Atomic Funnel Composed of an HE11—Mode output hollow beam

Using exact solutions of Maxwell equations based on the vector model, we calculate the diffracted near- and far-field distributions of the HE_(11)-mode output beam from a micron-sized hollow optical fibre under the Fresnel approximation, and compare the differences between the HE_(11)- and LP_(01)-mode output beams. Our study shows that it is unsuitable to calculate the diffracted near-field distribution of the hollow fibre by using weakly waveguiding approximation, and the near- and far-field intensity distributions of the HE_(11)-mode output beam are doughnut-like, which can be used to form a simple atomic funnel as it is blue-detuned.

Flexural behavior of ECC hollow beams incorporating different synthetic fibers

Twelve ECC beams with three different fiber types,along with four normal concrete beams,were tested in this study to evaluate the influence of cross-sectional hollowing on their flexural *** fiber types used were nylon monofilament(NM),low-cost untreated polyvinyl alcohol(PVA),and polypropylene(PP).Three different square hole sizes of 60,80,and 100 mm with cross-sectional hollowing ratios of 0.16,0.28,and 0.44,respectively,were adopted for each group of beams in addition to a solid *** beams were tested under four-point loading using a displacement-controlled testing *** test results showed that ECC beams can mostly withstand higher cracking and ultimate loads compared to their corresponding normal concrete *** results also showed that both the ductility and toughness of the ECC beams are higher than those of the normal concrete beams and that the ductility values of the hollow beams with a hole size of 60 mm are higher than those of the corresponding solid ***,hollow ECC beams with hole sizes of 60 and 80 mm exhibited a higher ductility than a solid normal concrete beam.

Achieving ultracold Bose–Fermi mixture of^(87)Rb and^(40)K with dual dark magnetic-optical-trap

We demonstrate that dual dark magnetic-optical-traps(MOTs)have great importance in the two-species^(87)Rb and^(40)K mixture compared with dual bright *** dark MOT has a little improvement in the trapping of single-species^(87)Rb or^(40)K gases compared with bright *** the case of loading two-species^(87)Rb and^(40)K simultaneously,the improvement of^(40)K in the dual dark MOTs is mainly from the reduction of light-assisted collision *** dual dark MOTs employ a pair of conical lenses to produce the hollow beam for repump laser with high *** number and density of^(87)Rb and^(40)K atoms after evaporative cooling in the hybrid magnetic trap with dark MOT loading are compared with those in bright *** atoms with large number and high density make it easier to realize the quantum degenerate of Bose-Fermi mixture.
