Jaalwala Distributary was selected to see the consequences of concrete lining on the underlying saline groundwater table. Its middle and tail portions were concrete lined whereas the head portion was still unlined. Visual MODFLOW 2011.1 was used to simulate the effects of concrete lining on saline groundwater in two-dimensional format. Simulation results showed a gradual rise of electrical conductivity (EC) up to 7000 μS/cm and decline in water table depth to nine feet (2.74 m). It observed negligible inflows from the distributary through its western boundary due to formation of a permanent barrier in the way of seepage of any kind. Results have further predicted that freshwater layer available beneath the Jaalwala Distributary (before its lining) will finish ultimately and the below present saline water also move upward to take this vacated place. Hence it was concluded to line the canals of saline water areas from their sides which will not only protect them from erosion but canal water theft as well.

In this paper, we have made an investigation on a stellar model with Kramer’s Opacity and negligible abundance of heavy elements. We have determined the structure of a star with mass , i.e. the physical variables like pressure, density, temperature and luminosity at different interior points of the star. We have discussed about some equations of structure, mechanism of energy production in a star and energy transports in stellar interior in a star and then we have solved radiative envelope and convective core by the matching or fitting point method and Runge-Kutta method by C Programming language. In future, it will help us to know about the characteristics of new stars.

Taking the contribution of the tectonic force to the total hydrostatic pressure into account, the author puts forward a new method on the calculation of the depth of petrogenesis and metallogenesis which is summarized as follows: first the tectonic added hydrostatic pressured Ps is subtracted from the total hydrostatic pressure P, then using their difference Pr, according to the general method the depth of petrogenesis and metallogenesis can be determined in consideration of lateral constraint.By the new method the following data on the depths of the metallogenesis are obtained: 2 243.6 m (No. I and No. II veins with metallogenic epoch of 105 Ma) and 1 632.38 m (No. III vein with 105 Ma) for Jiaojia orefield, and 3 454.97 m (NE-trending zone with 213.2 Ma), 1 902.79 m (ENE-trending zone with 100.28 Ma), 1 090.97 m (NE-trending zone with 80.67 Ma) and 720.55 m (NNE-trending zone with 71.86 Ma) for Linglong orefield.

Thermobaric conditions of subglacial Antarctic environment remain poorly understood, despite recent advances in radar and seismic surveying. The direct accessing to the largest subglacial lake, Lake Vostok, was carried out twice by Russian scientists in February 2012 and January 2015, opening new opportunities for assessing the thermobaric conditions at ice-water interface. According to the assumption that ice sheet is “floating” on the lake, it was predicted that the water would rise 30 - 40 m in the bottom part of the borehole, but in fact the water rose from the lake to a height of more than 500 m. To explain this phenomenon we assume that the pressure in Lake Vostok results from the external pressure of the entire mass of ice above it and the pressure of the water column that is overlaid above the point being considered. Extrapolation of temperature measurements from the deep bore-holes drilled at Vostok Station also confirmed that the bed of the ice sheet is at pressure melting point. As a result of accessing Lake Vostok, the pressure in the lake is reduced that would lead to the formation of a new additional layer of accretion ice on the lower ice sheet surface.

Influence of Pressure on Germination of Garden Cress, Leaf Mustard, and Radish Seeds at Various Temperatures

The effects of hydrostatic pressure (0.1 - 400 MPa) and temperature (4°C, 25°C, and 35°C) on the germination of three types of seeds (garden cress, leaf mustard, and radish) were studied. The normal germination rate of the three types of seeds was decreased at high hydrostatic pressure, and germination time tended to be delayed. Pressure and temperature had two types of effects on seed germination. Germination of garden cress and leaf mustard seeds was more resistant to pressure at lower temperature. Conversely, germination of radish seeds was most pressure-sensitive at low temperature, and germination drastically decreased with treatment at 50 MPa and 4°C. Generally, pressure and temperature effects on protein structure and enzyme activity have been classified into two types, “hillside”-like (pressurization decreases the stable temperature range) and “tongue”-like (stabilizing effect of moderate pressure against heat denaturation). Therefore, the type of temperature-pressure effects on germination of garden cress and leaf mustard seeds is classified as “hillside”-like and that of radish seeds is classified as “tongue”-like, similarly to the generally observed effects on protein denaturation.

In this paper,we construct an isothermal thin accretion disk model around a black hole for which the vertical mass density is expressed asρ=ρ_(0)e^(-z^(2)/2z_(0)^(2)).The hydrostatic equilibrium equations of the model disk and their difference forms are derived.We solve the basic balance equations by numerical method.According to the calculation results,the structure and evolution of model disk are discussed.
