The ground state entanglement in an isotropic three-qubit transverse XY chain with energy current is analysed. A quantum phase transition from a no-energy-current phase to energy-current phase is found when the magnetic field changes. It has also been found that the ground state changes in company with the quantum phase transition.

Low-lying states of a vertically coupled three-layer quantum-dot system are studied. Each layer contains one electron, and the tunnelling of electrons between layers is neglected. Effects of the interlayer separation d and the external magnetic field B are evaluated by numerical calculations. In the strong coupling case (i.e.d is small), as in a single dot, transitions of the angular momentum L of the true ground states occur when B increases, whereas in the weak coupling case the transition does not occur and L remains zero. Furthermore, it is found that the variation of d may also induce the L transition. As a result, a phase diagram of L of the true ground state is given in the d-B plane.

We consider the nonlinear Schr¨odinger equation-?u +(λa(x) + 1)u = |u|^(p-1) u on a locally finite graph G =(V, E). We prove via the Nehari method that if a(x) satisfies certain assumptions, for any λ > 1, the equation admits a ground state solution uλ. Moreover, as λ→∞, the solution uλconverges to a solution of the Dirichlet problem-?u + u = |u|^(p-1) u which is defined on the potential well ?. We also provide a numerical experiment which solves the equation on a finite graph to illustrate our results.

Using the density functional method B3LYP with relativistic effective core potential （RECP） for Pu atom, the low-lying excited states （^4Σ^＋, ^6Σ^＋, ^8Σ^＋） for three structures of PuOH molecule were optimized. The results show that the ground state is X^6Σ^＋ of the linear Pu-O-H （C∞v）, its corresponding equilibrium geometry and dissociation energy are RPu-O = 0.20595 nm, RO-H=0.09581 nm and -8.68 eV, respectively. At the same time, two other metastable structures [PuOH （Cs） and H-Pu-O （C∞v）] were found. The analytical potential energy function has also been derived for whole range using the many-body expansion method. This potential energy function represents the considerable topographical features of PuOH molecule in detail, which is adequately accurate in the whole potential surface and can be used for the molecular reaction dynamics research.

Electron impact excitation cross sections from the ground state and the lowest metastable state 5p56s J=2 to the excited states of the 5p57p configuration of xenon are calculated systematically using the fully relativistic distorted wave method. Special attention is paid to the configuration interaction effects in the wave-function expansion of target states. The results are in good agreement with the recent experimental data by Jung et al. [Phys. Rev. A 80 （2009） 062708] over the measured energy range. These accurate theoretical results can be used in the modeling and diagnosis of plasmas containing xenon.
