Simulation of Air Flow along human lung for Cylindrical Channel of Porous Medium

The steady flow behavior in terminal bronchus of human lung for cylindrical channel of porous medium has been studied. The governing equations have been solved analytically and numerically for cylindrical channel. Finite difference method is incorporated to simulate the problem. The numerical results are compared with square duct channel for different parametric effect. It is observed that the flow rate is increased in cylindrical channel compared to square duct channel for the increasing value of pressure gradient, porosity and permeability. On the contrary, the flow rate is decreased in square duct channel compared to cylindrical channel for increasing value of viscosity. Flow rate in both channels is analyzed and compared for non-porous medium also. It is observed that flow rate is increased very high in cylindrical channel compared to square duct channel for both medium.

Aiming to improve the resolution of the reconstructed image in electrical resistance tomography（ERT） technique for human lung, an improved particle swarm optimization（PSO） image reconstruction algorithm is proposed based on prior knowledge and clustering, according to the characteristics of ERT technique for human lung. In the initial iteration of the novel algorithm, the modified Newton-Raphson algorithm is adopted to solve the inverse problem of ERT for human lung. According to the image reconstruction result of the modified Newton-Raphson algorithm, the finite elements in the sensitivity field are clustered according to the resistivity, based on the prior knowledge. On that basis, the improved PSO image reconstruction algorithm is adopted to the reconstruction of the image. Simulation results demonstrate that, compared to the modified Newton-Raphson algorithm and the PSO image reconstruction algorithm based on prior knowledge, the proposed algorithm can improve the precision of image reconstruction effectively.

Regeneration carries the idea of regrowing partially or completely a missing ***,on the other hand,allows restoring the function of an existing but failing *** recognition that human lungs can both repair and regenerate is quite novel,the concept has not been widely used to treat *** present evidence that the human adult lung does repair and regenerate and introduce different ways to harness this *** types of lung stem cells are capable of proliferating and differentiating upon injury driving the repair/regeneration *** models,primarily in mice,combined with lineage tracing studies,have allowed the identification of these important *** of these cells,such as basal cells,broncho-alveolar stem cells,and alveolar type 2 cells,rely on fibroblast growth factor (FGF) signaling for their survival,proliferation and/or *** preclinical studies have shown the therapeutic benefits of FGFs,a recent clinical trial for acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) using intravenous injection of FGF7 did not report the expected beneficial *** discuss the potential reasons for these negative results and propose the rationale for new approaches for future clinical trials,such as delivery of FGFs to the damaged lungs through efficient inhalation systems,which may be more promising than systemic exposure to *** this change in the administration route presents a challenge,the therapeutic promises displayed by FGFs are worth the effort.
