% of prostate adenocarcinoma and 41.7% of prostate cancers were moderately differentiated. The prostate volume was 41 - 60 g in 35.7% of the cases. No urinary impact in 71.4% of patients. Surgical treatment was in 85.7% and RTUP was the most used at 40%. A hospital stay between 15 and 21 days in 30% of cases. The cure rate was 81.4% and 14.3% developed urethral stenosis. Conclusion: Prostate tumors are common in people over the age of 50 who see for acute retention of urine. Benign enlarged prostate is the most common. Treatment is codified and in the event of a complicated prostatic tumor, surgery remains the choice for the comfort of the patients and the popularization of an early detection of these pathologies is necessary for the prevention of complications.

Objective: To assess cadmium sulfate(CdSO_4) and zinc chloride(ZnCl_2) antagonist effects on the prostate specific antigen and prostatic cell organization in rats.Methods: The study included 40 adult male rats, divided into four groups: Group 1(CdSO_4), Group 2(ZnCl_2), Group 3(CdSO_4-ZnCl_2) and Group 4(control). Animals were treated withCdSO_4 and ZnCl_2 at the same dose(15 mg/L) during 30 days.Results: It was showed a higher body weight and a lowering serum-prostate specific antigen concentration [(1.8 ± 0.6) ng/m L] in animals treated withCdSO_4.CdSO_4 induced a cyto-nuclear atypia, proliferative lesions, hyperplasia and precancerous foci in prostate tissue. Toxic effects of ZnCl_2 were not recorded in this study.Conclusions: Protective role of zinc was exhibited against toxic effects of cadmium in prostate gland.

Analysis on Pathogenesis of 50 Cases of Bladder Proliferative Lesions

In order to study the pathogenesis, clinical and pathological characteristics of proliferative lesions of the bladder, 50 cases of proliferative lesions of the bladder from 150 patients with complaints of frequency, urgency, hematuria and dysuria were subjected to cystoscopic biopsy of the suspicious foci in the bladder In combination with the symptoms, urine routine and urodynamics, the relationship of proliferative lesions of the bladder to the inflammation and obstruction of the lower urinary tract was analyzed Of the 50 cases of proliferative bladder lesions, 44 cases (88%) had lower urinary tract infection and 29 (58%) lower urinary tract obstruction The patients with lower urinary tract obstruction were all complicated with infection Three cases were associated with transitional cell carcinoma Malignant cells were detected in 1 case by urinary cytologic examination Proliferative lesions of the bladder, especially those without other obvious mucosa changes under cystoscopy, are common histological variants of urothelium in the patients with chronic inflammation and obstruction of the lower urinary tract Chronic inflammation and obstruction of the lower urinary tract might be the causes for proliferative lesions of the bladder It is suggested that different treatments should be applied according to the scope and histological type of the proliferative lesions

Tumors and cancers of the gastrointestinal tract and pancreas are commonly derived from precursor lesions so that understanding the physiological, cellular, and molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of precursor lesions is critical for the prevention and treatment of those neoplasms. Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors(PNETs) can also be derived from precursor lesions. Pancreatic α cell hyperplasia(ACH), a specific and overwhelming increase in the number of α cells, is a precursor lesion leading to PNET pathogenesis. One of the 3 subtypes of ACH, reactive ACH is caused by glucagon signaling disruption and invariably evolves into PNETs. In this article, the existing work on the mechanisms underlying reactive ACH pathogenesis is reviewed. It is clear that the liver secretes a humoral factor regulating α cell numbers but the identity of the liver factor remains elusive. Potential approaches to identify the liver factor are discussed.
