Design and preliminary experimental research on a new biogas fermentation system by solar heat pipe heating

Biogas fermentation requires appropriate temperature,while the biogas fermentation can be affected by the low ambient temperature in winter.In order to overcome the negative effects of low temperature fermentation,a new type of solar heat pipe biogas fermentation heating system was designed and a preliminary experiment research on this system was conducted using cow manure as the raw material at 6%concentration and total fermentation volume of 175 L.The experimental results showed that when the system was in normal operation,the fermentation temperature rose every day by gradient.This gradient will gradually become smaller with the increase of fermentation liquid temperature,and the temperature can reach 38°C after stability.Using this solar heat pipe heating system,the fermentation liquid temperature can be increased by 5°C every sunny day.This solar heat pipe heating system plays a significant role in biogas fermentation.The results of economic analysis show that the system can realize the fermentation at constant temperatures of 25°C and 35°C respectively,and it can also save standard coal equivalent of 40 kg and 80 kg in winter and spring,respectively.

Room thermal load prediction based on analytic hierarchy process and back-propagation neural networks

Accurate prediction of the heat load is the basic premise of intelligent regulation of the heating system,which helps to realize effective management of heating,ventilation,air conditioning system.For the problem that the weight of each influencing factor is not taken into account in the current heat load prediction and is not highly targeted,this article deeply explores the influence of different factors on the room heat load,and we propose a method to calculate room heat load prediction based on the combination of analytic hierarchy process(AHP)and back-propagation(BP)neural network.Firstly,eight environmental factors affecting the heat load are selected as prediction inputs through parametric analysis,and then the weights of each input are determined by AHP and normalize the prediction data by combining expert opinions,and finally do one-to-one training the quantified score and the room heat load to predict the future heat load by BP neural network.The simulation tests show that the mean absolute relative error(MARE)of the proposed prediction method is 5.40%.This article also verifies the influence of different expert opinions on the stability of the model.The results show that the proposed method can guarantee higher prediction accuracy and stability.

＜正＞Aiming at the control to temperature of Active Solar House heating system,which has large time-delay, time-varying and model uncertainty.Fuzzy Self-tuning PID Cascade Control algorithm is prevailed.It takes the advantage of cascade control algorithm to overcome dynamic characteristics of controlled parameter,a self-tuning PID control for achieving perfect control effect.The simulation shows that the algorithm is better than the conventional PID cascade control,it has better adaptabilities for the parameters’ variation,lower overshoot and better anti-interference ability.

Obtaining the heat loss coefficient of a dwelling using its heating system(integrated coheating)

This paper presents the methodology,along with some of the initial findings and observations from tests performed on two dwellings,of differing construction and form,in which a coheating test was performed using the dwelling’s central heating system;this method is referred to as integrated coheating.Data obtained during the integrated coheating tests using a dwelling’s heating system have been compared with data obtained during electric coheating of the same dwelling.In one instance,integrated coheating test data from one dwelling was compared to a similar adjoining control dwelling that was simultaneously subject to an electric coheating test.The results show a good agreement between the heat loss coefficients(HLC)obtained using a dwelling’s own heating system and those obtained through electrical coheating.Initial analysis suggests the HLC estimate obtained from integrated coheating is likely to be more representative of how a dwelling performs in-use.The findings question the appropriateness of comparing current steady-state HLC predictions to those derived from in-use monitoring data.Integrated coheating has the potential to provide a more cost-effective and informative indication of whole house heat loss than electric coheating,as it enables in situ quantification of both fabric and heating system performance.

Case Study:Promoting Sustainable Energy Greenhouse heating systems to Small-Scale Local Farms

Biomass energy generated from livestock manure,other agricultural by-products and food waste can be an affordable greenhouse-heating energy source for those seeking lower energy costs.Appalachian State University,North Carolina(NC),USA,has built a 6.1 m×9.1 m greenhouse,called the“Nexus”to test the integrated sustainable energy heating system for growing season extension with less energy cost.This is done by using on-farm biomass resources/wastes such as agricultural waste and wood chips to produce energy coupled with solar water heating to store and supplement required thermal inputs.Growing season extension with heated greenhouses increases the availability of local food throughout the year,expands available markets and increases farmers’profits.Nexus includes an above ground 5,680-L water storage tank and an aquaculture pond.It is supported by a small-scale pyrolysis system,an anaerobic digestion system,solar thermal and compost heating.The preliminary result showed that compared to a conventional space heating system,about 30%of energy was saved to keep the greenhouse temperature available for growing by radiation from the water storage tank.The main purpose of this study was to test the proposed greenhouse heating systems developed at Nexus by implementing pilot systems on two local farms.Pyrolysis and solar thermal system in conjunction with heat storage and delivery system for each farm were built and tested in order to demonstrate how to reduce greenhouse energy use.This paper describes the results of the case study,which showed significant energy savings that can promote the resource-limited farmers’interest.

heating was welfare for employee of State-owned enterprises in period of planned economy in China. The system did not suit the current market oriented economy. The current indoor heating system carried major efficiency penalties, and consumers had no means to control their heat supply. Heat reform was the only way to adapt the heat company to the current economy. The basic goal of the reform was to make heat a commodity-creating a market mechanism to enable consumers to be able to control how much they consume, and pay according to actual consumption. This paper gave a detailed description of the heat reform in Tianjin, which was the first large city in China to embark on heat reform in 2000. The responsibility for heat bill payment was transferred from the State-owned enterprises to the heat consumer. Control valves and radiator by-pass pipes were added in the retrofit for the heating system. And a two-part tariff was used. The results of the reform were discussed. The paper concluded with some thoughts of the reform.

In order to solve the problem of absorbing and disposing wind power, mathematical models of thermal power unit, combined heat and power unit, electric boiler and phase change thermal storage station are studied separately from the angle of decoupling thermo-electric coupling constraint and power system regulating ability. Aiming to achieve the lowest operating cost, an integrated scheduling method is established, and the optimal energy scheduling solution is obtained by particle swarm optimization algorithm. The simulation experiment model based on Matlab/Simulink is set up. Compared with the traditional co-generation mode, the co-operation mode of the thermoelectric unit combined wind power-electric boiler-phase change thermal storage station is validated.
