The objective of this study was to determine the overall thermal elastic behavior of composites by homogenization method. The results obtained were compared with those by other well-known methods such as mean field method , self-consistent method and etc. A good agreement is achieved and thus a reliable nwthod for predicting the effective behavior of composite is presented. It is very easy to extend this method to multi-phase composite. The materiol properties determined here include elastic modulus, Poisson ratio and thermal expansion coefficient （CTE）.

With the development of satellite structure technology, more and more design parameters will affect its structural performance. It is desirable to obtain an optimal structure design with a minimum weight, including optimal configuration and sizes. The present paper aims to describe an optimization analysis for a satellite structure, including topology optimization and size optimization. Based on the homogenization method, the topology optimization is carried out for the main supporting frame of service module under given constraints and load conditions, and then the sensitivity analysis is made of 15 structural size parameters of the whole satellite and the optimal sizes are obtained. The numerical result shows that the present optimization design method is very effective.

In this study,a homogenization method is employed to determine the values of effective elastic modulus for BaZrO3 which is a promising candidate material for electrolyte in solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC).Comparison between the homogenization and the analysis data reveals that the difference becomes significant with increasing of porosity when upper 20%.The empire mechanic behavior in a typical planar fuel cell is evaluated using finite element method (FEM).Large stress gradient occurs in vicinity of the interface of the electrolyte and the cathode due to theirs mismatch of thermal expansion coefficient (TEC).Moreover,local processing results reveal that microscopic stress concentration around pore near the interface of the electrolyte and the cathode in the cell perhaps produces cracks which may lead to the fail of the electrolyte and the lower energy convention efficiency.

In this article, the analytical homogenization method of periodic discrete media（HPDM）and the numerical condensed wave finite element method（CWFEM） are employed to study the longitudinal and transverse vibrations of framed structures. The valid frequency range of the HPDM is re-evaluated using the wave propagation feature identified by the CWFEM. The relative error of the wavenumber by the HPDM compared to that by the CWFEM is illustrated in functions of frequency and scale ratio. A parametric study on the thickness of the structure is carried out where the dispersion relation and the relative error are given for three different thicknesses. The dynamics of a finite structure such as natural frequency and forced response are also investigated using the HPDM and the CWFEM.

Micromechanics-based constitutive models offer superior ability to estimate the effective mechanical properties for the composites,which greatly promote the computational efficiency in the multiscale analysis for composite *** this work,a thermo-viscoelastic model for particle-reinforced composites is proposed to estimate their thermal-mechanical coupling behaviors in terms of a micromechanics-based homogenization method in the time *** matrix and particles of the composites are modeled as“thermo-rheologically complex”viscoelastic *** temperature-dependent effective elastic strain energy ratios of particle to composite are proposed to evaluate the contributions of the matrix and *** thermo-viscoelastic model for the composites is then formulated by superposing the matrix and particle’s *** element simulations based on the representative volume element models are employed to validate the constitutive model under various thermal-mechanical coupling *** effects of the loading rate,viscous parameter and particle content on the effective thermal-mechanical responses of the composites are also comprehensively *** experimental data from literature are also employed to verify the constitutive *** findings show that the proposed thermo-viscoelastic model can accurately predict the thermal-mechanical coupling behaviors for the particle-reinforced composites.

In this paper,we propose a novel porous metamaterial structure with an improved acoustic energy absorption performance at high-temperature and in the low-frequency *** the proposed novel porous metamaterial structure,a porous material matrix containing periodically perforated cylindrical holes arranged in a triangular lattice pattern is applied,and additional interlayers of another porous material are introduced around these *** theoretical model is established by adopting the double porosity theory for the interlayer and the cylindrical hole which form an equivalent inclusion and then applying the homogenization method to the porous metamaterial structure formed by the equivalent inclusion and the porous *** temperature-dependent air and material parameters are considered in the extended theoretical model,which is validated by the finite element results obtained by COMSOL *** acoustic or sound energy absorption performance can be improved remarkably at very low frequencies and high ***,the underlying acoustic energy absorption mechanism inside the unit-cell is investigated by analyzing the distribution of the time-averaged acoustic power dissipation density and the energy dissipation ratio of each constituent porous *** results reveal that regardless of the temperature,the acoustic energy is mostly dissipated in the porous material with a lower airflow resistivity,while the acoustic energy dissipated in the porous material with a higher airflow resistivity also becomes considerable in the high-frequency *** novel porous metamaterial structure proposed in this paper can be efficiently utilized to improve the acoustic energy absorption performance at high temperature.

Sensitivity analysis and topology optimization of microstructures using strain energy-based method is presented. Compared with homogenization method, the strain energy-based method has advantages of higher computing efficiency and simplified programming. Both the dual convex programming method and perimeter constraint scheme are used to optimize the 2D and 3D microstructures. Numerical results indicate that the strain energy-based method has the same effectiveness as that of homogenization method for orthotropic materials.

In conjunction with the homogenization theory and the finite element method,the mathematical models for designing the cross-section of composite shafts by maximizing the torsion rigidity are developed in this *** obtain the extremal torsion rigidity,both the cross-section of the macro scale shaft and the representative microstructure of the composite material are optimized using the new *** micro scale computational model addresses the problem of finding the periodic microstructures with extreme shear *** optimal microstructure obtained with the new model and the homogenization method can be used to improve and optimize natural or artificial *** order to be more practical for engineering applications,cellular materials rather than ranked materials are used in the optimal process in the existence of optimal bounds for the elastic ***,the macro scale model is proposed to optimize the cross-section of the torsional shaft based on the tailared *** validating optimal results show that the models are very effective in obtaining composites with extreme elastic properties,and the cross-section of the composite shaft with the extremal torsion rigidity.

The effective thermal conductivity of composites with ellipsoidal fillers is analyzed by using a homogenization method that is able to represent the microstructure *** this study,various parameters such as the volume fraction,shape,and distribution of the filler are quantitatively estimated to understand the mechanisms of heat transfer in the ***,thermal boundary resistance between resin and filler is important for obtaining composites with higher thermal ***,the anisotropy of the effective thermal conductivity arises from contact between filler in the case of ellipsoidal filler and produces lower thermal ***,the filler network and thermal resistance are essential for the heat transfer in composites because the path of thermal conduction is improved by contact between neighboring filler particles.
